Chapter 2:

Facing the Fear

A/N: I enjoyed writing the first chapter so much, that I got an idea for two more one shots. This will now be a three shot series. Hope you enjoy

The sound of screaming awoke Elsa in the night. She knew instantly where it was coming from: Isaac's room. With her motherly instincts in overdrive, Elsa leapt out of bed, grabbed a candle and a match, and ran to her son's bedroom. When she entered, she called out to him, while lighting the candle.

"Isaac, Isaac, sweetie, it's OK, mommy is here," she said.

When she got to Issacs's bedside, the glow from the candlelight revealed a terrified Isaac; tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Isaac, what's wrong?" Elsa asked.

"I had a dream…that daddy was gone, and you were gone…and there was no one," Isaac cried.

Elsa wrapped her arms around Isaac, whispering comforting words to him.

"It's OK, it's OK. I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere. You know what we're going to do? We're going to blow that bad dream away."

Isaac nodded, still crying profusely.

"Here let me catch it," Elsa said. She made a hand gesture as if she was actually catching the dream in her hands.

"There I caught it. Now, when I open my hands, we're going to blow the bad dream away, OK?

"Like the big bad wolf?" Isaac asked, remembering one of the stories he mother used to read to him.

"Just like the big bad wolf. Ready?"

As Elsa opened her hands, she and Isaac blew at the imaginary dream with their mouths. After a few seconds of blowing into the air, Isaac began to calm down.

"There you go. It's all gone now. You don't have to be scared anymore."

"What if it comes back?" Isaac asked.

Elsa smiled warmly. It won't sweetie. We blew it far, far away."

"Ok."

"You're going to be alright now. Try to go back to sleep. It'll be morning before you know it."

As Elsa gave her son a kiss goodnight, Isaac called out again to her.

"Mommy, could you sleep with me?"

Elsa turned around, giving her son a smile. "Of course, sweetie, but just for tonight."

Elsa slid under the covers, bringing Isaac close to her side. She wrapped her arms around him to make him feel safe and secure. With one hand, she gently stroked his blonde hair, which was identical to hers. Many years ago, Elsa would have never dreamed of touching someone like she was doing now, let alone her own child. The fear that once dominated her life would never allow for such a thing to occur. Now, here she was, a mother holding her child close to her side. Elsa remembered the day he was born. She instantly fell in love with him. He was so beautiful, she couldn't even speak. All she wanted to do was to hold him in her arms, and love him dearly.

Isaacc rested his head on Elsa's chest. Elsa looked down, and smiled at him. By now, he had begun to drift off to sleep.

Giving him a kiss one the head, she whispered, "Goodnight, Isaac. I love you so much."

A few moments later, the castle was quiet again. Mother and son slept soundly together. No bad dreams would disturb their peaceful slumber tonight.
