The shout drew her attention and she turned, eyes locking with Dex as she stepped into the beam of light her pathfinder had created, her concentration slipping at the exhausted and terrified look on his face.
She reappeared outside of Havenfield, her thoughts hazy as she found herself unable to continue standing. A boy with periwinkle eyes stood over her, his eyes brimming with tears as he mouthed his final apology and Sophie Foster faded from memory forever.
"I'm sorry, Sophie!"
