The aged building was a stark contrast against the modern buildings and cars along the street. It's aged marble front reminded Lily of Gringotts, with the exception of the bank looking to be relatively new in comparison. A set of stone steps lead up to a pair of glass automatic doors, the only modern featured it shared with its neighbouring buildings. The building was located some distance from the centre of Paris and was of great distance from any magical communities (shops, houses). The depth to which the building was located in muggle Paris had eased their concerns slightly.

They wouldn't be taking any chances though, hence why James and Sirius checked the building upon their arrival in France and the day before the scheduled meeting. They had also erected some temporary wards around the building the day before. The wards worked to confound anyone who would do them harm and repel them away from them. It was created by herself through some ingenious charm work and had been adapted from the muggle repelling charm.

Pushing Harry's pram to a stop, Lily palmed her wand in one hand. Looking up at the building, she discreetly waved and muttered a variety of revealing spells, her actions covered by the pram. James proceeded to follow in her actions, while Sirius sniffed the air to locate any familiar scents of Death Eaters (his sniffer, as he affectionately called it, could remember the scent of Death Eaters he had come across and fought). Upon confirmation by both James and Sirius of a relatively mundane building (a squeeze around her waist from James and a wink for Sirius), Lily gently took Harry out of the pram to be held.

Lily carefully walked up the stairs, she turned around when she heard the muttered curse from Sirius, as he and James attempted to carry the pram up the steps. Upon reaching the top, James put an arm around her waist and Sirius pushed the pram as the entered the building.

The red haired secretary, Natalie, had greeted them upon entry and proceeded to lead them towards Phil's office. Her stilettos clicked across the stone flooring as she walked through the building, leading them towards a large ornately carved door. She smiled towards Lily, as she knocked once before opening and holding the door for them.

A quick glance around the room revealed more ornately carved wooden furniture, fireplace and wall panels, decorated in warm browns and dark greens. Her eyes landed on the man sitting behind the desk, who appeared to be a quite ordinary middle aged man with a hairline that appeared to be receding. Her brain supplied his name, Phil, as he stood up from behind the large desk and proceeded to walk around it to shake James' than Sirius' hands in greeting. Gesturing to the chairs in front of his desk, he walked back around the desk and picked up a leather briefcase.

"My name is Phil Coulson, as you already know, and I would like to firstly thank you for visiting here today". Phil spoke with a smile and a nod, proceeding to unlock the briefcase and pull out a thick yellow folder.

Looking straight at Lily he spoke again somewhat excitedly, "I have here your grandfather's files that I would like you to look through" and he quickly slid the folder across to her.

Giving Harry to Sirius, Lily leaned over the folder and opened the cover. A picture of her grandfather's face smiled up at her, dressed in his military uniform. It was attached to a yellowed document regarding his details. The photo was one she had seen before and had been placed in a spot of honour upon her grandmother's and parent's mantle piece. It brang back memories, in which her grandmother had lovingly picked up the photo and told light-hearted tales of her deceased grandfather. "Would have absolutely loved you girls" was her grandmother used to say throughout her childhood to her and her sister.

Flipping to through the next few pages of yellowed documents, she felt a smooth, glossy surface and flipped to that page. She gasped. Lily felt James' hand tighten on her own under the table and observed Sirius tightening his hold on her peacefully sleeping son out the corner of her eye. Lily looked up at Phil with her eyes showing an emotion of horror and confusion.

Her grandfather was looking up at her, a small smile on his face. The horror and confusion she felt was at the background he was standing in front of. James Buchanan Barnes was standing on a balcony in front of a clearly modern New York skyline. The colouring of the picture and the sheer amount of advertisements plastered across each high rise building faces gave it away.

They were all looking at Phil, similar expressions on their faces .

"He died in the war" she accused.

"I can explain" Phil stated, slowly raising his hands in a calming gesture.

Later

After talking for Lily and her family for over two hours and bidding them farewell, Phil had determined three things:

One, a second meeting would definitely be taking place.

Two, he would immediately arrange for the small family to be moved out of England. This supposed Dark Lord situation was definitely getting out of hand for the guy to start going after babies himself.

And three, Phil certainly preferred Lily and her family over her sister's.
