Number one priority.

Chapter 2: Meeting the Girls.

Jamie pov

I sat in the back of my best friend's car. Myself, Emma, Rosalyn, Katelyn, and Becky were going to get our new robotic vehicles. I would, according to the letter I received, be getting the one called Heatwave. I wrapped my arms around myself for the odd sense of comfort it provided. Kate turned to me from the passenger's seat and gave me a sad smile.

I didn't feel right, taking the rescue bots from the Burns family. I already took their youngest member.

Flashback

Cody and I were skateboarding in the park, when we saw Kade's fire truck zoomed by. We waited for the rest of the team to pass by as well, but they didn't. Curiosity got the better of us and we skated after him.

We arrived at a huge fire, we couldn't see Kade anywhere. Cody ran over to a man and I slowly followed. "He went in there, said something about… Wait, you aren't in there?" Cody blinked in confusion, but I got it. "Kade thinks you're in there!" I yelped. Cody gasped and, before I could grab him, he ran into the building. I started to go after him, when someone grabbed my arm. "Jamie, what are you doing here? I thought you were with Cody at the park!" I turned and gasped in horror "K-Kade?! But, that guy said…" I turned to find the man was gone and not three seconds later there was a huge explosion.

End

A tear rolled down my face and Rosalyn pulled me into a hug. "Still thinking about Cody?" I looked down, if I had waited even a second longer to explain to Cody what that man had said Kade would have been there to stop Cody.

Emma pov

I looked in the rearview mirror at Jamie. She was only sixteen, but she had been severally depressed by the loss of her nearest and dearest friend. Even we couldn't replace what she and Cody had had. He was why she made this little band of rescuers after the Burns family started to slip up in their duties.

Heatwave pov

We stood on the helipad waiting for our new partners. A small car pulled in and the five girls got out. The smallest by far, was my future partner. She wasn't as happy as she had looking in the photo. Her eyes had lost their sparkle. But, what she lacked in joy her friends seemed to make up for. They were acting like teenagers were expected to upon seeing giant robots. Two of them ran up to Blades with huge identical grins. "Wow, Mr. Burns, hard to think you guys had something so cool!" Blades, in robot mode, knelt down "Greeting, Katelyn and Rosalyn Marx, I am designation, Blades."

Jamie walked over to my side and I did the same as Blades. She watched me for a moment before d looking over at the rest of her team. "Emma, Twins, Becky, let's go. We have a lot to do before seven." Jamie turned to me "Heatwave, please transform." I transformed and the tiny girl opened my door. She fastened her seatbelt and called out the door "Roll out!" before closing it.

Rosalyn pov

I sighed and looked at my twin. She looked at me with that look of worry only Jamie could make her wear. I climbed into Blades and put on my helmet followed by Katy. Once we were high enough in the air to be out of hearing of the other girls, I grinned "So, you guys are all sentient aliens?" I asked. "WHAT?!" yelped Blades faltering for a second. Katy and I leaned against each other laughing. "The chief said you didn't…" I interrupted "My beautiful, twin here happens to also be an excellent hacker and was able to find the info quite easily."

Blades muttered to himself about human females and their need to scare to scare him so bad all the time. "Well, at least you two don't yell at me for any reason."

Emma pov

As I sighed, I looked to the consol where the blank hologram face of Chase was. I rolled my eyes "You can drop the act, pal. I got a bit of a heads up from Frankie before she and the Doc left for the main land after Cody… Anyway, I know you're not some stupid robot." The face looked surprised at first, but at the mention of Frankie it showed understanding. "I see, yes, that explains it. But, I must now ask, Miss Jamie seems a little…"

"Down in the dumps?" I finished "Yeah, she blames herself for what happened to Cody. They were best friends after you all left." Chase nodded "Perhaps it is for the best that Optimus placed her with Heatwave."
