Chapter 2 - The Search Begins
Goku was happily humming while walking back to his home, and carrying a fish larger than his body on his shoulder. "You're going to taste so good!" Goku's stomach starts to make rumbling sounds. "You caught so many fish, Mister Hulk! Are you going to eat them all?" Goku looks over his shoulder at Hulk, who is carrying ten larger fish on his broad shoulders. Hulk smirks when he sees Goku wiping drool off his mouth. "Hulk will share with friend." Goku smiles wide, and increases his speed. His feet become blurs as he races along the path to reach his house. "Hurry, Mister Hulk! Let's cook these yummy fish up!" Goku doesn't see a speeding blue car coming down the road, and gets hit head on. Hulk's first concern is the condition of his friend, and drops his catch to check on him.
"Ow! What was that? Was it that creature over there who attacked me?!" Goku sat up, and started rubbing his sore head, and checked to make sure his fish wasn't stolen. "You're not getting my fish! I caught it fair and square! You get your own!" Goku reached behind his back, and took out his staff and held it with both hands to ward off an attack. Hulk watched his friend rush over to the overturned car, and tapped it with the end of his staff. A groaning sound could be heard from inside, then a girl with blue hair in her early teens could be seen rubbing a large goose bump on the top of her head. "Ooohh! What did I hit? Oh, no! I remember now...it was a kid on the road!" She started panicking, until she saw the young boy jump back from the vehicle taking up a defensive stance. "What are you...some kind of witch?! Your dark powers won't work on me! Nyoi-bō, extend!" Goku called out, and the staff glowed, and stretched out to impact the exposed underside of the car, and sent it spinning over several times. The car finally stopped spinning, and was right side up.
The young girl had a scared look in the cars driver seat, she then pulled out a gun, and started shooting Goku until he fell over and stopped moving. Hulk, who had been watching until now started growling getting the attention of the girl. "WAhhhh! What are you?! Get away, you monster!" She began shooting Hulk, and watched to her horror that the bullets were bouncing off of his muscled chest. "Puny humans all the same. Shoot Hulk! Try to hurt Hulk! Girl hurt friend!" Hulk yelled. He ran to the car, and picked it up easily over his head, and ripped the vehicle into two halves. Hulk threw away the two pieces, and stared angrily down at the girl who fell out.
The young blue haired girl was shaking like a leaf, with steady streams of tears escaping her eyes. "Oh, please don't kill me! I'm too young, and beautiful to die! WWWAAAAAHH!" The girl cried, and Hulk could see a puddle of liquid forming under her dress where she sat. Hulk turned up his nose, and held his large hands over his ears. "Peeing girl is hurting Hulk's ears!" The girl started wailing louder, and Hulk felt a large migraine forming in his head.
"Mister Hulk...are you saying that this is a human, and a girl?" Goku walked up to the girl in curiosity, and rubbed his sore face. Hulk nodded. "This is puny human girl. Hulk wants her to stop crying. Hulk not monster." Hulk said with a grim stare at the girl with his arms crossed over his chest. The girl heard this, and immediately stopped crying, and blushed in embarrassment.
"Umm...hey kid...could you, and your big green friend turn away for a few minutes? I have to change into a new outfit." Goku tilted his head to the side in confusion. "Why would you need to do something like that? We all have the same equipment...see?" Goku took his red belt off, and pulled his pants down exposing himself. The girl's blush went atomic red. "PULL YOUR PANTS BACK UP, YOU MORON! I'M A GIRL! I CAN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!" The girl shouted, and turned her back to Goku, and Hulk. Hulk started laughing loudly, and held his sides. Hulk managed to get his laughter under control, as Goku pulled his pants back up, and tied his belt back on.
"You mean there's a difference?! Well, my grandpa Gohan told me that if I ever met a girl, that I should be polite, and listen to what she says. So, I'll turn around." Goku said and turned his back to the girl. "Hulk not want peeing girl to cry. Hulk will do as well." Hulk turned around to give the girl the privacy she wanted.
She looked over her shoulder to make sure they weren't peeping, and took out a case from her pouch on her belt. "I think it was capsule number eight? Yeah, that's the one." The girl said to herself, then she tossed the small capsule in the air. It made a sound with a puff of smoke, and a large closet filled with different outfits appeared. She quickly took off her solid garments, and changed into a yellow dress with vertical thin black stripes on it with the word BULMA printed on the front in large letters. She clicked a button on the side of the closet, causing another puff of smoke with the small capsule taking its place. The girl put the capsule back in its case, and shouted. "Okay! You can turn back around now!"
Goku, and Hulk both turned around with Goku getting in the girl's personal space, and Hulk with a bored look on his face. "Girls sure are soft, and squishy looking..." Goku trailed off while poking her with the end of his staff. "Oh, yeah! My name is Goku, and this is my friend Mister Hulk! What's your name?" The girl batted away the end of the staff with her right hand, and had an embarrassed look. "It's Bulma." Goku blinked. Then he started laughing. "Bulma...that's a funny sounding name!" Goku said giggling. "It's not funny! My parents gave me the name, okay?! I didn't have any choice in the matter!" Bulma said grinding her teeth in anger. Goku saw that his laughter was upsetting her, and stopped to smile at her.
"Me, and Mister Hulk are going to my house to have some lunch! Come join us!" Hulk grumbled, and went to gather up his catch while the children talked to each other. Bulma had a thoughtful look, then reached into her side pouch, and took out a circular device. She clicked the tab on the top, and a radar showed on the front with a blinking small dot. "The radar's showing that the Dragonball is located up on that mountain. Does this little guy have it at his house? Better check this out." Bulma thought, and smiled at Goku. "Sure, kid. I'll go with you. Guess we're having fish, huh?" Bulma glanced over to the Hulk, and shuddered. "Hey, um...Goku? Does he have to come with us? He looks like the loner type to me." Bulma said getting Goku to turn around with his fish now flung over his shoulder. "Mister Hulk's not bad. He's my first real friend. He's coming with us!" Goku said with a hard stare at Bulma. "Okay, kid. Whatever you say." "Damn it! There goes my plan to win Goku over with my feminine wiles to get the Dragonball!" Bulma started to go through different scenarios in her head.
Hulk approached the two with his pile of fish, and dropped them at their feet. Goku dropped his fish to add to the pile. "Hulk is getting bored. Talk taking too long. Where is Goku's home?" Goku pointed to a small house atop a large mountain. "There it is, Mister Hulk! Right there on top of Mount Paozu!" Goku felt himself being lifted along with Bulma. "Hulk will get us there. Hold on." Hulk's leg muscles tensed, and he took a mighty leap getting a laugh of excitement from Goku, and a shriek of terror from Bulma. Hulk landed on top of Mount Paozu forming a large crater at his feet. Hulk lowered his cargo to the ground. "That was amazing! Can you teach me to do that?" Goku said hopping up, and down with excitement. "Ground! Solid ground! How I love you!" Bulma said with her lips kissing the ground while on her hands, and knees. Both Hulk, and Goku are giving her puzzled looks. "Why Peeing girl doing that?" Hulk looks down at Goku, who shook his head. "I don't know... maybe girls eat dirt?"
"WE DO NOT EAT DIRT!" Bulma screamed, and took big gulps of air into her lungs. "What was that?! How can you jump that high?!" Bulma pointed with a shaking finger at Hulk. "Hulk can, because Hulk is the strongest." Hulk grinned at Bulma with his large teeth showing, getting a large sweat-drop from Bulma. "Rrright... Okay." Bulma decided to try getting answers from Goku. "Did you know he could do something like that?" Goku nodded his head excitedly, and took both Bulma and Hulk's hands. "Yep! Come on inside you two, and I'll introduce you to Grandpa!" Bulma thought it was cute how excited Goku got, and Hulk was trying to remember an earlier conversation he had with Goku. "Hulk not sure. Did Goku say his Grandpa gone away?"
Goku ran inside the small house, and stopped in front of a small shrine with a round orange ball with four stars on top resting on a pillow. Goku bowed his head, and clasped his hands together in prayer. "Grandpa...I brought my two friends home, and one of them is a girl!" Bulma gasped when her eyes saw the Dragonball, and smiled widely. "The four star ball! It is here!" Bulma ran past Goku, and grabbed the ball. "Yes! I finally found it!" Bulma cried in joy, but soon frowned when Hulk's large hand took the ball from her, and placed it in Goku's waiting hands. "Thanks, Mister Hulk!" Goku smiled at his friend, and placed the ball back on the pillow. He then took his staff from his back, and pointed it in Bulma's face. "Why did you grab Grandpa?! He doesn't like to be touched like that!"
"That's not your Grandpa, kid. That's called a Dragonball, and its very valuable. Could you give it to me? Pretty please? Your Grandpa told you to be nice to girls, right?" Goku blew Bulma a raspberry, and pulled the bottom lid of his left eye down. "Blaaaah!"
Bulma had a dark grin on her face before it morphed into a playful look. "If you give me the Dragonball, I'll give you and Hulk a little peek." Bulma said with a blush, and lifted her skirt a little to show her white panties. Hulk turned away from looking. "Hulk is a man. Not interested in puny girl human." Bulma has a tick mark on her forehead when she heard that from the green giant, and turned to look at Goku sticking his tongue out like he ate something bad. "Who wants to look at your dirty bum."
"ITS NOT DIRTY!" Bulma cried out indignantly with an angry blush at the laughing Goku. Hulk chuckled at their antics, and then looked over to see the ball starting to glow. "Wha? Grandpa, what's the matter? Are you trying to tell me something?" Goku looked intently at the ball waiting for some answer. Bulma took this opportunity to get another capsule out of her case, and activated it. The smoke cloud cleared to show several other Dragonballs that were glowing in response to the four star balls presence.
Goku, and Hulk looked from the four star ball to the others. "Where did you get more Grandpas?!" Goku asked Bulma in shock at seeing more than one ball. "They're called Dragonballs, squirt. I've been collecting them for a while now. Legends say that if someone gathers up all 7 Dragonballs, the eternal Dragon will come to grant their user a single wish." Bulma has a far away look in her eyes, and holds on to her face with her hands. "I can see it now." Bulma starts giggling with hearts for eyes, and a little drool leaking out of her mouth.
Hulk snaps his fingers loudly in front of Bulma's face breaking her out of her daydream. "Hulk want to know more of wish. It anything Hulk want?" Hulk was staring at Bulma with a serious face. "Sure, big guy. Anything you want. The last person who wished on the Dragonballs became President of the World." Bulma looked away from Hulk, and her brain was scheming as she had seen the look of interest in Hulk's eyes. "If I can get Goku, and Hulk as my personal bodyguards...then the Dragonballs are as good as mine!" Bulma grins widely over at Hulk, and Goku.
"It must get pretty lonely up here on this mountain all by yourselves. Why don't you both come with me? There's all kinds of adventure, and strong people out there in the world. Come on, Goku and Hulk...what do you say? You'd be a big help in getting the other Dragonballs." Goku was deep in thought, while Hulk already made his decision. "Hulk always wanted friend. Now Hulk has one. Hulk has another dream. Wish help it come true. Hulk will go with Peeing girl." "ITS BULMA!"
Goku walked over to Bulma with a smile. "Are you sure there will be strong people like Mister Hulk? My Grandpa taught me how to fight, and I'm pretty strong...but I want to get even stronger!" Goku had a look of determination that made both Bulma, and Hulk smile. "Trust me, kid. With the power the Dragonballs have, it'll attract the strongest guys you can think of." Goku grinned, and shook Bulma's hand. "Okay, I'm ready to go!" Bulma reached out for the four star ball, but Goku moved it out of her reach. "Grandpa stays with me!" Goku said, leaving no room for argument. Bulma lifted her arms slightly in the air. "Sure thing, Goku. Grandpa stays with you, got it." Goku smiled, and started packing some things before stopping. Hulk, and Bulma stared at Goku's back and moved closer in worry when they saw him shaking.
"AAAAAAHHHH! I FORGOT ALL ABOUT OUR FISH!" Goku yelled at the top of his lungs, getting both Hulk, and Bulma to fall backwards with their feet high in the air. Goku made a mad dash out the door. "FISH, FISH! PLEASE BE OKAY, MY YUMMY FISH!"
