The Stories
A/N: Chapter two edited. Getting through this quickly. Enjoy you guys.
Bella's POV
"I remember the day Emmett was changed," I started, looking at my hands "For three days I had stayed in our tree house. I would stay there all day, for the next three days. On the third day, a guy came and changed me. I felt so much pain for three days. My insides were burning. I couldn't stop screaming. And then I remember waking up, alone. I felt so thirsty, so I ran out and drank from a deer. At first I didn't think anything of it, but when the thirst calmed down, I couldn't believe what I had done. I left home with the money I had been saving. I went to Alaska overnight. I met these other vampires, the Denali? They took me in and help me keep the diet. They kept asking if I had a brother, it hurt me so I kept quiet.
"I stayed with them for a year. I decided to leave after the year was over. I felt like I had to go look for something, someone. I thanked them and left. I met a few more vampires but I couldn't be happy, I felt like something was missing. I traveled the world, hoping to find a way to end my torture. I couldn't live without this guy," I said pointing at my brother, a small smile on my face. I knew, if I could, I would be crying. "Then I met the Royalty. Aro couldn't read my mind. At the time, they were getting ready to feed. They made me feed with them. The blood was like nothing I had tasted before. I left a few years later, and traveled. And now I'm here, with you all."
"Bella, did you ever have a mate?" My brother asked, staring at me. I knew he would want to know about that, but I knew it would just anger him.
"Oh that," I whispered, not really wanting to think about it, to remember. But it was my brother, and his family asking, and I felt the need to answer them. "Yeah but—" I stopped, not knowing how to say it.
"What is it?" Emmett asked, his voice filled with concern. "Did, did something happen?"
"Well, he was the guy who changed me. Before I went with the Volturi, I was in a relationship with him," I said, a frown on my face. I looked up to see my brother and his family's face.
"What happened?" Rosalie asked, her voice soft, as if she was afraid of setting me off. And she was right.
I got up and started to pace. I ran my hand through my hair, trying to think of how to word what I wanted to say. "I left the Denali coven. I just traveled around, until I met him. He explained how my blood smelt so good that day, and he had to take a taste. He told me how he wanted to mate with me. And I was new to all this, so I said yes," I told them, a humorless laugh escaping me, "I met with him, and we traveled together. He was so friendly and sweet. After years of being together, he asked me to marry him. I said yes. He was so happy and we started planning everything. But then, I would see him less and less. One day, I decided to follow him. He was at a place with his human friends. At first I was okay with it. I didn't care. Then she came in. She went up to him and kissed him. It took everything I had not to attack. I went home and waited for him to return.
"When he did, he brought the girl and a friend. I asked him about her. He just laughed at my face. They attacked me and his friend was able to take away someone's vampire powers. They took mine away and locked me in the basement." I took a deep breath. "I was in the basement for three months. Three fucking months! I didn't feed or move. I was too weak to even blink. They did visit me only to make fun of me. They tortured me! And I couldn't even fight back.
"Then one day, on our anniversary, two other vampires came. They said they killed one of them. The other two ran away. You know who left, him and his bitch. So they took me to Volterra. There, I killed half the people that they were going to kill. I regret ever meeting him, but then again, I wouldn't have met my new sister and made two best friends."
"How was it? Being unable to feed?" Edward asked me, looking interested in the story.
"Horrible. It's like a human without food and water, Superman and kryptonite. It makes you so weak," I explained, a frown on my face.
"You got your powers back?" Emmett asked.
"Yes," I said, "when the guy died, my powers came back to me, but I was still very weak. I still am. It took a lot out of me, emotionally and physically. It was weird, it was like my body can never fully recharge after what they did to me."
"Oh," Emmett whispered, looking away. I knew he must have been feeling horrible for leaving me. If he hadn't left me, I wouldn't have been in pain. I couldn't look at him anymore. I just turned my attention to the rest of the family.
"So what's your story?" I asked, wanting to get the attention off of me. "Who was the first to change?"
"Oh I was changed first. I changed Edward, Esme, Rosalie, then Emmett. Jasper and Alice came to us," Carlisle told me, understanding what I wanted.
"Who is with who?" I looked around the room. Everyone seemed to be paired off, except Edward. It seemed obvious as to who was with whom, but I still wanted them to talk, to move on from my story.
"Esme is my wife," Carlisle said, smiled at Esme.
"Alice is mine," Jasper said, and he leaned over and kissed Alice's cheek.
"And you know my wife," Emmett said smiling, although it didn't reach his eyes like before.
"I'm single," Edward said.
"So, what are your stories?" I asked. "Let's start with the first person who was changed."
"Oh I was changed years ago. Before you all were thought of. In my time people burned whoever they thought were witches and vampires. So one day I was out and a vampire bit me. I changed and went into hiding. I travel just like you. And I even ended up with the Volturi. I later came to Chicago," Carlisle said.
Edward went next. "My turn. So I was dying of Spanish Influenza. My mother begged Carlisle to save me. So he bit me. I decided to travel alone for a while. Then I met back up with Carlisle who was with Esme."
"I was married. My son had just died and I was devastated. So I went to a cliff and jumped off. At the hospital they said I had died but my heart was beating slowly so it was undetectable. Carlisle found me and changed me. After that day I was his mate. Then we met Rosalie," Esme told me.
"Okay, I was the daughter of a banker. This guy wanted to marry me. I said yes and he was nice and sweet. Then one day I was walking home and he was there with his friends drunk. They raped me and beat me on the side of the street," she told me, staring at her hands.
"I'm sorry," I told her. I gave her a small smile when she looked at me. She returned the smile and continues the story.
"Carlisle saved me and changed me and then I went to kill them. Then I was at the forest hunting when I met a guy."
"You know the beginning of my story but they don't," Emmett told me, "I'm going to say it. Okay, so my little sister and—" I interrupted him.
"Just five minutes!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. So as I was saying, we were the best of friends. We did almost everything together so one day we decided to go to our tree house. We spend hours there every day. So it was dark while we were going home. Then a bear got in our way. I told her to leave. When she finally did the bear attacked and I woke with Rosalie staring at me. Then I woke up as a vampire. We later met two other people."
Jasper went to continue the story. "I was a war guy. I went to war and a vampire bit me. She made me train Newborns and then I decide to leave. I stayed with this couple. They were in love and I could feel it. I didn't want to be a third wheel so I left again. I traveled alone until I met my wife."
"I don't know my human past. All I know is that I was in an asylum. The vampire, whom changed me, told me that I was being hunted. I had a vision of meeting Jasper and the Cullens. So I went looking for him. I found him and we went looking for the Cullens." Alice told me.
"So Emmy, how did you feel about the split?" I asked, wanting to know more about my brother and his new life.
"Well, I was devastated." Emmett made sure to keep eye contact with me. It felt like I knew how he felt, which was true. I really did know how he felt.
"He went crazy," Carlisle told me.
"He was over thinking everything. So I didn't know why he was acting like that. I couldn't get a solid thought out of his head," Edward commented.
"Then he would just freeze. He didn't talk. It took a lot of fighting to get him to feed. Especially around his birthday," Rosalie said, "which we now know is also yours."
"No matter what I sent him, he was always sad," Jasper added.
"If Rosalie ever got mad at him, he would get ready for the Volturi," Alice said.
"And he never was as happy as he is now," Esme finished, looking at me.
"So," I started.
"Yeah, how did mom and dad react to my disappearance?" Emmett whispered. He could see it in him; he wanted to change the subject.
"That," I said looking down. I didn't want to see his face when I told him what I was going to tell him. "They, uh well they died that same day."
"What?" Emmett asked, his face devastated by the revelation. "So you had no family left?"
I nodded my head, not trusting my voice at the second.
"How did they die?"
"They were murdered," I whispered, biting my lip.
"By who?" Emmett asked, anger in his voice. I knew he knew who it was. I just knew it.
"Hmm, oh I don't know," I ansewred, sarcastically.
"Him," Emmett growled, his body shaking.
I nodded.
"What's his name?" Alice asked me.
"J-James," I whispered really low, but they were able to hear me.
All of them froze.
"What?" I asked, confused. They all looked shocked by the name I told them.
Emmett's POV
"What?" She asked, alert and curious. We didn't really do a great job hiding the shock.
"N-nothing," Rosalie stuttered. That was a sight to see. Rosalie had been confident the whole time I've known her. I never thought she would ever be nervous about anything.
"No, tell me," she told us, urging us.
Oh how am I supposed to tell my sister that her ex, the guy who tortured her and killed my parents is our families' friend? That guy is going to get it, I thought, or I thought I did.
"Y-you're all friends with him?" She asked, frowning at me.
We nodded.
"Oh," was all she said.
I felt so bad. I couldn't believe he did that.
"And her name?" Jasper asked, wanting to know if the "she" was the person we were all thinking about.
"Victoria."
"I knew something was up with that bitch," Rosalie told me, a growl in her voice.
"What do you mean?" Alice asked, turning to my wife.
Everyone looked at Rose.
"She kept looking at Emmett. Like she knew him. She seemed to want to kill him. Like she wanted to do to him what she did to you," she told her and the rest of us.
Bella looked like she was going to kill them.
"Bella, revenge doesn't do any good," I told her, knowing my sister, but at the same time, the girl in front of me was not the girl I once knew. I didn't know how much of her I still knew. How much was the same girl I knew once.
She smiled at me, giving me a sweet smile, one that was not all that sweet. "Don't you want them to die too? After what they did?"
"Yes, but that's not the way," I told her.
"Bullshit! You don't know what I've been through! My twin brother, my other half disappeared, and then my parents were murdered. I had no one for years!" she shouted at me, her small body shaking with anger.
"I lost my sister and my parents too," I told her.
"It's different! You had these people. For years, I had no on! No one! You don't know what it's like to be alone! I'm not surprised you aren't waiting for me to leave," she whispered the end. Her voice breaking as she thought what she said were true.
"No, I would never be happy if you left," I said. I tried to hug her, but she pulled away.
"Yeah, right," she whispered, moving away from me and wrapping her arms around herself, as if she was holding herself, making sure she didn't break apart.
"Belly Bear, I love you. You are my whole world. No one and I mean no one can ever replace you." I tried hugging her again and this time she let me.
"I love you too, Emmy Bear," she whispered to me, as she wrapped her arms around me.
I decide then that we should change the subject. I wanted to make things right, because I had my sister back. Something I didn't think would ever be possible. I had my twin back. We were finally together.
"So what do you want to do?" I asked, moving so I still had my arm around her, but I wasn't standing in front of her anymore.
"I'm not in the mood to do anything," she said, plainly.
I looked around and noticed my family wasn't around. They probably wanted us to have a moment alone to talk our things out.
"How about a game with the family?" I asked.
She shrugged, and nodded. I knew it was going to be good.
Bella's POV
We went to the kitchen and only the "kids" were there. Emmett grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the table. He sat down next to Rosalie, and putted at the chair next to him. I smile and sat down next to him. I still couldn't believe I had my brother back, after so many years.
"Where are your parents?" I asked Emmett, looking around the table. It was just the "teenage vampires."
"Carlisle went to work at the hospital. Esme went shopping," he responded, his attention on Alice and Jasper.
"Let's play," Alice told everyone, clapping her hands.
"Play what?"
"We don't know either," Rosalie told me, giving me a small smile and a shrug.
I sigh, and wait until they decided on something.
Alice stood up and clapped her hands again. She really liked clapping her hands. "Okay, so we are playing our monthly Cullen Olympics."
Emmett seemed to perk up. "Oh, it's that time of the month already?"
"Yeah, so who is with who?" Jasper asked, look at the two people. I still had no idea what was happening, but I decided to just watch and listen to the others.
"Me and my two best girls," Emmett told everyone, putting his arms behind my chair and Rosalie's.
"Okay, so same rules as always?" Edward asked.
"No extra powers."
"Okay," Alice responded. They all stood up and headed out. I followed behind, not really sure what the "Cullen Olympics" were.
We all went to the forest. It was night. Edward, Jasper, and Alice huddled up.
"What are we doing?" I asked, still confused.
"We have a series of competitions and the team with the most points wins. Usually it's two on two, but now we all get to play." Emmett explained, excitement in his voice.
"Okay, so what are the things we are doing?" I asked. I still didn't know what it was, but I assumed I would learn along the way.
"Oh that," Emmett said trying to think.
"We race, swim, and fight. One person per game," Rosalie answered instead.
"So who's doing what?"
Emmett raised his hand. "I'm fighting."
"I'm swimming," Rosalie volunteered.
"And I'm running?" I asked, not sure.
They nodded.
"You guys ready?" Alice called from the other side of the small clearing.
We nodded.
"Okay so the order is?"
"Swimming, fighting, and then run," Edward told me.
"Okay. So swimming? Where do you swim?" I asked. I felt myself being annoying, but I really had no idea what was happening.
"There is a lake near here and you have to swim around three times," Jasper told me.
"And fighting?"
"We go to this clearing. The two people have to fight. The thing is to knock the person down for ten seconds or get them into the forest," Alice explained.
"And the running?"
"You have to run from where the forest begins to where it ends four times," Edward told me.
I nodded.
"Let's go," Jasper told us, leading us to the lake.
We went to the lake. It was so beautiful. The water was clean and clear. I could see the stars in the water. Rosalie and Alice were the last two to get to the lake. They had changed into bikinis, probably to swim and not ruin their clothes. I just watched as Rosalie and Alice got to the edge.
Edward was the first to call out. "Ready."
Emmett was second. "Set."
"Go!" Jasper and I exclaimed. I had never felt so excited in my life.
They jumped in the pool and started swimming.
