Severus followed Minerva around the staff room with his eyes. He longed to touch her, feel her...but no. It was too dangerous for them. Still, she captivated him, like she had for years.
When they were finally alone, Severus corners her.
"We need to talk." he said.
"It was nothing but a kiss between friends, Severus. We were simply observing a time-honored tradition." she said immediately.
"You don't believe that and you know it." Severus said. Minerva bit her lip.
"I miss you, Minerva." he said pleadingly. Minerva's eyes turned suddenly misty.
" I miss you too. So much. But..."
"But what?" Severus said gently.
"It's dangerous. Vol-"
"I don't care anymore! Can't you see, Minerva? I love you!" Minerva blinked back tears.
"I love you too, Severus, never doubt that. I just don't want-no I can't lose you." she said in a small voice.
"You won't"
"You can't promise that." It was true, he couldn't. Everyday was a blessing for him.
"Please, Tabby?" a single tear rolled down her cheek at the sound of her pet name. She thought long and hard.
"Fine. How is tonight at 7:00?" she said.
"Perfect."
Minerva nodded an practically ran from the room.
