HELLO, CHILDREN! Long time no see! Yeah... sorry about that. Today, I sat myself down and said, "Self, you're going to finish this chapter." Then I punched myself in the face for emphasis. Well, not really. Just pretend I did if it makes you feel better.

But first, I shall go through some reviewers!

Danny Hellcat: Thanks! :3 Sorry about the slow update, but at least it's here now.

Ronnie R15: I guess that's up to your imagination. Pitch might make an appearance, though. :3 Who knows? If you want me to write what happened to them I'd be happy to oblige.

loubega: I'm just hungry. :/

Bailey24: Here ya go!

art chic 99: Thanks! I try. :3

dany: Continue confirmed.

Braeton: Thanks ya!

Trainman-Captain Writer: Here's your update! Thanks for the support. :3

Thanks for your patience. I know I've been really slow. :/ And now... Chapter Two!

Chapter Two

Jack had to close his eyes as he stepped out of the portal and into the bright sunlight. It had been countless years since the sun had shone, uncovered by a musky cloud of smog. His mouth stretched into a wide grin. Of all the wonderful things that had been lost these past hundred years, the sun was what he'd missed the most.

Jack was pounded back into his senses by an uncharacteristically cold chill rippling through his spine. Another human had just exited the portal to pass through his ice-cold body. He probably would have shivered if he hadn't been so used to it. Jack quickly scooted out of the way of the portal. He wanted to avoid as much human "contact" as possible.

He easily spotted the other Guardians, who were also trying their best to steer clear of the steadily growing crowd. It wasn't very hard to pick them out from the rest of the citizens. It's difficult to miss a large man with a long, fluffy beard dressed entirely in red standing next to a giant bunny, a feathered fairy, and a floating man made entirely out of sand.

Jack took a deep breath, savoring the sweet scent of nature for the first time in ages. Baby Tooth was absolutely delighted, twirling and around like a tornado. With a swing of his staff, Jack landed next to his family.

"So, what are we supposed to do now?" he asked. Tooth and Bunny looked pointedly toward North. Jack guessed that they knew about as much as he did.

"Now, we follow," North replied cheerfully. And so, when the horde of people started to move forward, they did.

Zoe was in a very good mood. Upon visiting The Eye that morning, she had discovered several new stories to share with her friends. They were about magical creatures; creatures who were believed to have existed back before the sky turned brown. One of these creatures was Santa Claus, a jolly man who gave presents to good children on Christmas. Another described a fairy that collected the teeth of small children in exchange for money! This was very exciting news for Zoe, who had discovered a loose tooth only a few days prior.

The program had continued to describe many other beings: important ones like the Easter Bunny and the Sandman, and even lesser believed ones like the Leprechaun and Jack Frost. Zoe couldn't imagine why anyone would stop believing in such beautiful people! I mean, they were people too, weren't they? They were just special. Zoe wished that she could have magical powers like them. How cool would it be to create flowers with the snap of your fingers or to soar high into the white clouds?

The newly-believing Shannon proceeded to skip all the way home, humming the tune of 'Jingle Bells' that had been playing during the projection.

"Hello, Sweetie," her mother greeted as she whisked through the door. She glanced around, as if looking for someone. "Where's Josh?"

Zoe shrugged. He hadn't showed up to take her home, so she'd simply skipped home on her own. Her mother looked upset, but didn't say anything about it.

"What's that song? I don't think I've heard it before." she asked, changing the subject.

"It's called 'Jingle Bells'," Zoe explained, taking her seat at the kitchen table. "I learned it at The Eye."

"Sounds like fun." Her mom had gone back to chopping onions. "Oh..." Elisabeth had accidentally cut her self with the knife.

"I'll be right back. Yell at Josh for me if he comes home, alright?"

"Okay, Mommy," Zoe said, not really listening. She picked up her sister's tablet, getting ready to draw everything she'd learned about that day. Maddie wouldn't mind; She spent most of her time with that soldier anyway.

First, Zoe drew the big man in red. He seemed like the most important. She gave him a huge sack stuffed with exciting presents! True to the legends, a large smile was plastered onto his face.

Next was the bunny rabbit. He was really tall and carried a basket full of colorful eggs. Zoe drew grass and flowers around his feet to show that he was hiding his eggs in the Spring time.

After that, Zoe drew a beautiful woman covered with bright feathers and blessed with graceful, fluttering wings. She was hovering above the ground, teeth in hand, getting ready to add them to her palace.

Finally, she drew the Sandman. He was also floating, but was way shorter than the Tooth Fairy and made of sand, not feathers. Zoe leaned back to admire her work. And yet, there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind. Someone was missing. Confused by the sudden impulse, Zoe glanced up. Her mom had returned to the kitchen by then to continue making dinner.

"Who's missing?" Zoe asked herself aloud.

"What was that?" Elisabeth mumbled, not quite listening.

"Nothing," Zoe muttered. Was is Mother Nature? No. She didn't quite seem to fit in with this group. Maybe the Groundhog? ...Or Jack Frost?

Jack Frost might work, but the system hadn't really been sure what he looked like. There were different theories all around, but one really stuck with Zoe. She'd draw him to look like her older brother.

Well, not completely like Josh. I mean, Josh wasn't magical. Otherwise, Zoe was sure that Kara would still be alive. First, Zoe drew her basic human outline. It looked about as good as a five-year-old could get. After that, she drew his hair. It looked a bit like her older brother's, except it was messier and white. Jack frost always had white hair; that's one thing the myths could agree on. A quick face and the head was complete.

Now, onto the next problem. What would Jack Frost wear? As if on cue, a colder-than-normal chill swept through the house, almost as if it was ruffling Zoe's hair. One glance up led to an enormous surprise that would change her life forever.

~~~oOo~~~
Jack jumped when he heard the scream. It wasn't the terrible, blood-curdling kind of scream. There was more delight in the sound than fear. His neck instantly snapped toward the sound, revealing a little girl standing at the door. She was staring right at them. Jack instinctively looked around to find what she was really looking at, but there wasn't anyone or anything else around.
"Can you see us?" Tooth gasped, voicing what the other Guardians had been dying to ask. They all looked just as baffled as Jack felt. To their surprise and overwhelming delight, the little girl nodded. Jack felt joy flooding through every fiber of his being. Somebody was actually looking at them!
"Zoe! What's wrong?" came a voice from behind her. The Guardians watched as a woman appeared in the doorway. She looked like an older version of her daughter. Jack assumed that she was Zoe's mother.
"Mommy! Look!" she called happily, pointing at the spot where the Guardians were currently standing. "I can do magic! I drew them and they came to life!"
"Oh. That's nice, sweetie," she said, trying to sound optimistic while staring at blank space in front of her. Jack, meanwhile, was still trying to grasp the fact that this little girl from a different time could see them. He thought that their legend had died out years ago.
"Come inside!" Zoe called, motioning for them to step inside the house. After a few exchanged glances and shrugs, the Guardians followed their first believer in years to her front door.
So, yeah. I'm going to try to lengthen the chapters as they progress. So, what did you think? Am I moving too fast? Because I kinda feel like I am. I hope you enjoyed it. :3 Thanks for reading!
