I sat at the edge of my bed, rummaging through my suitcase. "I know I brought it," I murmured to myself. I sighed, and dug deeper through the layers of clothing I had packed. It was hot. Mixed with my utter fatigue, the heat was almost too much to bear. A bead of sweat ran across my forehead. Wiping it away, I lay back on the bed. The blanket felt cool underneath my hot body. I stared blankly at the ceiling above me. Dark wooden planks. Nothing spectacular. I don't know what I had been expecting. Maybe a ceiling lined in gold or silver. Probably in first class, I thought.

"I promise I'll write in the journal every day. I'll tell you everything. It'll be like you were there with me." My own words rang in my ears.I sat upright again, rubbing my tired eyes. Only for you Tier, I thought to myself as I continued to search my bag for the journal I had brought along.

I sat on the dock for a very long time after the ship had departed. For hours I sat there, my bare feet dangling towards the water beneath me. The wind playfully whipped my hair around my face. Numerous times it tried to crawl under the skirt of my dress. I barely noticed. She'll be back, I told myself. It isn't forever. I sighed and blew a strand of hair from my face. I knew that I was being silly. I was too old to be missing Thea as much as I was. But she was my twin. My other half. I didn't like being apart from her. "Tierney?" I looked up from the water. My father stood behind me. "It's time to go home." I nodded, wistfully looking towards the horizon that the Titanic had disappeared into earlier. "Ok," I said. "Let's go."
