Putting on her black blazer, Lindsey pulled her hair into a ponytail and grabbed her folders before running downstairs. Rushing around before a day at 'work' always happened and Lindsey barely had anytime time to wake up.

"Linds, come on! You're going to be late!" Lindsey's mum, Helen, called out.

"I'm coming I'm coming!" Lindsey yelled in response, attempting to put on her shoes as she ran.

"You've gotta eat something before you go otherwise you'll be all weak." Helen added, buttering a slice two slices of toast for her.

"No time, I just need to go. I'll get a coffee when I'm there." She replied, sitting down and putting on her shoes quickly.

"Eat up, they won't mind you being late if it's for this reason." Helen said sternly, placing the place in front of Lindsey.

Lindsey groaned and took a bite of the toast, chucking the piece back on the plate. She stood up and swung her back over her shoulder.

"I've really got to go, I'm running late and it's rush hour. Bye Mum, bye Kim!" She exclaimed, kissing her Mum on the cheek and waving to Kim before quickly leaving the house, slamming the door behind her.

Helen sighed deeply, shaking her head and chuckling at her eldest daughters ways. She took a seat on the opposite side of the table and looked over at her youngest, Kim.

"When you get to her age, don't do what she does. Crazy." Helen mumbled, taking a sip of her tea.

Lindsey shoved on her scrubs and her white converse. She tightened up her pony tail and let out a sigh, shoving her normal clothes into her locker.

"Rushing around again?" Keeley said, walking into the locker room. Keeley was a long term friend of Lindsey's and also a fellow student.

"I overslept, don't judge!" Lindsey replied, chuckling lightly as she locked up her locker, shoving the key into her pocket.

"You better get out there, it's packed today. Just think, once you've done this practical, you're one step closer to getting to where you want to be." Keeley added, tapping Lindsey on the shoulder with a smile.

Lindsey nodded and smiled, pulling open the door to the locker room and heading out into the corridor to find whatever doctor it was that she was working with. Making her way over to the cubicle where the doctor was she was working with, she saw Joe who was being patched up for a pretty bad wound on his hand.

"Fancy seeing you here!" Lindsey exclaimed, smiling as she pulled the curtain around the cubicle.

"Do you two know each other?" The doctor asked, glancing at Lindsey then Joe.

"He's my boyfriend."

"She's my girlfriend." Joe said over Lindsey, the pair of them letting out a little chuckle.

"I'll leave you two to it. Mr Roscoe, you're all patched up and when you're done just come to the front desk and we'll give you your aftercare. Miss Butterfield, I'm heading on break and I expect to see you at the front desk in fifteen minutes." The doctor said sharply, pulling back the cubicle curtain and leaving, closing it behind her.

"I'll be there Dr. James." Lindsey flashed a smile before taking a seat on the edge of Joe's bed. "So, what happened to you then?"

"Car parts, cut, blood, that kinda thing." Joe joked in response, chuckling.

"You're alright though, yeah?" She asked, looking at him with concern.

"I'm fine babe, honestly. I mean, I can't drive but Fred's coming to get me so it's okay. I wish you were that doctor though."

"Well, next time you cut yourself so bad you've gotta come to this dingy place, you call me and I'll be there to patch you up." She giggled and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.

"You better go, you've got work to do. See you later though, come round ours if you like?" He said in reply, a smile on his face.

"Sure, I'd um. I'd love that. I'll text you later." She got up and opened the curtain, glancing back at him with a smile before pulling the curtain to.

Lindsey made her way out of the ward and down the corridor, bumping into a tall figure and dropping her clipboard. She groaned as both her and the male bent down to pick it up.

"Sorry." They both said in unison, Lindsey looking up to see that it was Freddie.

Freddie's eyes met Lindsey's, that feeling that his heart skipped a beat went rushing through this body. He smiled gently and handed her the clipboard.

"I wasn't looking where I was going, sorry about that." Lindsey said, well, stuttered as she tried to string a sentence together.

"No bother, I was too busy thinking about what trouble my brother got himself into." Freddie replied, letting out a little chuckle.

"He's in cubicle three, waiting for his lift home." She chuckled at the same time. "Sorry again, I'll see you around."

Freddie nodded and moved to the side, shoving his hands into his jeans pocket and making his way back down the corridor.

Lindsey carried on walking but stopped at the door, turning around to see Freddie walking away. Freddie glanced back at the same time and as they saw each other, they both hurried off their separate ways.

"He's so cute." Lindsey mumbled to herself, biting on the end of her pen to stop herself from saying any more as she walked down the corridors. She couldn't shake that feeling that there was something between them.
