HEYO! Thanks to all readers!

Yes, I'm posting twice in one day because, I just really wanna get this story going.

Kai stood in the rain for longer than he should've, especially considering the bundle he held in his arms. He stared at the rail, trying to get the image of Skylor abandoning them as she leapt over the edge out of his head. The baby's soft whimpers were the only thing to bring him back to himself.

He looked down at the kid, the whole moment completely surreal.

"Guess I should get you inside and out of the cold, huh, kid?"

His stomach churned at the thought of facing his team and having to explain everything. How Skylor had gotten pregnant in the first place. How she'd just shown up out of nowhere to hand him a 2-month-old baby and then completely abandoned them. Deep down, he knew they'd be supportive, and they'd do everything they could to help him. But still...this could very well change everything.

As his hand touched the door knob, he noticed a black backpack resting next to the door. Inside, were a few bottles, some diapers, and some other basic baby supplies. Huh. At least, Skylor had the decency to make sure the kid wouldn't go hungry tonight.

Kai slung the backpack over his shoulder without disturbing the kid and steeled himself to go inside. As he swung open the door, Jay stumbled back from where his ear had been pressed against it. He chuckled nervously as he blushed and scratched the back of his head.

"Uh, hehe, we...definitely didn't hear any of your conversation with Skylor."

Kai ignored him, focusing on all the other eyes that stared in unison at the baby in his arms. Heat crept up his neck towards his face, and-and he couldn't take this. He couldn't stand their shocked and prying gazes, so he moved forward, brushing past Cole and Zane without a word.

They all heard the door to the guys' bunkroom slam shut and continued to stand around in the dining room in awkward silence. Which Sensei Wu finally broke.

"Perhaps, I should go speak to Kai about what has taken place." He stroked his beard thoughtfully, having not seemed as surprised at the turn of events, only contemplative.

Nya sighed. "Allow me, Sensei. He's my brother, and I just feel like I should be there for him right now."

Sensei bowed his head slightly. "Very well, Nya. However, I will need to speak with Kai eventually."

Nya nodded. "Of course, Sensei." She glanced at everyone else, all looking a little lost. "Don't worry, guys," she assured them. "I'll make sure he's okay...and hopefully help get this all sorted out." She smiled, tightly.

As she walked towards the hallway to the bunkroom, she looked back again, adding, "And absolutely no one is to give him a hard time about this until we understand the whole story. Or I'll have to drown you, got it?"

It was said as a joke, but there was also a dead serious truth behind it. Especially when it came to Kai's emotional health, Nya really was fiercely protective.

The four ninja replied rapidly, all their words mushed together.

"Of course, not, Nya."

"Never."

"We'll support him."

"Wouldn't dream of it!"

Nya huffed. "Good." She opened the door to the bunkroom and shut it behind her.

Kai was pacing back and forth in the space in front of the window, restlessly. His head snapped up when he heard the door open. While he didn't fully relax, he did calm slightly when he noticed it was just Nya.

"Hey," he muttered. He paused in his pacing, folding his arms and turning himself to face the window at an angle.

"So... Nya started. "Is it true? Do you-really have a kid?"

Kai snorted. "See for yourself."

Kai turned his head back from the window to look at Zane's bed, where he'd set the kid down in a makeshift pillow crib. Nya's gaze followed his, and she gasped, still disbelieving this was really happening.

Then she shrieked, throwing her arms in the air excitedly, but Kai was startled half out of his wits.

"Gah! Geez, Nya don't do that! Scared the hell out of me."

"Sorry!" She cried, eyes shining as she sounded not all that sorry. "It's just-Kai, I'm an aunt! And-and you're a father!" She ran up to him and flung her arms around his neck. "I know we never expected it like this, but still! My big brother's a daddy. And I get to be an aunt!" She giggled, letting go of him and taking a few steps back as she realized he wasn't sharing her enthusiasm.

His face was in a tight frown, causing Nya to sigh. She knew this wasn't going to be an easy situation, especially since it came as such a sudden shock to everyone and Kai most of all.

"Look," she started. "I know this is all a huge chunk of news to digest. But we're gonna talk it through and figure out how to handle it, alright?"

Kai hummed half-heartedly.

"I'm serious, Kai. And you know I'll be with you every step of the way, brother." She put her hand on his shoulder.

Finally, Kai sighed, lifting his head to acknowledge her. "Thanks, sis," he pecked her on the cheek, and moved closer to the sleeping bundle on the bed. "I wasn't worried about how you would react. More the guys...and Sensei."

Nya smiled, comfortingly, looking at his back.. "The guys will be supportive, you know that. And Sensei didn't seem upset at all, in fact, he offered to talk to you first. But I suggested I should first, considering you're my brother."

"Yeah, thanks for that. Not sure I'm ready to talk to anyone else yet."

"Figured. But before we talk about this thoroughly, can I please just see her?" Nya pleaded.

Kai laughed lightly. "'Course, sis. Gosh, it's so unreal." He ran a hand through his hair, still in awe at the peaceful face that had distinct features from both him and his ex.

"Ohhh," Nya squealed, standing beside him now. "Kai, she is so beautiful. Looks just like you, too." She looked up at her brother, a teasing look on her face as Kai noticeably blushed. "What's her name?"

Kai's expression darkened, and his hands clenched into fists. "Doesn't have one yet. I believe Skylor's exact words after she forced me to take the kid were… 'I figured the least I can do is let you name her.'"

Nya looked sympathetic, while inside she was boiling at Skylor's audacity.

"Obviously, we heard some of how the conversation," she started. "But I didn't want to be so nosy and let you tell us yourself, so I haven't heard how that all went down. Wanna sit down and talk about it?" She gestured to Lloyd's bed a few feet away, in the middle of the room.

Kai complied, knowing he'd have to tell her eventually. And he did actually need to talk to someone about this, and Nya was by far the best option. He scrubbed at the side of his face, wondering where to start. Nya waited patiently.

"She didn't have to the kid in her arms when we started talking. Obviously, since she wasn't holding it when Jay opened the door," Kai said.

Nya nodded, humming in encouragement, but waiting for him to continue.

"I walked out there and she was just silent and I could tell she was nervous...so I knew something was up. Then that green-haired girl, Tox, I think? Yeah, so she walked out of the shadows holding this bundle of something."

His eyes traveled to the child on the bed, and Nya understood now. She decided to help her brother out and do some of the talking, keeping her voice soft even when she felt like skewering a particular...redhead someone.

"So, basically she let you try to come to the conclusion on your own?"

Kai nodded. "I guess. I don't know. Then she got all defensive when I said I was sorry, ya know cuz I never meant for this to happen. And of course, I used protection and all that but she yelled at me like I was stupid. Like I didn't know that stuff could still happen."

Nya put her hand on his arm. "I don't have to get all sappy and tell you you're not stupid, right?" She grinned, trying to get him to at least quirk a smile. But he was too lost in his own head, right now.

"Thanks, sis. But it's okay, it's not like I care what she thinks anymore."

"Good. She doesn't deserve to have power over your thoughts and emotions like that."

Kai smiled a little at that, but after remaining silent for a few moments, Nya prompted him to continue.

"Then, what happened?"

"Then when I asked her what she wanted me to do, she basically just forced the kid on me! She told me I had to take her, because there were no other options or whatever. Which I said wasn't true, because ya know, there's always adoption and that kind of thing…"

"You'd really considering giving your daughter up for adoption?" Nya asked softly, still unused to the word 'daughter' in this context. To which she saw Kai also noticeably flinched at.

"I don't know, Nya. It's not like I would under any circumstance. But, this-I mean, come on. Nya, I'm 19! I live on a flying ship with 5 other men, and one woman! My job requires that I put my life at risk almost every day, and I don't even personally get paid for the effort. This is no place to raise a kid, Nya. I wouldn't want that kind of danger and uncertainty for any kid, much less my kid." He said those last two words with such conviction that both their eyes widened, before Kai sighed, deflating. "You understand my dilemma, right sis?"

Nya nodded. "Of course, I do. I'm not telling you what you should or shouldn't do. But-" She stood up, nearing Zane's bed to gaze at the baby again, who was starting to stir. Kai stood up and went over to the bed.

"Look at her, Kai," Nya said softly, kneeling down by the bed and gesturing at the tiny child. "Don't you love her? Don't you want to keep her?"

Kai knelt down, reaching a shaky finger out to stroke the baby's cheek as she started to whimper.

"I do," he whispered. "I do love her." Voice husky. So quiet that Nya barely heard him.

At that moment, the baby's arm flailed out, and her little hand grasped at the much larger finger stroking her cheek. Kai froze, tears flooding his eyes at the flood of emotions that washed through him at his kid's pure, trusting, innocent gesture.

Nya just watched in silence, happy tears filling her own eyes as she watched her brother, who normally deemed himself too macho to cry or show vulnerability, crumbled at the pure love he was feeling for this tiny being. The tiny being that he had helped bring into this world. The tiny being that was his daughter.

"I want to keep her," he said, still quiet. Then he turned to Nya, tears still streaking down his cheeks as he spoke with more conviction. "I want to keep her, Nya. I...I wanna be Maya's daddy."

Anyone else squealing at the adorable-ness of Kai being a daddy?

Also, I'm just totally digging this idea! Anyone else feel?
