Chapter 1
Centuries later...
The time has passed slowly but Alicia managed to go on and bring summer about to the world. It was fun for her. She managed to see much more than where she woke up and life was turned into one big adventure.
She learned how to fly and control heat after much practice. It took a while for her to become accustomed with the way her new powers worked. The absolute best of her duty was to bring summer to the small island, Hawaii. Especially since summer had no coldness.
The Cold. Her one big weakness. She recalled almost dying at the coldness and she had to warm herself up before she brought summer. The town, Burgess that she was supposed to bring summer to, was one of the struggles but as soon as the temperature picked up things went smoothly.
In the meanwhile, learning of the Guardians as well as other spirits was a bonus. Alicia envied the Guardians. They could be seen by their fellow believers, but the other spirits…were just a myth. Some weren't even a myth to humans and it was sad.
That's all that she hated about being a spirit but it was fun running around in the ocean, doing pranks without anyone knowing who it was.
Alicia built a small tree house where she only rested when she's tired, near a volcano. She learned it's easy to restore her powers there a time ago. It was reassuring, especially when she brought summer all around.
Flashback
Alicia was lying on a tree when she felt something hit her on her hand and picked it up to see a small lava stone. She played with it, tossing, turning and throwing it in the air. The heat never burnt her, neither did it go out.
She soon fell asleep holding it in her hand and the next morning it had vanished without a trace. She had searched for it but found that it had vanished. She was upset, yet there wasn't much she could do to the situation.
However, as soon as her eye fell upon her bracelet it was attached to it. The red stone and the piece seemed to merge with each other and formed one red magical gem. It was quite the sight and she couldn't help but smile.
It was her piece of lava.
End of flashback
She giggled at the memory. Today was sunny so she decided to make a stop at the beautiful beach of Honolulu. The sun shone high in the blue sky and the waves were cutting through surfers and their boards like never before.
Alicia watched the kids laughed and men stare at the females who danced, only wearing their bikinis with flower skirts. She could only roll her eyes at their behavior, briefly wondering if all men were like that.
"Perverts"
She skipped along and saw the same restaurant she spotted every year. It was a small restaurant were only one man worked and he made nachos. He was quite talented, making anything that one could think of combining but it didn't always end well.
"Try my new recipe!"
"Oh boy" She said, her brows wrinkling as she grimaced. She saw plenty of people swarm the male's small restaurant and feared what combination he came up with this time. Hopefully it won't leave them with a stomach ache.
Her eyes caught a huge wave that was surfed by a few men, their surfboards never leaving the surface of the water. She heard children exclaim in amazement behind her and glanced back at them, smirking.
"Well if you think that's a big wave then what do you think of this?" She asked and ran into the water. Flying and communicating with the wind wasn't the only power she discovered she had. After all, a few tricks couldn't do too much harm.
Alicia touched the water and ripples appeared. Not long after the wave's size increased and it splashed hard making everyone wet. Everyone exclaimed in shock while the children laughed through their cheering.
"I want to go into the water! It looks so fun and the other kids are already there!" A boy yelled but his mom stopped him before he could go too far. He looked back at his mother, pouting and crossing his arms over his chest.
"Wait Honey! If you don't put on sun block Alice will burn a hand" The female warned him as she pulled out the lotion. Alicia blinked in surprise at the saying and smiled. Well, it seemed like she wasn't not famous.
"Who's Alice?" Nevermind.
"No-one Honey, it's just an expression. Now stand still so I can put this on. Then you can go play with the others." The woman said as she applied the creamy liquid and made sure to finish quickly before the boy rushed inside the water.
"Who's Alice?" Alicia huffed. "The best wave maker off all times" She said and outstretched her hand making another huge wave. Some of the surfers immediately went out in hope to catch it while the people on the beach gaped at the sudden appearance.
"Amazing I know" She said, smirking with much confidence. She smiled and when she started to turn a kid ran through her. She gasped and fell in the water feeling that sick and empty feeling once more.
She coughed and stood up shakily. She clenched her eyes shut and ran out everyone's way. She clutched her chest. No matter what, I could never be seen. I didn't even know why I was here! She felt herself tear up and swallowed the tears away.
"Live like there's no tomorrow Alicia! Don't fret...they'll see you someday" She told herself and let the wind carry her to her shelter. She looked at the sun and felt the life and warmth from it, it was comforting and not like the moon that just gave her this life and never told her why.
She sighed and quickly landed near the volcano. She needed a recharge, but when she got there someone was pacing and it was someone familiar. So much for recharging… She thought and raised an eyebrow at the figure.
"Spring?"
"Summers!" Spring hugged her tightly, making Alicia gasp out for breath because of the strength the smaller female used. Spring was her seasonal sister, also possessing powers that brought spring to the world.
She had golden locks, complemented with green eyes and wore a colorful dress filled with flower patterns. It had also reached her kneed but she was shorter than Alicia was. They had known each other since their birth and experienced almost everything together.
"What brings you here?" Alicia asked making her scepter appear. If she didn't have time to recharge then she would merely use her scepter. It wasn't always the best way to refill on her powers but it worked.
"It's bad," Spring said and by the strained tone in her voice Alicia knew it was serious. It was odd. Spring was rarely if ever this serious about anything and it made Alicia worry. "It's Autumn, he's missing! I saw him a week ago before he just vanished! I think he's kidnapped! Or maybe worse! I-"
"Whoa there, Spring! Calm down! Let's not jump to conclusions. Have you checked his home?" Alicia asked trying to calm her down. Once she started ranting there was no stopping her and if she panicked then Alicia would start to panic.
She nodded. "Yes, he wasn't there! Oh, Summers, what are we going to do?" She asked scared. She didn't like the uneasiness that washed over her. Autumn was a dear friend and she feared that whatever happened to him may happen to her as wel.
Alicia rubbed her chin while contemplating about the new information. "I don't know. But Manny wouldn't let anything happen to a spirit without anyone knowing" She pointed out and looked up at the moon in confusion.
"He would tell if Autumn is in danger. if not us definitely the Guardians" She said but Spring was still uneasy. "Hey! It's going to be okay! Look, why don't you stay here for a while until things are sorted out here?" Alicia asked and Spring's face lit up.
"Thank you!"
"Pleasure" She gasped out once again and faintly smiled at the sprite. There was still a gleam of worry in her eyes but most of her cheerfulness seemed to return full force. Alicia took her to her room and she fell asleep in an instant.
Finding that sleep didn't come so easy for her, Alicia decided to stay up and watch out for anything suspicious. If Autumn was kidnapped, I would make sure Spring would also be safe... She thought, holding her scepter tighter.
She would protect Spring.
