Chapter 2 Blaze of Fury
Edward grabs my hand and his bow to leave...then he stops bone still. "Edward, what's wrong you're scaring me." He closes his eyes
and his lips began to move rapidly. "Edward" I shake him as my eyes scan the dark woods. When his eyes open they
have a soft blue glow and he crouches low like a predator on a hunt as he scanned the woods before us. I look towards
Mount Slagel in the distance. "I smell them Bella." he hissed. Edward stands pulling his bow and ready's his arrow,
"light for me". Just as he speaks the words the arrow burst into a blazing white flame. He turns to me, "When I say
run, run and don't look back." When I take in his presence I'm frozen; his eyes burn into my own. I knew at that very
moment what he had become. A Night Hunter the palace elite guard to the Queen. They possess great strength,
speed, night vision, and a keen sense for danger, but the most lethal gift they possession is their bite, one bite you
die. I'm in awe of him; he is more beautiful in this very moment then I've ever seen him.. Edward has always been
handsome and very strong but now dangerous and lethal in every way. Fear slams into me...his eyes...my vision. I'm frozen unable to wrap my mind around the possibilities.
Edward frowns at me, "Isabella what is wrong with you; I said run!" His voice vibrated in my chest, the voice from my vision. "Bella I said run, there is something out
there and more are coming. They should not be here someone sent them, something is very wrong we will have to run
to the north of Cankos Woods as soon as I kill the one first.." he smiles and turns letting his arrow
blaze on the wind "Be true this day" as the words leaves his lips, a gruesome cry rang thru out the woods in a piercing screech
as the creature goes up in a white blaze...the I see it. I scream in shock as panic began to overcome me. "What was that? I'm afraid,
what's going on?" Edward grabs my hand and starts running. I drop the bucket of fish and follow without question. "I
will have to explain later but for now we must get out of here something is very wrong; your mother should have been
able to see this danger coming and for some reason she did not stop it, or couldn't see it. We have to get back to the
palace to alert the guard right now before more come; they are moving fast we must hurry." We run through the black
water so there will be no tracks. Edward grabs me and pulls me onto his back. We snake through the woods in a
blur as sounds and howls come from all around. Edward stops after we reached North Forks Bridge. He slides me from
his back quickly "Damn it, I forgot the bridge is out but I can't jump it with you on my back and you can't jump it
at all. I will not leave you behind so we will have to find another way." Edward paces back and forth then stops.
"Isabella, listen to me very carefully there is a small secret passage there to the right under the Angrina Waterfall; you
know where it is… right?" I nod my head as tears burn my face. Edward smiles a pained smile and touches my face as
he continues, "Only one of us can go through at a time" Edward points then pushes me forward to run" I will try and
hold them off. "Edward began pulling arrows and firing them at a blinding speed, quicker than I can count. I can't see
what Edward can see but somehow know they are there. I can feel it, "Edward, I will not leave you it's my fault that
we are out here. You said it wasn't safe anymore out here but I still wanted to come. Someone will have to hear the
howling. They are coming now to help us, we are not far from the palace. Please keep running Isabella without me the passage
can't hold us both , you will not die for me…not this night." Edward pulls one arrow and fires it toward the sky, than he
stared at it as if something is wrong. "I should be able to sense the other Night Hunter and alert them to come
with my mind but someone is blocking me. However they will know my flaming arrow and come for us." Edward turns
to me with an intense look in his eyes. "We will not have a chance to make it if I don't try to hold them off for you to
run and get help. Your life is more important than mine Bella…our people need you. The passage is very old it will not
hold both our weight...now please Isabella just please do as I say... run and keep running until your into the passage they
can't enter. Listen Isabella, this is what I was born to do, protect you. Now go alert the Palace guard that something is
wrong. I can't hold them off long it's to many I can see them coming but there is someone else with them, I can't see.
I can only sense them so you must go, now. The one with them can't see you in the dark for some reason but they will
if you stay with me. The creatures with them can smell you and lead them right to you, so hurry please". My heart
ache with the sorrow of a thousand deaths but I know I have to leave him. Just as Edward turns and pulls another
arrow free he grabbed at his chest and fall to the ground at my feet. I looked down and see an arrow lodged deep in
his back. My hearts clasps as if it wants to stop from the pain I fell, this can't be, not Edward.
I look to see where the arrow came from but don't see its origin. It is too dark and howling is coming from all sides.
Panic and confusion begin to take over as I hear movement on the left and then the right. One thing was for certain,
there is no way I'm leaving him alone to die. "Edward, please get up, you must get up please for me." Edward
tries to come to his feet and fall back to the ground in agony. Edward is badly hurt and if I would have just ran he
wouldn't have been trying to explain things to me. He would have never lost his focus. Tears overflow as I began to
cry; holding him in my arms. I look up thru the blur of my sorrow as a creature from every fear that I carry in my
nightmares step into view. The beast before my eyes stand 10 feet tall on all four muscular legs and clawed feet, it
has black and grey splotchy skin, yellow eyes filled with the need to feed, fangs a foot long that drip with deadly
saliva, short pointed ears that lay back to its head. A chill runs down my spine as I now know what they are. I've seen
them in books before and heard some soldiers speaking of them being in the passage of Mount Slagel. My mind will not
work fast enough as the creature slowly approaches. I can only stare in fear captivated by the sheer size of the monster.
How could they be here it's not possible. I lay Edward's body on my knees in helpless defeat …what can I do. I look
down to find Edward holding his chest as he struggling to tell me to run. I know one thing for sure I will not leave his
side if he dies then I will die with him. No one knows we're here. I feel so useless and alone without Edward's guidance
and security. Edward always knows what to do everyone know him as a leader even at an early age. I on the other
hand I was always being treated like I was helpless. It is my time to try to help Edward, but how? I have to do
something. How can I have been so selfish? I look down into Edward's eyes, The light is gone and he is having trouble breathing…I'm dying
seeing him like this, even though only minutes have passed it seemed like a life time. I lean down to whisper words of
comfort, "Hold on please you're the only I have in this life." He grabs me and whispered in my ear "it
is a poison arrow I don't think I can "as his back arches the pain consumes him then he closes his eyes. I began to
tremble all over. "No, No this will not happen, not like this, not because of me. Edward, hold on please" I plead. He
reaches for me but his hand fall to the ground. The pain that I feel becomes the fuel to my fire as it burns thru my
very soul. I scream as his blood runs over my fingers, the beast stops a short distance away staring at me in
confusion. It crouches low at the smell of the blood. It begins hissing and growling flexing its muscles. My heart
hammers at an unnatural pace. I've never felt so crestfallen and alive at the same time the feeling shakes me to the
core. It feels as if my heart will explode at this rate, thoughts began to pass before my mind. Edward has faith in me I
have to have faith in myself. I am not weak. I am Figira; I'm to be queen… we will not die like this. I have too
many questions that need to be answered and I've decide at this very moment they will be answered. I feel my blood
burning and boiling in my veins. Edward's life is so precious to me and if I can save him I will. The heat pulsates around
me; my whole body began to tremble with need...no longer fear. I blink my eyes to clear them. My heart slams in my
chest but surprisingly there was no pain only the feeling of power. I breathe in and close my eyes hoping to clear them.
I open them I can see so clearly as if the sun itself was shining into the night, I can see all of them. It's a lot of them; crouching low in the dark waiting for the first bit, the first taste. "Not this night".
My rage ignites I have to protect Edward's body even if I could not keep his soul. Tears began to run from my eyes burning my face. The beast
are coming faster now, I want them to come; I craved it. I stand over Edward's gravely still body. A fountain of power
surged thru my soul and radiated thru my hands. My hands blaze into a white inferno of fire igniting every nerve in
my body and it feels great. I roll the flames over and around her fingers feeling it, caressing it. It is part of me it is
mine to will, no pain, only the pleasure of strength that pulse thru my body. I've never felt such power and freedom. I
throw the flames into air as blazing rays of hot white fire slams to the ground burning every creature in sight. I scream in
fury as the bliss I find in their demise shake with pleasure, all I could see is Edward's lifeless body laying at my
feet. I scream again but this time it's different the sound wave shakes the ground, the trees split and explode from the
immeasurable force. It levels everything in sight into nothing, all I want to do was destroy it all, this place, these
woods, the reason I lost Edward. There is no secrets left here; no friendship to save. It will die here along with
Edward.
Just as I'm ready to give my life over to the flame…end it all. Edward reaches up grabs my leg with what the little
strength he has left...to stop me. I looked down Edward looks back with half closed eyes. He watches me shaking with
fear and sadness there was also a new pain there; I didn't understand. "Stop Isa…bella it's over...how did you...?"
Edward's finger let go and fall to the ground. Rage still pounds in my heart but I have to let it go. I'm just happy he is
still alive. I try to breathe but I find that I can't as I grab at my chest in panic. I reach for Edward. Everything began
to spin and blur before me than the darkness come to consume me.
"Edward…Hold on."
