Chapter 2

Alex plodded down the hall, into the kitchen and dropped her school bag to the floor. Emily stared at her after she heard the loud bang of her bag hitting the marble tiled floor.

"So would you like to tell me why Mrs White called me from school today?" Emily took a seat across from the younger girl.

Emily had received a call from the head of Pe making her aware of the fact Alex did not attend her double Pe lesson that day, to be honest Emily didn't care, it was only Pe but she promised she'd talk to her about it so that's what she will do.

"Look, I'm really sorry for not going to Pe it's just really boring and I HATE the girls in my class they're horrid" Alex sighed tapping her fingers on the island.

"I know Pe is boring, trust me I'm aware, as for the girls there is nothing you can really do, some people are just nasty and we may not want to be around them but it's just a part of life, we all have to do things we don't want to do, I don't want it happening again or you'll be in trouble, now go, do what you normally do" Emily chuckled ruffling Alex's hair as she walked away.

The two spent the evening watching movies and discussing their day.

"So em, you never told me what happened between you and JJ that night" Alex smirked at the older brunette sat across from her.

Emily sighed. "JJ told me she had feelings for me ... then we kissed but that's it and now we haven't spoke about it since and she's doing her best to avoid me" Emily was noticeably saddened by this. Alex adjusted her position on the couch and reached over to pull Emily into a hug.

"Look em, she's not worth it if she's going to be like that, don't let her ruin your day" Alex rubbed up and down Emily's back before pulling back and refocusing her eyes on the movie playing in the background.

Emily turned her head and smiled at Alex, it was the best feeling in the world to know that this girl was her daughter, maybe not biologically but she was her daughter.

A few days later Emily had promised to take Alex and her friend Jessica (who Emily had started to treat like her own) out for food, she told Alex that she was to be at the BAU straight from school so they could head out as soon as she had finished work. Alex and Jessica walked through the building and into the bullpen where Emily was sat at her desk signing reports. The two teens walked over to Emily avoiding the other agents around them.

"Hey em, how long you gonna be?" Alex smiled kindly at Emily.

"Oh hey girls, ermmm about 40 minutes, do you guys wanna go sit in the conference room, no one is in there for the moment" Emily said pointing with her pen towards a door down the hall.

"Yeah sure" Alex replied turning round to see Jennifer, Penelope and Derek stood waiting for greetings.

"Hey girlies how's my favourite niece and adopted niece doing?" Garcia chirped bringing the two into a hug.

"We're good pen, hey Derek, did you watch the game?" Alex, Jessica and Derek became engrossed in a conversation about the basketball game that had taken place the weekend before.

The two girls then walked off into the conference room, Alex ignored the fact JJ was even in the room.

Emily noticed Alex's hostile behaviour towards JJ but she'd be lying if she said it didn't make her the slightest bit happy that the teen was on her side. Garcia gave Emily a curious look as if to say 'what's going on?' Emily simply shrugged and went back to her work, watching JJ retreat into her office.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Come in" JJ said plainly to see see Alex stood at her door.

"Hey Jen, I'm really sorry I ignored you before, I just got so into the basketball talk with Morgan, can you forgive me" she looked straight into JJs ocean blue eyes.Jennifer chuckled at her.

"Of course, i thought there was something wrong, that id done something to hurt you" JJ placed her hand on Alex's shoulder. "Anyway I think you're mom wants you so you better get going, glad we're okay" she smiled trying not to draw attention to the fact she called Emily her mom.

"Yeah" Alex said closing the door behind her and walking over to Emily and jessica who were talking about school.

"Thanks for apologising al, I appreciate it. I just don't want to ruin you guys relationship" Emily smiled and then exclaimed " WHO WANTS PIZZA!!!"

All three of them cheered and laughed making their way out of the building, leaving a very confused and guilty JJ stood watching from her office window.

The blonde sat down and started to review some more cases to see which the team should be taken on next. She was quite distracted the whole time, with worries of what Emily thought of her and guilt for running away but it was all too real, but how can she say that to Emily without it hurting her, she can't explain.
