(SORRY I FORGOT TO EDIT THE FIRST TIME! I meant to edit it, but I've accidentally submitted it without doing so, so please forgive me for that.)

(Edit: The chapters have been organized more clearly to make it easier to read. Also, I added a bit more content to make the story flow more smoothly.)

Chapter 2 - Doubts

"Alright Hiccup, so what you re saying is that there's supposedly a magical amulet, which is also the last of its kind, that allows us to talk to dragons, and only reveals itself to someone who is 'worthy?'" asks Astrid. "Yeah, that's pretty much it," replied Hiccup.

Shortly before, Hiccup and Fishlegs had discovered an ancient book that contained mysterious and unknown knowledge with the amulet being among them. Now that Hiccup and Fishlegs told the rest of the teens about their discovery, a discussion, if you can call it that, arises.

"I'm not sure that this amulet actually exists or not," she questioned Hiccup. "For all we know, this could just be either a bunch of munge or some elaborate way to single out weaker Vikings so that the stronger ones have a chance at it," continued Astrid. "Which also sounds like munge to me."

Hiccup is starting to have doubts of his own, but ignores them for now. "You don t know that, Astrid," countered Hiccup. "I mean, this amulet could very well be real."

"Actually Hiccup, I'm going to have to agree with Astrid on this," said Fishlegs, although somewhat hesitant about it. "Other than the book, there's not much evidence to indicate it's existence, and even that could be fabricated."

Hiccup falters a bit, but doesn't show it. "I see your reasoning Fishlegs and I like to agree with you, but I just have this feeling that it really is out there," said Hiccup, commenting on what he said.

"Alright, let's suppose that this amulet really does exist and is capable of doing what you said it does," Astrid says, creating a scenario. "Who would actually be worthy?" The group talk amongst themselves debating on who would be worthy of this Amulet.

Meanwhile...

Toothless has ventured deep into the Berkian forest, searching for something, anything to catch his interest. Bored, he yawns, deciding that now would be a good time to nap. He searches for a spot to sleep until he came upon a clearing in the forest, the perfect spot to nap.

He scorched the ground to make a bed for himself and lies down to take, in his mind, a well deserved nap. as he is drifting off to sleep, the wind suddenly picks up in the area, rustling the trees and underbrush nearby. Toothless, annoyed by this, curls up tightly and tunes it out. What he doesn't notice though is that the wind is localized around a spot almost next to him.

Back at the Group...

Suddenly, Snotlout stands up to speak.

"It would be DEFINITELY me, am I right guys?" Snotlout stated as if it were true. Everyone present had variations of the same thought. 'He can t be serious, right?'

"Oh really, and what make you think that?" asked Astrid. "Isn't it obvious guys?" he asked and waited, only to answer Himself.

"I'm handsome, strong, selfless, and brave, unlike any of you." "Um, what about being smart?" inquired Fishlegs. "Why would anyone care about being smart when all that matters is being buff?" "Maybe so you would actually have a higher IQ than your age?" Hiccup asked sarcastically.

The group sniggers as Snotlout turns red in the face. "Well at least I'M brave and strong and you re NOT, you-"

"Don't even THINK about finishing that!" Astrid growls while balling up her fists.

"Besides, all you are is a big, wimpy scaredy cat!" Ruffnut retorts. "Am not, I am the bravest Viking in all of- AHHHHHH!" Snotlout screams like a girl as he gets scared by Tuffnut.

Everyone but Snotlout bursts out laughing at this. He glares but remains quiet, for now at least.

"It'll actually be me who is worthy guys," says Tuffnut. "No, it'll be me, you doofus!" argued Ruffnut. "No it'll be me!" "No, me!" another endless argument has started between them.

"I'm more worthy than you!" "No, I am!" "You're not worthy enough!" "YOU'RE not worthy enough!" "What's THAT supposed to mean?"

"Oh for the love of Thor, could you please stop arguing for FIVE MINUTES!?" Astrid shouts out in frustration, she then takes a calming breath. This immediately shuts the twins up, who were obviously afraid of her.

"Hiccup, in all honesty, I think you would be the most worthy one here," said Fishlegs. "What?" He looks at him questioningly. "Why?"

"Well, the reasons why is because you're the first dragon rider, you've ended a 300-year-long war between Viking and dragons, AND you've completely changed the way of life on Berk as we know it," said Astrid. "Not to mention that you're selfless,"

Hiccup blushed at this comment. "W-While I agree with what you say, I just really don t know if I am or not."

"Hiccup," she began. "You have done so many great things in such a short amount of time and even then, you had the potential to be someone great." "We just never saw that because we were too stubborn to do so," Astrid explained to Hiccup while a couple of teens were confused about what she meant.

"No one else deserves this more you Hiccup, you re the most worthy one out of all of us." "I really wish that I could believe this, I really do," Hiccup s tone became somber as he continues. "It's just that, maybe you were right earlier," he said. "Maybe..." He doesn't finish what he is saying, finally accepting his doubts.

'Maybe the amulet doesn't exist after all.'

Away from the Group...

In the woods, the winds are howling as they circle around where Toothless is. Suddenly, there was a high-pitched noise, quiet at first, but grows steadily louder. It eventually grows loud enough to wake up Toothless, who tries looking for the source of the noise, but fail as it grows louder, it starts to disorientate him as loud noises affect all dragons. Eventually, the villagers and even the group start to pick up on the noise, eventually affecting every other dragon there as well.

Near the dragon, a red light suddenly appears in mid-air, quickly growing in brightness and intensity. It gains a white hue in the center as it continues to expand, sending out vibrations that shakes the earth. Shockwaves then start to occur; first there was one shockwave, then there were two shockwaves, then three shockwaves and so on, each increasing with strength.

The shockwaves continued, the light grew brighter, and the noise kept getting louder until everything stopped for a moment, only for there to be an instantaneous, mid-air explosion. The immediate area is bathed in red-white light while the surrounding area gets engulfed in it.

It spreads out until it engulfs the whole island. Everything brightens until nothing can be seen. Then nothing else happens, silence reigns.

Notes:
- Okay, I did not expect to take the story in this direction. Oddly enough though, I like it this way.
