Chapter 2

There was a line of various warriors standing in front of the Kingdom's gate. The Vamp Nation was supposed to invade today, and they were ready to defend themselves. The guards were lined in a defensive pattern, awaiting for orders from the head guard.

The head guard noticed a figure approaching from the distance. "Hold your ground. They could be dangerous." He said.

As the figure approached, it was revealed to be Lincoln, dragging the dead Vamp Nation captain he had just killed. The guards rose their weapons in defense.

Lincoln just waved them off. "At ease, I'm no threat. Besides, even if I wanted to kill you, you would've been dead already." Lincoln said. He then turned to the head guard, and dropped the body of the dead captain. "How's this for a peace offering?"

The head guard looked down. "Wait, this is their captain. Sir, how did you manage this?"

Lincoln chuckled. "Some helpful innovation you could say." He said.

The head guard scratched his chin. "I see. Well, we appreciate what you've done here. You saved my troops a lot of trouble. Is there anyway the people of this nation could repay you?" He asked.

Lincoln thought about it. "Well, I don't want to sound greedy, but could I maybe get some decent food? I've mostly been eating the wild beasts that roam that wastelands out there for the past 10 years, along with the occasional, uh, person." He said.

The head guard nodded. "Yes, we can offer you food. But if it's possible, we'd like you to talk with our queen first."

Lincoln smiled. "No trouble at all, hunger doesn't really irritate me anymore. In fact, I was kind of hoping to meet her, because there are some things I need to discuss with her."

Two guards were walking together, and stopped in front of the Queen's throne. One of them spoke. "My queen, there is someone here to see you."

The Queen looked at the two knights. "Well, what do you hesitate for? Show them to me." She said before sipping a cup of tea. When the guards moved to reveal Lincoln behind them, the Queen nearly spit her tea out.

Lincoln just waved.

The Queen put the cup down and stood up. She then walked toward him. "How? Wait, no. There's no way you're the boy I sent away 10 years ago."

Lincoln's smile grew. "I'm afraid you're mistaken your highness. I have returned like I promised. 10 years on the dot."

The Queen looked at his condition. "Well, surely you must be in need of a freshening up. Guards, fetch this poor man an outfit from our storage."

Lincoln just rose his hand. "No offense your highness, but I'm fairly certain my outfit is better than the ones you keep in the storage. They're the same clothes given to prisoners after all."

The Queen rose an eyebrow. "Let's see if your bold words also stand against the food my chefs prepare." She said.

Lincoln scratched the back of his head. "You have me there, I'll give you that."

The Queen smirked. "Thought so. By the way, what's the name of your pet?" She asked.

Lincoln was confused. "Pet? I don't have a pet."

The Queen then pointed at his shoulder. "Then what is that?"

Lincoln looked over his shoulder and saw a black spider-like creature that was pitch black in color and smoky in nature. The creature jumped from his shoulder toward the Queen. As she hid behind her arms for defense, she felt nothing. She uncovered herself to see that Lincoln had caught it.

Lincoln then chucked the thing away and pulled out his sword. "Get out of my town!" He said as he ran towards it. More of the strange creatures came through the castle's door. A few tried jumping at Lincoln, but he sliced them all down. The swarm then retreated.

Lincoln ran after them. "Get back here you pests!" He screamed. The swarm then joined another swarm, a larger one. All the creatures then started melting together. Lincoln just had an angry look on his face. "I've had it with these smogs."

The smogs then formed one giant tarantula-esque monster, also smoky in nature. It too was pitch black, but had blood red eyes made from the rare red colored smogs that formed with the common black ones.

Lincoln just smirked. "I'm not scared of you. Don't think you stand a chance." He said.

The mega smog's back then sprouted a weird claw-like appendage and tried using it to grab Lincoln. He sliced at the claw, causing the "blood" of the monster to start dripping. The claw appendage then sank back into the creature's body. Lincoln then sliced at the mega smog's eyes, knowing them to be the creature's weak spot. He then jumped up and sank his sword into the mega smog's big center eye.

The mega smog broke apart, becoming the hundreds of tiny smogs that formed into it. The swarm then fled, terrified of the white haired warrior. Lincoln put his sword back into the sheath that hung from his back, and went back to the castle.

When Lincoln returned, the two knight walked up to him. "What were those things?" One of the knights asked.

Lincoln sighed and looked at the knights. "Smogs, probably the scariest sons of guns you'll find out there in the wastelands."

The Queen then walked up. "Why is that?"

Lincoln looked back at the door. "Cause once you mess with them, they'll follow you to the ends of the earth until they kill you, or you kill them. They'll ambush you when you're at your most vulnerable, otherwise known as, when you think they're gone. They're the reasons why most exile savages die."

The Queen was confused. "But, then why did they run?"

Lincoln turned back toward the Queen. "Cause despite being terrifying as hell, they're complete cowards. Once they feel even remotely threatened, they'll run away faster than a crawler on experimental medicine."

The Queen then thought a bit, and then looked back at Lincoln. "Well, we'll make sure to be prepared for any that may come here. In the meantime, I'm sure you'd like something to eat."

Lincoln sighed. "That, that would be real nice right now." He said.

Out in the Wastelands

The silhouette of a woman could be seen talking with the leader of the Vamp Nation. The woman spoke. "Your captain failed his mission. Your nation is nowhere close to what I expected you to be."

The leader then scoffed. "Well it seems your troops didn't do much either."

The woman grabbed the leader by the throat and lifted him off the ground. "You'd better still your tongue if you wish to keep it." The woman said before throwing the man to the ground. "I will not tolerate backtalk, or failure. You and your people better do what I say, and they better do it right, or it's lights out for your whole nation."

The woman then seemingly floated away, still remaining a simple silhouette.

A/N: That's the second chapter. AP100 out.
