A/N (AKA SKIP TO THE WORDS "Moon's Serenade Chapter 2" IF YOU DON'T WANNA HEAR ME RAMBLE):
Thanks to everyone who read my stuff. It's great to know that you guys actually like it lol (looking at you, AriTheDoggo, thanks for following). I'll try to respond to any comments I get on anything I write, so here I go:
Oracle of Hylia: Perhaps? We'll see... heheheh...
James Birdsong: I'm not sure what you're responding to, but if you're talking about my story, thanks I guess? Not sure what "of course" would mean but any feedback is good feedback...! I think...
Anyways, on to the story, I guess.
Moon's Serenade Chapter 2
Link wasn't the brightest kid in class. Not only did he have problems with the material itself, but Link also had a hard time staying awake in class in general. He also had a bad habit of leaving work unfinished a lot... as well as troubles starting work in general. Simply put, academics itself was not Link's strong suit. It was mainly because Link's mind was often elsewhere. When the teacher would begin to speak of finding slopes in a graph, Link's mind would explore a vast valley and climb mountains with steep slopes; he was still finding slopes, just not the mathematical variety and not in reality. Link also often found history lessons to be a bore until he fell asleep and he was reliving the Holy War against the Gerudos, who were now living in peace with the other races. The teacher never really found this very entertaining, but Link certainly did.
Of course, although Link had an already difficult time focusing in class, he was having an even harder time now. It's always difficult to focus when you have a voice in your head constantly telling you what to do. The anxiety of having a sword in your locker was minimal compared to this.
"Master Link," the garbled, robotic tone echoed in his head. "It is of vital importance that you contact Mistress Zelda as soon as possible."
Zelda. Teen royalty. Gorgeous, a talented young woman with unspeakable beauty and intelligence. As if that wasn't enough, she was also an incredible musician, being the harp player for the orchestra and the band as well as a talented pianist. But of course, that wasn't all. She was also from a rich family. It was said that was descended from Hylian royalty, back from before the Hylian Empire had fallen millennia ago. She also happened to be someone from Link's past. A girl he had met as a young boy, when he stumbled into the wrong backyard...
Link shook his head. There was no way he could just get up and talk to her out of nowhere; especially when it was a sword talking to him that got him to finally do it. What was he even going to say? "Hey, Zelda, remember me? The awkward kid who stumbled into your backyard by accident? I sorta need to talk to you about a sword I picked up at a temple and how it's always talking to me about how I need to talk to you because you'll give me some important information to save the world."
As if. She'd think he was a freak. She probably didn't even remember who he was. She hadn't even spoken to him throughout all of last year, much less talked to him about their childhood. If he were to suddenly just bring it up to her, he doubted she'd remember. He'd probably be sent to some institution for being delusional. Link tuned out the voice of the sword spirit in his head, deciding to try and focus on his academics instead for once in his life.
Eventually, of course, the bell rang and Link was freed from the hell of a dive into geometrical theorems and whatnot. He was far more interested in the ramblings of a voice in his head compared to mathematical gibberish, to be fair to the annoying voice in his head.
"Hey, Link."
The sudden voice from behind surprised him. Nobody talked to him. Nobody. Especially considering the person who was talking, he couldn't be any more surprised.
"Hey, you looked sorta dazed staring at the whiteboard, did you have some troubles with the lesson?"
Link took a second to swallow and digest that sentence as well as the fact that it came from the person that an annoying voice in his head had been pushing for him to talk to. Zelda Harkinian, the queen of the school.
Link slowly nodded his head, trying as hard as possible to keep his calm.
"If you have any questions, you can always ask me, okay?"
Link nodded slowly before giving her a quizzical expression. His lack of communication often made conversations close to impossible, but Zelda somehow managed to pick up his thoughts from his face.
"Oh, right, um, well, if you wait in the library across the school I can come by after orchestra and we can go over some stuff if you have any questions?" Zelda suggested, an unsure smile on her face.
Link nodded, smiling.
"Alright, it's a deal then!"
Zelda hurried off, having packed her bags. Link still found it hard to believe that he had been approached by the best girl in his school, offered to be taught math one-on-one privately in the library, and did nothing for it. Take that, you annoying sword!
In a slight daze, Link slipped off to his next class, daydreaming slightly. He wondered if Zelda might remember the days they shared as children. He figured he might as well ask later when they meet up in the library.
He was looking forward to it. He didn't have much he looked forward to.
Link then remembered that his next period was physical education.
His morale took a severe blow as he realized he would need to deal with Mr. Ganondorf again.
