A/N: Jin's feelings when Zuko doesn't show up for the date.
Jin had waited at the Eastern gate until sundown. And Lee hadn't shown up. He'd promised! He'd asked her to come. Why wasn't he here?
Jin sighed and walked to the Tea Shop that Zuko's uncle Mushu owned. There, she found a surprise.
"Excuse me, are you Jin?" A young man asked.
"Yes, I am." Jin responded, rather puzzled.
"I have a message for you, from Lee." The man paused, then continued. "He sends his apologies as to not coming to the picnic as he'd planned. He was given the honor of accompanying his esteemed uncle to the palace to serve the Earth King. He requests that you meet him in the same place as before, tomorrow."
"When you see him, tell him I will!" Jin was ecstatic. Not only had Lee not forgotten, he had even made plans to try again! And to serve the Earth King... Why, that was a tremendous honor! She was so proud of Lee.
That night, the Fire Nation invaded Ba Sing Se. Later in the next weeks, Jin searched for Lee while avoiding the Fire Nation patrols.
She couldn't find him. Lee and his Uncle were gone.
Jin cried herself to sleep each night, sure that Lee and Mushu had been killed at the palace.
