A GALAXY AT WAR
Chapter Two
"Arrogance diminishes wisdom."
A heavy snowstorm was coming down on them as they landed on the surface of Orto Plutonia. Zenovia was indifferent to the billowing winds and heavy snowfall, whereas Masters Kenobi and Skywalker had to exert themselves. She followed closely behind her master as they exited the shuttle with the clones filling out behind them. A sense of awe filled her at the sight of the blizzard. The endless visions of snow were comforting to her. Despite the contrasting natures of weather between Pantora and Orto Plutonia, Zenovia felt secure in the tundra landscape. Upon hearing the two Jedi Knights converse Zenovia snapped out of her daydream.
"And this is the planet's tropical zone." Master Kenobi sarcastically stated.
"It's not Tatooine, that's for sure." Skywalker retorted. She found it to be of a peculiar meaning to compare the two seemingly polar opposite planet's geographies. There were some commonalities and reflections to be made in the vast emptiness and uninhabited terrain. Both planets only held hardy flora and fauna to survive the threatening conditions. Zenovia was perplexed as to why Master Skywalker had such an interest in the desert planet before remembering that was where he was from.
She followed Master Kenobi as Skywalker gave instructors to Captain Rex about setting up their base. Standing alongside her master Zenovia peered up at him and noticed he was surveying the land. Following his gaze she too peered out across the visible horizon. He asked her what she saw before them and Zenovia took a moment to pause and reflect. There was not much, ice plains stretched on as far as the eye could see with some interruptions from tors. Other than the base beside them there did not appear to be much of anything.
"Master, this planet seems to be unpopulated and is composed of a frigid climate with icy plains and protruding rock formations."
General Kenobi approved of her observation and was about to elaborate when Chairman Cho Chi called out to him. Zenovia turned to see the Pantora party approaching them and she smiled at Senator Chuchi. Kenobi's advice to their political entourage was reasonable and meant in respect. In Zenovia's eyes she found it to be of an unemotional request for their safety- yet the Chairman was offended. Their conversation drew longer as the Chairman was vehemently fighting for his moon's right to govern the frozen land. Politics was something Zenovia was inexperienced in, and she wondered why the obtrusive dignitary even wanted control over Orto Plutonia. In his efforts to move on with the mission objectives and get away from the Chairman, Master Kenobi instructed Skywalker to remain with the politicians while Zenovia accompanied her master to secure the base.
Gathering her sense to a composed and resound state Zenovia followed her master inside. The clone squad around them had their blasters drawn and at the ready to fire at any danger. Zenovia thought that the only hostile being around was the Chairman. She felt all sorts of negative emotions and dark vibes from him that she longed to be free of his presence. In her adolescence Zenovia had developed her Force sensitive skills to a great degree- oftentimes she withdrew within herself to meditate and reflect on the Force. Even now she was certain that there were no other life forms in the base aside from the Jedi and clones.
Inside the base was a bizarre scene. In a half moon shape there were long wooden spears with helmets from clones placed upon them. Zenovia had never seen anything like it in her studies at the Temple. Curiously she turned towards her master to see what he had to think about the matter. Rather distastefully Chairman Cho Chi had decided to follow them inside and was locked in a single point of view. The bodies of the dead clones had no blaster marks anywhere on their armor, Zenovia noticed as she peered around. She followed her master as they headed to the upper levels of the base. Along the way even more evidence showed that this was no ordinary attack, much less involving the Separatists. Like the fallen clones the walls and structure of the base had no blaster marks- not to mention there were no droids anywhere.
Not before long Captain Rex reported to Master Kenobi that they had found a droid base across the ice ridge. Zenovia was instructed to ride in the side car of her master's speeder as they followed the new lead. Kenobi had pointed out previously that none of the computer systems had been damaged or even touched, further drawing out the mystery of what happened to the clones. The journey to the other base was quick and more snow started to fall as they traveled. Another half moon head formation was waiting for them as they approached the droids. General Kenobi lead them into the command center where after some brute force on Skywalker's behalf a short recording played. Zenovia watched as one droid was attacked by some large furry creature. Her master remarked that they must be a good warrior and Zenovia was beginning to think that this being did not act alone.
Author's Note
This chapter is not finished, as of now it is about 900 words and I intend to finish the cannon episode plot within the chapter. The delay is long I know, many thanks to the patient readers for I know the wait is hard sometimes. If you did not know this about me I am a college student and currently taking 17 credit hours (the American full time standard is 12 hours... so RIP me) and being a music major I have loads of other outside of class activities to attend to. Enjoy what small excerpt of this chapter I have currently written- it will go under more review as the rest of it is finished.
