It was a normal day at Hollywood Arts, it was also the day before the Opposite Dance, where guys asked girls they never expected to ask. Right now, Robbie was thinking by the lockers.

"Yes." Rex said.

"No."

"Yes!"

"No! I can't go through with it!"

"Come on, Rob, be a man...for once."

"There's no way Tori Vega would go to a dance with me." Robbie said, shaking his head.

"And how do you know if you hadn't asked her yet, genius?"

"Well, Tori's so pretty and well I'm..."

"A nerd?"

"That's one way of putting it. Maybe I was better off just asking Cat."

"Uh-uh-uh, you know the rules of the dance. Guys ask girls they never thought to ask and you know Cat is going with Beck anyway."

"Yeah, but..."

"Ooh, here she comes. Sell it, Robbie. Sell it good."

Robbie saw Tori going over to the lockers to take some books out of her locker. Robbie looked at Rex and he nodded. Robbie approached Tori.

"Hey Tori." Robbie greeted.

"Oh, hey Robbie." Tori greeted back.

"So...the Opposite Dance is tomorrow."

"Yeah, and I think it's a waste of time."

"Wait, you do?"

"Well, duh, who'd want to go to a dance like that anyway? So skipping it. How 'bout you?"

"Uh, yeah, total waste of time."

Rex cleared his throat.

"I mean, what I originally was gonna say Tori, is that, if nobody's asked you yet, how about going to the Opposite Dance with me?"

"Oh. Well that's kind of unexpected but sure yeah I'd love to go with you."

"You would?"

"Uh-huh. You can pick me up at around 6."

"Sure, okay."

"Guess I'd better go look for something to wear and go to class." Tori said, grabbing her books.

"Yeah."

"See ya later."

"Yeah, see ya."

Tori walked away while Robbie smiled looking at her.

"See, now was that so hard?" Rex asked.

Robbie thumped Rex on the forehead.

"Didn't deserve that just for being right."

Robbie gave him a look and headed off to class. The next day was the day of the dance, Robbie drove up to the Vega household on his bike looking quite handsome in a suit. He knocked on the door and Trina answered it.

"Hey...Bobbie, right?" Trina guessed.

"Robbie, Trina. Good to see you remember me too."

"Know the name of all Tori's friends, it's a living." Trina replied, laying back on the couch.

"Is Tori ready yet?"

"Yo, Tori, your geek date is here! You ready yet?" Trina called out.

"In a minute."

Robbie sat down with Trina and waited for Tori. Trina lifted up her foot and started clipping her toenails.

"So, what's the deal of this Opposite Dance anyway? Can't guys just ask their girlfriends or best gal pals instead of just some random girl? You and that Cat kid would go nicely together." Trina said, clipping off the first toenail.

Before Robbie could respond, Tori came down the steps. She was wearing a pink and purple dress with black gloves, her hair was curled and she wore a faint pink lipstick to match the pink of the dress.

"Do you think this dress is I don't know a little too sexy?" Tori asked the two.

Trina took a sip of her soda.

"The sexier, the better. You get your taste from me, baby sister, no question." Trina said then belched.

"Uh...Right...So, let's get going Robbie." Tori said, opening the door.

"Wait, I've got something for you."

Robbie took out a rectangle velvet box and opened it up. Inside, was a diamond necklace.

"How about going to the dance in style?" Robbie asked.

"A diamond necklace? Robbie, I-I love it! Did you really buy this?"

"Nah, it's my mom's. But thought you could use something pretty to already match your looks."

Tori looked down, hiding her blush.

"Will you put it on me?" Tori asked.

"Sure."

Tori turned around and Robbie fastened the necklace on her neck.

"Whoa. Didn't know I had good taste in jewelry that much."

"Hey, we better get going."

The two walked outside and Tori saw Robbie's bike.

"I know it's not exactly a carriage with horses and stuff like that."

"No, Robbie, it's cool. I bet nobody else is riding this way."

"Well, in that case, your chariot madam."

"Thank you, kind sir." Tori giggled. "Where do I sit anyway?"

"Right here."

Tori slipped on the edge of the seat.

"Right here?"

"Yep. Hold on to the handlebars, okay? You ready?"

"Definitely read..."

Robbie took off pedaling while Tori yelped in surprise but then laughed as she held onto Robbie's arm. At the school, the dance was already in full swing. People were dancing, chatting, laughing and eating and drinking. Beck and Cat were talking with Andre and Jade when Robbie and Tori showed up.

"Whoa, now I've seen everything." Jade said.

Cat turned and saw Robbie and Tori enter the dance hall with a surprised look on her face. Robbie didn't plan on taking anyone to the dance last time she checked.

"Hey guys." Robbie greeted.

"Uh, hey Tori, Robbie. Little surprised to see you two going together." Beck said.

"Oh, we're going together but we're not going together "together"." Tori assured.

"Tell that to the girl who just came in here holding onto puppet boy's arm." Jade said, mocking Tori.

"I don't talk like that." Tori said, looking annoyed.

"Okay, folks, now it's time for couple dance. Here'a song I'm sure you all can jam too."

The song "So Close" began playing. Most of the couples were sitting it out so Robbie offered his hand.

"Wanna dance just to kill time?" Robbie asked.

"Better than nothing." Tori joked.

Tori took Robbie's hand and he led her out to the dance floor.

"Let's dance Beck." Cat said, dragging Beck out on the dance floor.

Robbie placed his hands on Tori's waist while her hands came to rest on his shoulders as they began to dance to the music.

You're in my arms

And all the world is calm

The music playing on for only two

So close together

And when I'm with you

So close to feeling alive

A life goes by

Romantic dreams must die

So I bid my goodbye

And never knew

So close was waiting

Waiting here with you

And now, forever I know

All that I wanted

To hold you so close

So close to reaching that famous happy end

Almost believing

This one's not pretend

And now you're beside me

And look how far we've come

So far we are, so close

Tori found herself resting against Robbie as they continued to dance. Their faces were soon close together and they looked ready to kiss.

"I'm sorry, Robbie, this was a bad idea." Tori said, leaving the dance hall.

Oh how could I face the faceless days

If I should lose you now

Robbie looked down and saw Tori left her shoe behind and picked it up.

"You just had to pick her." Beck said, patting Robbie's shoulder.

"Yes, I did." Robbie said, smiling.

Tori ran all the way home and closed the door. She threw off her gloves and was about to throw the necklace but then gently set it aside. Tori knew one thing about tonight, she was falling for Robbie Shapiro hard. But she didn't want to come between him and Cat, if there was a thing between them still. What was she gonna do?
