The Mad Detective and The Broken Solider

Chapter 2: The Funeral.

'Well, today's the day...' John thought to himself as he walked through the flat in dark jeans, a black button up shirt and a dark blue jumper. He was dreading going. It felt all too real to him. He had locked himself inside the flat since the accident happened. He walked out the door and sighed. When he finally got a cab, it left and he stared out the window the entire time, until they had gotten there. He got out and paid the cabbie then walked to the funeral. There were a decent amount of people there. He saw Lestrade, , Molly, Mycroft, some of the police department, and for some reason, Sally and Anderson. He walked by, not being seen and sat down and the pastor talked. "Today were hear to mourn the loss of a man named Sherlock Holmes." The pastor said, and going on and on. There was a closed casket funeral. 'Probably so no one would see how terrible his head looked.' John thought. When Sherlock's body was buried, some people started making small conversations and others left straight away. John just wanted to leave, hoping this was all just a terrible nightmare. Then Lestrade came up and tried to make conversation, but it was mostly pity and an awkward silence, until Lestrade said he would call him to check up on him, then leaving with everyone else. John soon was there alone. Just him and the deadly silence that hung in the air. John stood in front of Sherlock's grave, tears stinging his eyes. "I'm sorry, Sherlock. Please let this be a trick and you not actually be dead. Please do this one miracle for me... Don't. Be. Dead." John pleaded. He then turned around and left. Little did he know someone was watching in the bushes. John got in the cab and as it speed away he could feel part of himself being left behind and dying with Sherlock.

'Why? Why does it have to be this way?!' John though as he walked through the flat doors and to his bedroom. He took of his shoes and changed into his pajamas and laid down on the bed, covering up and drifting off into a deep, dreamless sleep.
