Hi guys! Thanks for continuing to the second chapter. Hope you've enjoyed my story so far :)
For this one-shot, I had a clear plan how the story would go. But when I wrote it, I eventually decided to split it in two parts.
Unfortunately, there won't be much "Apritello" in this chapter. But the second part will have some fluff for both chapters. You wouldn't like to read anything too sweet, would you? Right? Riiight? Yeah, I would too!
In this chapter, I wanted to show a little of the friendship between April and the rest of the turtles besides Donatello. I love April's relationship between all of them, and wanted to give it a go, too.
Hope you'll enjoy!
Don't let them define you, Part 1
It was an early afternoon. School was cancelled for today because of a snowstorm. And yesterday, and the day before that. I would have to take a test in chemistry tomorrow. The teachers were hoping for the weather to calm down, but if it wouldn't, they had also made digital tests to take at home on our computers. Unlike you would think, that digital test would be a lot harder. We could use our books and the internet, but the questions were a lot harder, too.
I was sitting on the couch in our home in the sewers. I was reading my chemistry book, but couldn't understand anything. Even though I really, really tried to. Chemistry was one of my worst subjects. It always made me feel like a complete failure. All the other people in my class would get straight A's on every test, while I could barely even pass.
I was so close to crying right now. I could already feel my teacher's disappointed voice talking to me about how I would never be anything if my grades would be this bad. And my classmates comparing their grades, and not being satisfied with their grade being a B and not an A, while I'd be looking at my F or D and feeling like I was completely worthless.
After sitting on that couch with my book for some time, I eventually just lost it. I threw my book on the floor, and screamed in frustration.
"Woah, what's the matter?" I heard Raph saying from the kitchen.
"Nothing." I answered, and leaned my head on my hands.
"I'm not buying that." he said and came to the living room.
"What happened?" he asked.
"I don't understand anything about this chemistry book, and I should take a test tomorrow." I said.
"WHAT HAPPENED?" I heard Mikey and Leo screaming. They ran to the living room from the training room. They were practising more self defence and fighting our enemies.
"April's taking a test tomorrow at school. And it's a tough one." Raph told them.
"I'll get Donnie." Mikey said, and was already heading to Donnie's lab, when I stopped him.
"NO, DON'T! He already has more than enough to do and to worry about, I don't want to add to his problems. He wouldn't want to use his day to studying with me."
"Yes, he would." I immediately heard from three mouths at the same time.
"April, Donnie loves you. More than anything." Mikey said.
"He would be more than happy to help, and spend time with you." Leo.
"Plus he would get a break from everything he's doing at that lab." Raph.
"Of course we would offer our help, but you know we're not that good at those subjects you're studying at school." Mikey.
"Donnie knows chemistry like the back of his hand. And you two have that special connection we don't have with either of you. So please, let him help you. You would both love that, and you know that, Ape." Raph.
These guys were so sweet. They were all looking at me, waiting for me to say something. They were so caring. I couldn't resist a smile.
"I guess you're right." I finally told them.
"Now you're talking! We'll get him."
"Wait!" I shouted after them. All the three stopped, and turned to look at me with confused faces.
"Thanks, guys." I smiled.
"No prob, Ape." Raph smiled back at me.
There we go.
Tell me how you liked it! Good things, bad things, anything. I'm always happy to get some feedback.
Hope I'll see you again next time! The next part will be posted very soon, so stay tuned!
Thank you for giving your time to read my story.
