'Where…am I

'Where…am I?'

She couldn't remember how she got there, or why she was there, but there she was, in the middle of the beach, lying in the sand, the waves licking the surface.

'This…this is not the same! Was…everything before…' "Get away from here!!" "You destroyed everything!!" "Never come back!!"

'…Just a dream…?'

This world was fuzzy. And bright. She rubbed her eyes with her hands and lifted herself off the sand. She gasped suddenly. She looked at her hands.

'I have HANDS?!' She scanned the rest of her body.

'I'm…human?!'

"Hey! Little girl! What are you doing out here?"

She turned to see a man with a lovely dark tan and sunglasses on rush over to her.

"Where are your parents?"

This was the first time she ever spoke to a human. Hopefully she knew their language.

"I…don't have any…" she said softly, praying that he could understand her. The lifeguard took a step back and scanned the situation. Ok, there's a little girl lying here out on the beach who has no parents. What do you do with her? The lifeguard would have taken her in, but he already had a family to take care of. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head.

"Alright, c'mere." He said, stretching his arms out to her. She was still really didn't know who this man was, so she just looked at him timidly.

"C'mon. Don't be shy. I won't hurt you." He said gently, like as if he was trying to comfort an animal. The little girl walked over to him and stumbled into his outstretched arms. She was not yet used to having only two legs.

"Easy now." He cautioned. The lifeguard swept the little girl off her feet and held her bridal style as they made their way off the now smoldering sand.

"Listen, I'm gonna take you to a place where they'll take good care of you until you can manage on your own. Ok? There are nice people there and will comfort you in any way you need." The lifeguard explained to the little girl. She only nodded at the times she thought were necessary. They walked along the streets, the lifeguard glancing at the names of each store. The little girl looked up at each store's name in amazement.

Uncle Freddie's Ice Cream Shop was one of the places she was most taken by. She gazed into the shop. There were boys and girls in there enjoying what seemed to be this 'Ice Cream' everyone seemed to fond of. The place was riddled with freezers and the inside was covered with pictures of different icy treats.

'I hope I can go there someday…'

"Ok, here we are!" The lifeguard said suddenly, stopping at a green building. The little girl looked up at the sign:

'Ms. Robinson's Orphanage' the sign read. The little girl wondered what on earth an 'orphanage' was as the lifeguard opened the door. The little girl was confronted by little girls and boys, much like the ones she saw at the Ice Cream Shop running all over the place, laughing, screaming, yelling and playing.

"Hey, Larry. What do we have here?" A voice suddenly asked. A woman was standing there in front of them. She was long black hair and clear blue eyes. She looked at the little girl with comfort.

"Morning, Ms. Robinson! I found this little girl out on the beach all by herself. She claims she has no parents, so I decided to see if we could check her in here. Is that alright with you?"

"Oh, of course! I love having a new adorable face around!" Ms. Robinson leaned her head toward the little girl, making her scrunch into Larry's arms more and more.

"Oh, shy one, are we? That's no problem. We'll make sure you feel welcome at our orphanage! What is your name, dear?" The little girl of course knew her name. But it didn't sound like what everyone else's did.

"Ka-kamoku Enzeru…" Kamoku said softly. Ms. Robinson looked confused after hearing her name.

"That's Japanese." She said after a second. "But you look American to me." Larry looked just as stumped.

"Well, maybe one of her parents was Japanese." Larry concluded.

"That must be the case." Ms. Robinson said finally.

Since that day, young Kamoku lived in the orphanage. She liked it there. It was warm in the winter and cool in the summer. She didn't make any friends at all, though. She usually just kept to herself, watching the others play while she listened to the radio. But whenever any of the children got hurt or into a fight, Kamoku would come rushing over, protecting the hurt or heckled and trying to solve the peace. No one could be friends with her anyway, she never really wanted to talk or be with anyone except Larry or Uncle Freddie, who she got to liking the very first time she stepped into the store with Larry. She would stay there for about half an hour each day, keeping him company and telling him about all the things going on in the orphanage.

She would also hang out on the beach. She would go swimming everytime she could, staying in the water until there was no one there but Larry. Larry always kept a look out for Kamoku, but he never really had to; she was a magnificent swimmer. And she never wanted to go out of the water either; Larry always had to go in the water himself and pull her out and carry her back.
Kamoku did go to school, and immediatly became the Loner. She would always keep to herself, which concerned her teachers terribly. They would always stop by the Orphanage and talk to Ms. Robinson about her quietness. And Ms. Robinson would always say:
"It's just who she is. A Shy Angel."
It wasn't that Kamoku didn't like the other kids, she just didn't know what to say around them. She was afraid to say something stupid or mean or something that would offend anyone.
Kamoku loved being out with animals. she would sometimes go out to the forest near the outskirts of town and just watch the animals roam around. She would watch the way they acted and reacted when certain tings were done to them, making her an animal expert. She knew more about animals then anyone in town.
She also had a thing for music. Ms. Robinson always watched her listening to the radio everytime she could and sometimes heard her singing along to the some songs. So one Christmas, Ms. Robinson gave her an iPod Nano. It was blue and had Ice Cream stickers on it. Kamoku immediatly fell in love with it and started adding songs to it everytime she could. ever since then, the only thing you could see her with normally, was her iPod.
Kamoku always knew that she wasn't human. She knew that. But she definitely knew she didn't want to go back to what she was before. A Monster. she used to be loved and treasured by a merchant in Egypt who would let her fight against others in games. But when she went too far in a game against a rival, she nearly destroyed everything. So she was locked away and she could never come back. at sometimes she would question why she was human and such, but she would never, EVER tell anyone about her real life. EVER.
When Kamoku got older, ready to go to high school, everyone knew she had a knack for Japan. It was one of the only things she could talk about. The clothes, the arts, the people, she was so facinated by them. One day, when she was about 15 years old, Kamoku was called to Ms. Robinson's office:
"Kamoku!" the intercom announced. "Please come to my office!" Kamoku looked up at the intercom and immediately got worried.
"OOOOHHHHH!! Kamoku's in trouble!!" One of the kids teased.
"Oh, shut it, Kanaru." she muttered as she went out the door of the playroom. She walked along the hall and went to the third door on the left. The stopped in front of it and knocked on the door twice.
"Come in." A rather elderly voice rang from the door. Kamoku opened the door to see Ms. Robinson sitting in her office chair behind her desk.
"Oh, Kamoku! Your're here! Please sit down, dear." Ms. Robinson said, gesturing the seat in front of the desk. Kamoku nodded and walked over to the seat. She was about to sit down when noticed that Ms. Robinson's old little sheepdog, yorkie mix was lying on the chair. Kamoku always loved that dog. He would always act like a puppy, even though he was pretty old. Kamoku scooped him up and sat down in the chair, resting the little dog on her lap. The dog immediately rested on her lap, satisfied with his new bed.
"Oh, Cheecho is such a sillyhead." Ms. Robinson said as she looked at the two. Kamoku smiled and stroked Cheecho's head.
"Kamoku, I have something rather important to tell you." Ms. Robinson said. Kamoku looked up at her.
"Did...I do something wrong?" she asked.
"Oh, of course not, dearie!" Ms. Robinson said. "There's just something I wasnt to talk to you about."
"what is it?" Kamoku asked.
"Well, Kamoku, I believe everyone in this town knows that you've always wanted to go to Japan for sometime now. And I've decided that you're old enough to be out on your own." That was true, Kamoku was always on her own, even when she wasn't supposed to. She was always left alone on the orphanage when the rest of the group went out to do something for days on end. So Kamoku would have to take care of things at the Oraohanage, which she didn't mind at all. She treasured being alone.
"What are you saying?" Kamoku asked, now starting to get excited and worried.
"i have bought a place in Domino City in Japan and I have decided for you to live there!" Ms. Robinson's exclaimed. Kamoku's eyes widened.
"Are you kidding me!?" She cried. "I'm gonna live in Japan?!" Ms. Robinson nodded.
"And I have decided for you to take Cheecho with you. He needs a new place to roam around for a change. and the Orphanage will support you in anyway you need. You will have to be ready in about 7 days." Kamoku jumped to her feet, grabbing Cheecho in the process and hugged Ms. Robinson tight.
"OH THANK YOU, MS. ROBINSON!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!"
And so began Kamoku's packing and saying good bye to everyone and everything. She immiediately started packing right when she got back from Ms. Robinson's office. Everryday, whenever one of the kids had a baseball game or a recital to do (it was that time of the year where EVERYONE was busy doing something.), Kamoku would come along with them, cheering on the team or clapping her hands off at numerous recitals. She knew that hardest part about leaving was saying goodbye to the beach, Larry, Uncle Freddie and the Ice Cream Shop and the forest. But she was determined to keep herself together at all times.
The first person she said goodbye to was Larry:
"So...when are you leaving?" Larry asked, after hearing the news.
"in about...2 days." Kamoku answered.
"I see...You know, the beach isn't gonna be the same without you." Larry said.
"Don't worry! I'll write to you and try to visit as many times as i can! I promise!" Kamoku said happily. Larry smiled at her joy.
"It just seems like yesterday when I found you out here on the beach." He sighed. "you were so little back then, and no u've grown up into a beautiful woman." Kamoku looked down, feeling a blush creep up to her face. She really wasn't used to people complimenting her on her looks. She actually though she was pretty ugly.
"Well, I'm gonna miss ya, kid." Larry suddenly pulled Kamoku into a vicegrip hug, almost suffocating her. "Take care."Kamoku hesitated before hugging Larry's giant torso.
"you too..."
The next person she had to say goodbye to was Uncle Freddie:
"Oh, Kamoku. I know you've always wanted to go to Japan. It's so beautiful there. And I actually know someone who livesin Domino City." Uncle Freddie said. Kamoku sat up, long with the other kids who decided to tag along in amazement.
"Really?" Kamoku asked.
"Yup! his name's Solomon Motto. He owns the Kame Game Shop In Domino City. He also has a son named Yugi Motto, who's actually going into high school like you."
"Wow...neat!"
"Yeah...I bet you'll meet him in time. Yugi's a short fellow, but he's definitely brave. I'm sure you'll notice him, too. He has the most unique hair i've ever seen on a kid."
"I bet i'll know him when I see him." Kamoku said, but she knew she could never acutally talk to him, let alone anyone else there.
"you better write and visit!" Uncle Freddie warned. "Or i'll close down the shop for good!"
"NO!! UNCLE FREDDIE DON'T CLOSE THE SHOP!!" The little kids cried, making Kamoku laugh.
"Don't worry, guys! i'll write and visit as many times as I can!"
Finally, the day arrived. The day where Kamoku Enzeru and Cheecho Robinson were to go out on their own and go off to the place they dreamed of: Japan. Kamoku stood there, holding onto two suitcases of luggage and a crate with Cheecho inside. the rest of the orphanage was behind her, along with Uncle Freddie and Larry. Kamoku turned at them when the bus arrived to take her to the airpoert. One little child, part of the orphanage who was always fond of Kamoku, ran out to her and grasped her legs before she could move them.
"Please don't go, Kamoku! I'll miss you too much!" he cried, tears staining Kamoku's jeans. Kamoku kneeled down in front of him.
"Don't worry, Cheiko. i'll try to write to the Orphanage every week. And I'll try to come back around Christmas." Kamoku leaned closer to him. "I'll also try to get you a ninja videogame." Kamoku saw Cheiko's eyes light up as she hugged her tightly again.
"Goodbye, Kamoku." he muttered before letting her go and scurreing off to the other little kids, who were crying their little eyes off. Kamoku waved to the others in a last goodye and, when she saw them all return it, she stepped onto the bus.
The End!
