"Rise and shine!" Eleanor sang loudly, barging into Jessie's room. She covered her ear with her pillow and tried to continue sleeping.
"I said, RISE AND SHINE!" she sang again, louder and more off-key.
"Okay, okay, shut up already!" Jessie snapped, throwing her pillow across the room, missing Eleanor by inches.
"You've got lots of hair," the girl commented, twirling a lock of dark brown hair. "Maybe you should cut it. Look how it's everywhere on your face!"
"I'm going to gel it up, thank you very much," she returned angrily, spraying her long magenta hair with hairspray.
"Okay. When?"
"Just leave me alone!"
"No way! If I leave you alone, all I'm gonna do is tell James about your little secret." Eleanor grinned widely.
"What secret?" Jessie hissed, pulling on her skirt.
"You know, how you love James. Right? That's true, right?" The girl now was jumping up and down and being hyper.
"What do you know about that?" she whispered, scowling. "How? Why? When? I don't even know what I'm saying!"
"I've seen you," Eleanor smiled. "You get all happy when James is around. You try to hide it, but it's not working. Trust me, I know."
