Harry awoke in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, his scar burning for the first time in over 25 years. Which in and of itself was unusual. It hadn't happened since the Dark Lord had met his end that fateful day at Hogwarts.
Ginny slowly stirred next to him. "What is it honey?" she asked, her eyes full of concern. "Have another nightmare?"
"It wasn't just a nightmare. I know it sounds unlikely, but I think he's back..."
"But that's impossible. Everyone was there when he fell. All the Horcruxes were destroyed, and he was hit with his own killing curse. Even if he had somehow made a sorcerer's stone, the Elixir of life wouldn't be enough to stop his death."
"I know. But I'm getting those old dreams like I did before. The ones where the scar burned as I awoke. And I saw him there with a man from Scotland. At least, I think he was. He spoke with a Scottish accent, but his eyes… they kept turning red."
"That would be Crowley." The voice was a new one, one that Harry had never heard before. He quickly jumped out of bed, wand quickly in hand. "Sorry. I forget how jumpy you wizards are."
The man was tall and slender, and had a drink in his hand. He stood about six foot, and seemed to walk with an air of arrogance that would have made the Malfoys envious. "Who the hell are you?" Harry asked. "and more importantly, what the fuck are you doing in my house, let alone my bedroom?"
"First of all, Mr. Potter, it would be much easier to take you seriously if you had some clothes on," the man said with a smirk. "I see you and your fiery redhead are still getting along swimmingly.
Harry looked down, and quickly summoned a robe from the wardrobe, his face beet red. This man would definitely make Malfoy proud.
Ginny wrapped the blankets tighter around her. "Answer his questions. You have no right to just aparate in here, and neither of us have ever met you. Explain yourself, before my husband curses you to the new decade."
The man dismissed her with a wave of his hand. "Don't make me laugh. Don't get me wrong your husband is powerful among your standards. But he would be dead before he could say 'Quidditch.' All the same, perhaps an introduction is in order. Might make things easier for Cas and I if we at least try to get along."
"My name is Balthazar. I know this will be hard for you to believe, but I am an angel. And thanks to a demon named Crowley, that was no dream. Voldemort really has returned. By the look of things, they have formed an alliance…"
He was cut short by the Potters' laughter. "I'm quite serious! This is no laughing matter!"
Harry wiped the tears from his eyes between laughs. "You have to be joking. Demons and angels... I bet George put you up to this."
Balthazar glared. "You won't be laughing when dementors are knocking at your door. Crowley already has them under his thumb. He created them in the first place. This won't be like the last time. I already know you saw the dementors in your vision. Why do you think your scar is hurting again, after so long?"
Harry went quiet. He hadn't even had a chance to describe the dream to Ginny yet, but somehow this man seemed to know all the details already. He had greatly improved his Occlumency, and these dreams shouldn't even be able to happen. Yet they were, and this man, Balthazar he claimed, was certainly convinced. "Okay, let's say you are telling the truth, and you are an angel. How would Crowley resurrect Voldemort? 25 years is a long time for a corpse to just re-animate itself and the soul to be replaced."
"Crowley is the king of Hell. Giving Voldemort a new body would be child's play for him. You saw him return to power yourself after 14 years, and he wasn't even a demon. Do you really think it would be so difficult? Look, we don't exactly have all night. My... colleague and I are in the works of getting some people together to fight this threat. Some are friends of yours, and it would be a lot easier if we had your help. If not, I'm sure Cas's American friends can handle it to an extent with Dumbledore's assistance"
Harry turned white. "Dumbledore has returned too?"
"Well, not yet. I was actually on my way there next. Cas and I agreed to meet at his grave at Hogwarts. We were thinking of also resurrecting the Marauders. We figure if Crowley is botching up the natural order with his army, then why shouldn't we make it an actual fight for him?"
Harry sat in thought for a moment. It was a lot to take in. Angels, demons, resurrection... and now supposedly Dumbledore is coming back and even his parents... He looked at Balthazar. "OK, I will help you. But on one condition. I want to see Dumbledore for myself. You bring him back, and then I will believe you."
Ginny spoke up. "I will send an owl to Ron and Hermione. Maybe together we can get the DA back..." she was cut off by an Owl breaking through the window, a red scroll in his beak bearing the school crest. She got up to read it, her face turning pale. "Harry, it's Albus. He's been attacked by dementors…"
Balthazar looked grim. "And so the first shot is fired."
Harry looked at him, his eyes furious. "You said you were going to the school to resurrect Dumbledore right? when do we leave?"
"Immediately," Balthazar responded. He put a hand on Harry's shoulder, and then they were gone.
