11pm Wishes: Arnold's Roof

Disclaimer: I do not own Hey Arnold!

This was starting to become a bad habit. His grandparents had already caught him a few times up on the roof way past 'his bed time' but he couldn't get her off his mind; especially today. He hadn't really noticed before but when she didn't show up for class today he realized that when it was her birthday he never saw her. It was always the day after that she would reappear into the world of the living. It was bugging him, more than she ever could have.

Arnold signed and wrapped his blue jacket closer around him as a breeze blew past him. As much as he wanted to go to her house today and see if she was ok he had refrained from doing so. Not only at the protests of Gerald but mainly because of the strikingly detouring requests of Phoebe to not visit Helga today. She didn't say why but it just made Arnold all the more troubled. A hour before this he had tried to sleep, but after tossing in his bed and trying all the different positions he could think of to get comfortable he knew it would be no use. All he could hope for would be that his body tires out soon and takes him into a short sleep, though a much needed one. He glanced down at his wrist watch noting the time of 11:22pm. He silently hoped that his night wouldn't be one that would go past 1 am again.

Arnold looked up to the stars, the small few that burned past the gilded barriers of the city lights. Usually on these nights they helped bring him peace, and sometimes a early rest. No such luck. As the white lights twinkled and he let their lights sink into his green hued eye his mind again wondered to his personal bully with the pink bow in her hair.

He thought again of the FTi incident, and that fated building she confessed to him on. Yeah it took him a while to figure out his feelings, at least to some extent. But he could now safely say that he did more the 'like like' Helga. It wasn't just her soft sensitive side that he liked either, he actually liked how strong she was as a person. She was one of the few people who tried to solve her own problems rather than always running to him for help, and on top of that she would go out of her way for what she knew to be right, at least after she figured out what she wanted to really do on the subject. Either way she was a good person, a strong person, and she cared about him deeply and even that Arnold liked. He hoped that he would one day get to maybe here one of her poems about him. Still, though he was unsure at the time he was surely glad that she helped them save the neighborhood, one he hoped to never leave. Feeling nostalgic he looked down to the street that lay in front of his house. He smiled as it's quiet streets gave him a sense of home and warmth despite the fall air. When his eyes met the other side of the street he realized there was someone of great familiarity; someone he had been thinking about all day. Arnold needed to see if he was dreaming, he rushed down into his room and bounded through the house rushing to see if the girl outside in the pink dress was really Helga.
