The next morning Steve got up and ready for his meeting. He met Natasha at 0800 in front of his building. "Morning Nat." "Morning old man." Natasha drove off heading for SHIED Headquarters. "So what does Fury what me to do at SHIELD,besides be partnered with you?" "Work with the Strike teams." "You don't look to happy with that." "They are bullies." Steve considered what she said and would have to see what they were like. Not that he didn't believe Natasha. If they were they would get one hell of a wake up call. "I hate bullies." Natasha just smiled at this.
They arrived and took the elevator to Fury's office. "Welcome Captain. Glad you could come in. I assume Romanoff filled you in on what I want." "She told me you want to partner us up and that you also want us to work with the Strike teams." "I do. I thank the two of you would work the best. You both worked well during the Chitauri attack. As for the Strike teams. I want you to wipe them in to shape." "They are bullies that can't be trusted." "That maybe but they are what we got and that's why I have you two watching each others back." "I'll work with Romanoff no problem. The Strike teams on the other hand. If they are as bad as Romanoff says I want them gone. We can get more people who can be trusted. Take it or leave it. I also want Barton when he returns." Fury needed Rodgers so he had no choice. "OK Captain. I will set you up as a level 8. When can you start?" "Give me a couple weeks. I got a few things to do. Also Romanoff is taking the next two weeks off also. I need her help with some things." "Fine. Two weeks from this coming Monday I want the two of you back here ready to go."
With that Steve and Natasha left. Natasha took Steve back to is apartment building. Steve told her to park in the garage and they headed up to his apartment. "You want to explain why you told Fury to give me two weeks off." "Because you need to move remember. Like I said, I got two extra apartments on this floor. The floor is private, though you are going to help me fix the security on the floor since you bypassed it." "OK, but what else." "I want to talk with Clint about him on the team when he gets back. I trust him also and we need some one to watch our back while we do what ever it is Fury has us do. If you don't trust the Strike teams then I don't." "You really do trust me that much." "Yes, unless you don't think I should." "I wont betray you Rodgers but you don't no my past." "Nat I trust you to tell me what you think I need to know or you want to want to tell me." "OK Rodgers, I'm in. Clint will need a place to stay since he usually takes my spare room when he is in town." "I got another apartment. He can have that. Also you two are not paying rent. The rent I get from the other tenants covers building expensive." "Fine. Your helping me move." "Lets go check out your new home."
They both headed to the two spare apartments. Natasha picked the one next to Steve's. Leaving Clint the last one. Steve also showed her the last apartment. "It has a kitchen that is not stocked at the moment. One room is a training room, one is my art studio and the last is empty. If you want me to put something in I can. The living room area is set up to watch movies." "Nice Rodgers." Steve gave her the codes to get on the floor and in to the rec apartment. He showed her how to set the pass key for her apartment also. Once they were done Steve went back to his apartment while Natasha called Clint.
"Barton." "Clint its Natasha." "Tasha how's it going. When you coming out to the farm. Laura and the kids want to see you." "Not sure. I'm moving at the moment but that not all I'm calling about. Rodgers wants you working with us at SHIELD when you come back to work. He wants to talk with you to see if your interested or not. Also he has an apartment you can move into if you want. I'm taking one but he is giving you the last one." "Tasha you might want to back up and start from the beginning." So Natasha told Clint everything that has been going on since he went back home. Told him about Fury sending her out to find Rodgers, the apartment building and the job at SHIELD. "So the Captain told Fury he would only join on his own terms. I bet Fury didn't like that." "No not really but I don't thank Rodgers trust Fury completely. He sure doesn't trust the Strike teams." "How long will it take you to move?" "Couple day. Told Rodgers he had to help." "After you get set up in your apartment bring Steve out to the farm. I owe him after trusting me so easily after what happen to me when he didn't have to." "OK Clint we will see you and the family in a few days."
Steve and Natasha spent the next two days moving her and getting her new apartment set up. Natasha also ordered everything Clint would need for his apartment for when he got here to use it. Steve went half on the cost. It was a surprise for him. At night Natasha and Steve would eat dinner together and help Steve watch some of the movies he missed. Natasha had found his list of things to do and added a bunch of things and promised to help him out. They were starting to develop a friendship that would last their entire lives.
The next couple days they went over the floor security and designs for the dance studio for Natasha. Steve had called Pepper to let her know and asked if she would over see the changes since he was going to be out of town. He also told her that both Romanoff and Barton were taking the other two apartments. Pepper had no problem and reminded him that Tony was setting aside some rooms for all of them in the tower. After they hung up Steve packed for his trip to see Clint.
Steve and Natasha are getting closer. Will they be more then friends and if they are how long will it take. Will Natasha tell Steve about her past and how will he take it. Next chapter the farm.
