We (Jacob, Justin, Sarah and I) were walking home when it happens. Jacob collapses. NO!! I yell, and before even my mind registers what my feet are doing, I'm at his side checking his vital signs. "He's unconscious." Justin was calling 911, Sarah was calling our mom. "He isn't breathing!" Sarah turned toward me. "Aren't you CPR certified or something?" I nodded. I leaned down, doing the reps on his chest till 20, then giving him a breath of air. Good Lord, don't do this…After doing that around 4 times, he was breathing, and mom and the ambulance had arrived. I was weeping, taking in ragged breaths. Jacob was being placed on the stretcher, in the ambulance. I rode in the back. Just there. Please. Let him be okay…

"You awake?" I said, he was now in the hospital, blinking at me. "Yea. Thanks, doc."

The doctor smiled. "It wasn't me who saved you. It was this lady here was giving you CPR while your friend was dialing 911. Her friend was calling your mother." Jacob turned to me. "I should let you use my math notes more often." He paused. "Its good for my health."
