The light of the early dawn sun light peered inside the moss linch of the den, the blue birds chirped cheerfully together singing their beautiful song of happiness. 'Shut up!' a tiny golden kit growled her displeasure as she continued to listen to the birds chirp loudly. "Morningkit are you awake?" a voice muttered to the golden feline, it was her sister Rainkit again. "No.." Morningkit answered, she was being annoyed by the birds and by her sister today of all days. "Then how'd you answer my question?" Rainkit mewed lightly, the dark gray she-kit who's pelt was nearly black pressed her nose into Morningkit's head, the long-haired golden kit growled at Rainkit's touch and opened her silver eyes, "What do you want?" Morningkit spat angrily. Her sister jumped back from fright since her sister didn't seem like she was in a good mood. "I just wanted to know if you wanted to come out with Mosskit, Russetkit, Drainkit, and myself to play in the camp..." Rainkit lowered her head, "Wel-" Morningkit jumped to her paws and growled"No Rainkit! Playing is a waste of time!" Rainkit's ears lowered and she turned her back to Morningkit racing toward a dark gray tabby tom with amber eyes, he pressed his nose to her head and lead her out of the den with a ginger she-kit and a white-and-pale gray tom following him.
A silver she-cat padded next to Morningkit pressing her nose on the kits head, "Morningkit it'll be a long time before you're an apprentice, and even longer before you're a warrior. Make friends with the older kits and play because play time will be gone when you're older." The she-cat had a good point but that couldn't be compleatly correct, warriors and apprentices still played like kits when everything in the clan was taken care of which wasn't much, just hunting, border patrols, and apprentice training. Morningkit's mother Moonfeather said CrystalClan didn't get in many battles with the other clans so that was another good thing about being born into the largest clan the forest has ever seen. "Moonfeather. . ." Morningkit protested, but the silver queen only shook her head "Morningkit go play. Look Russetkit is by herself. She needs a friend to play with," Moonfeather lowered her head to whisper into the kit's ear "just like you do." Morningkit looked outside the den and stared at the dark ginger kit, 'ugh fine!' Morningkit grummbled and padded outside the den leaving her mother behind. The golden kit stopped and looked around, she was praticing her battle moves even though she didn't know any at this time. "Russetkit!" she called, the dark ginger she-kit looked at Morningkit with wide eyes and padded over to her, "hey Morningkit I thought you didn't want to play.." the felines voice trailed off as she sat next to her new friend.
"I changed my mind, thats all Russetkit," Morningkit mummured, she still didn't like the idea of being outside in the clearing where a hawk could swoop down and take her away using her as prey. "What do you want to play Russetkit?" she mewed lightly trying not to sound too mean to the older feline. The dark ginger kit looked at her younger feline friend, she looked up at the clouds and then to Morningkit once more "How about I just show you around camp." Morningkit's ears pricked and her whole body lit up with joy "sure" she answered lightly. The older kit stood to her paws and lead the golden kit toward a large den with a moss entrance and the smell of plants coming from it. 'Whats this den?' she thought to herself, Morningkit was very curious about the scent coming from the den. Russetkit spun around to face her, "Wait here." She ordered before bounding inside the den only to reapear with two cats following her. "The dapple tom is our medicine cat, Ferntail." Russetkit mewed, Morningkit dipped her head to respect the elderly looking tom and looked at the younger looking sandy brown she-cat standing next to him "This is his apprentice Leafwhisker. She's training to be medicine cat when Ferntail retires." Russetkit seemed to know alot about the CrystalClan medicine cats even though she was only five moons old. "Hi Morningkit" Leafwhisker mewed lightly as she stared at Morningkit. 'How'd she know my name?' Morningkit thought.
"H-hi. . ." Morningkit mummbled, she noticed the sandy apprentice purr her amusement "If your wondering how I already know your name is because I was there with Ferntail when you were born." Leafwhisker sat straight up, she was very proud of herself about being a medicine cat apprentice, but the thing was sadly Leafwhisker couldn't have kits of her own because medicine cats couldn't have kits it was against the warrior code. "Ferntail!" a voice called from across the clearing, it was a white-and-gray tom padded over to the group of cats, he looked over to Morningkit and smiled lightly, "Barkfoot's complaining about back pain again, can Leafwhisker bring him some poppyseeds?" the tom muttered as friendly as he possibally could to the old medicine cat. "Sure she can, Swiftfall." Ferntail turned to his apprentice "Get poppyseeds, and take Russetkit, and Morningkit they may want to hear the elders stories." The sandy brown feline nodded and padded into the den to get the herbs that were asked for, "How are you my beautiful daughter?" Swiftfall mewed to Morningkit, she didn't relize this handsome tom was her mother's mate, it was good to know who her father was before Rainkit knew. "Im good, have you met Rainkit yet though?" she questioned her father, the tom shook his head a firm no, "I was on my way to meet you both, but Mummblesong asked me to deliver the message to Ferntail, and Leafwhisker." Swiftfall licked his daughters head "Go with Leafwhisker now, meet the elders." He ordered before bounding off to see Moonfeather who was sitting outside the nusery with Stoneleaf. 'My mother is Moonfeather, and my father is Swiftfall. . .'
