When they returned from the training, nothing had changed; or rather neither of them noted that anything had changed. They still rose an hour before dawn to get in some extra training before classes. They still went to breakfast together after their early morning training routine, said their 'see you laters' and headed to their separate classes, and nothing had changed.

Weeks, and still neither mentioned Xu's near death, nor their sudden realization that they were not in fact invincible after all, nor the situation they had found themselves in when they were reunited and both fully alive.

Quistis' mind wandered in between classes and questions, training and homework, to that strange lingering tingle on her lips, to the fierceness and certainty she had seen in Xu's eyes and that soft feeling that she was missing something, that there was another secret part to life she had somehow never learned about.

She had never had a boyfriend before, never really wanted one. She had school and her career and her roommate and best friend, Xu. Sure there were times when jerks like Seifer would hit on her and she felt a certain sort of power when she moved and their eyes followed and with a word she could send them to do her bidding despite themselves, but love? She couldn't tell you what love was. And it nagged at the back of her mind, because she couldn't tell you what it was she felt when she thought about being kissed by Xu either.
