Chapter 2: The Awakening
Koga slowly woke up from his deep sleep, opening his blue eyes a bit. The sun seemed to beam only directly into his right eye as he woke up to his irritation. He groaned and groggily got up from his furs. He raked his raven hair, looking around his cave. "I don't want to get up today." Koga contemplated just laying in bed and just letting Ginta or Hakkaku look over the clan today. He knew better though, considering the entire wolf clan was under one roof from the destruction Naraku caused. It's been a month but the wolf tribe has been able to repopulate most of the fallen with relentless rutting and more guards on patrol around the area. He could already hear the wolf pups playing outside and the whole clan moving from the hilltop where he lived and slept. He laid back down on the furs, rubbing his hands against his softness. The furs were a gift from his very persistent and powerful suitor, Lord Sesshomaru. Everyone, including himself, was surprised when he started to receiving gifts with the Western Inu seal on them. He was even more shocked when he had invited him to his kingdom. Sure, Koga being a uke, he had many men and women who would pursue him and demand to be his mate. That all stopped; however, when they heard the Great Inu Lord was wanting me. Koga had not given him a definite answer and said he would think about his offer, but really he was not sure about being with Sesshomaru. Sure, he was the Lord of the Western lands and was the most powerful and well-known demon...but Koga knew nothing about him. All he knew was from his first encounter and how he interacted with Inuyasha. However, he couldn't deny he loved how he smelled, which is why he almost hated laying in these furs. They maybe the softest furs he had ever felt but after a week, Koga's scent started to dominate over Sesshomaru's. Koga groaned. "That bastard," Koga thought to himself, "probably did that one purpose so I would go see him."
He closed his eyes for a moment till he heard a knock on the cave door. "What is it, Ginta?" Koga kept his eyes closed, wanting to go back to sleep. "There is another gift for you from Sesshomaru," Koga's eyes opened, him getting up with his tail wagging. He immediately scolded his self for being excited about getting a gift from Sesshomaru. He got from the furs, showing off his naked body to put on the lower half of his armor. "Coming," He said trying to stay indifferent about the gift. He opened up his cave door, seeing a smiling Ginta on the other end. "Here you go, Koga," Ginta handed him his gift which was wrapped in a red velvet cloth. There was a letter attached to it with the Inu seal. Koga took it from him and looked at Ginta. "Is there anything else?" "Well, the elders wish to speak to you after you get dressed.." Koga growled, hearing about the meeting. The one thing he hated about the whole clan being here was the stupid elders who would not stop budding into his life, asking him personal questions that he shouldn't have to answer. Ginta looked at him, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Come on, Koga," he smiled at him, "it's not that bad. It can't be whenever I told them I wanted to mate with Hakkaku." Koga laughed a bit, remembering their faces since Ginta was arranged to marry from the Black wolf tribe. "I'm glad you didn't marry that black wolf woman though. She was scary." Ginta and Koga laughed as Ginta went back down to the main level. Koga went back into his cave, opening up the fabric to reveal new fur armor with white fur and black top. There was also a little strange bottle with a liquid inside. His eyebrow rose looking at the bottle. "What could this be?" He opened it up and sniffed it, only to be left frozen in place. It was Sesshomaru's scent. Somehow that bastard had sent him a bottle of just his scent. Koga was amazed, angry, and happy all at the same time. He put the new armor and bottle away and scolded himself as he got ready to meet the elders.
Inuyasha sighed as he sat up in a tree. Kagome have come to visit but like always she only came to speak to everyone else excluding him. Even since they had gotten back from Sesshomaru's place two weeks ago, she still refuses to speak to him or talk about what happened. It's like he didn't exist. All the affection, love, anger, and attention she used to give him all gone in a blink of an eye. She wouldn't even give him eye contact, let alone be in the same room as him. She was disgusted with him and it was plain to see from everyone. Sango and Miroku tried to talk to her about it, but she would just talk about how dirty Inuyasha was and that she never should have felt sorry for him. Despite Shippo being a uke too, she still gave him attention. She apparently thought that since Shippo was young, he would outgrow it and be "normal" in her eyes. Inuyasha decided to just avoid her as well, sitting on the tree as always about a few miles from the village. Shippo would sometimes come over to visit and talk. The only one who seemed angry at the situation was Lady Kaede. When they had come back and relayed the news to her, she seemed to have already sensed what Inuyasha was. Inuyasha was relieved, but Kagome was all out enraged, not understanding how Lady Kaede, a human herself, would accept this. Lady Kaede scolded the girl and banned her from her hut until she could learn to accept it and stop being a child. With that, Kagome would only visit for awhile, returning back home before it got dark. Inuyasha looked up at the sky, taking a deep breath. "I can't wait until she leaves," Inuyasha said to himself before his ears perked up, hearing familiar running footsteps. Suddenly Koga came crashing down, somehow landed perfectly onto the branch without breaking it. "Yo, muttface!" Koga said happily, smiling at Inuyasha. Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "What are you doing all the way out here?" Koga made a grim look, Inuyasha knowing the answer. "Elders…" Koga nodded and sit on the branch. Along with his brother's truce, Koga and Inuyasha decided to be friends. Surprisingly, the two became best friends instantly, like they were almost born together. "What did they do now?" Koga sighed, looking up at the sky. "Well your brother has been sending me...gifts," Koga looked over at Inuyasha expecting a shock or Inuyasha-like action but got nothing. "...you damn mutt you knew!" Koga yelled at him in realization. Inuyasha laughed at him with a huge smirk on his face. "Of course I knew, flea bag!" Inuyasha crossed him arms, "there is only one Inu seal walking around and besides I saw Sesshomaru one day deliver it to your tribe." Koga huffed and looked at his friend. "You could have at least warned me." "Oh, come on. Sesshomaru likes you and believe me, the only person I have ever seen him like this much is Rin." Koga flicked his tail, thinking. "He goes all the way to my tribe to deliver my gifts," Koga thought about that for a moment, realizing Sesshomaru must be serious if he takes his time in order to give him gifts. They were silent for a moment until Inuyasha spoke. "So are you going to be with him?" Koga looked at Inuyasha shocked. "You're okay with that?" Inuyasha gave him a weird look. "Well yeah. I mean Sesshomaru is his own person and besides I'd rather have you then some bitchy female." "Gee, Inuyasha. I love you too," Inuyasha laughed at Koga, punching him the shoulder. "Come on. I didn't mean it like that. Just...think about it, will ya?" "Yeah, yeah yeah," Koga jumped down to the ground looking up at him, "you don't have to lecture me, gramps. Anyway I have to get back before the elders complain anymore." He waved goodbye to Inuyasha and headed off. Inuyasha looked up at the sky, noticing a big storm about to brew. "I better find some shelter before I get caught in this rain."
Unknown to everyone, there was a strange village nearby. There were no inhabitants having been abandoned over centuries. The lightning seemed to be attracted to the village only striking in one underground cave. There was a seal on top of it that started to glow from the constant hits. Suddenly the seal seemed to break with a loud booming noise. A dark aura shoot out of the ground, mixing in with the lightning, causing everything to go black. With all this chaos, the dark matter seemed to speak only one word, "Kikyo."
