Spoilers for Sokka's Master

Don't ask, just don't. Major Tokka.

Disclaimer: If I owned Avatar, Zuko wouldn't be such an idiot.

He hands her the small ball of "space earth", and she carefully runs her fingers over it. It's lumpy and hard; like any other regular rock, and it doesn't feel any different. Still, she's happy to take it and quickly shifts it into a variety of shapes—a spiral, a star, an odd blob.

Katara says something about rocks from space not being real earth, but she only half-hears it. She's too busy manipulating the rock into a myriad of figures. After a miniature Badgermole, expertly carved by her Earthbending skills, she stops on one. Heart pounding, her nimble fingers run over the earth.

It's a heart.

For a moment, she blocks out everything, feeling the warm rock in her palms, before someone's voice calls her out of her trance and she realizes where she is. Fittingly enough, it's Sokka's.

"You okay, Toph?" he asks.

She hides the heart behind her back. "Um—yeah," she stammers. "I was just lost for a minute." She catches up, not sensing his worried glance. Nevertheless, the gang continues on, Aang and Katara discussing something.

Slowly, she brings her hands back from behind her and, with a final feel of the stone, she pockets it. Smiling, Toph continues on, as her heartbeat gradually returns to normal—though she can't help notice that when she moves closer to Sokka, his heart skips a beat, in unison with hers.
