Chapter two
It had been a little over a year since Harry had first gotten a certain letter from his mother and the now seventeen year old teen had been through a lot since then; more than most people ever go through.
Currently the war he had been fighting in when he had first got the letter, and the war that had caused Harry to put the information the letter had given him aside, was now finally over. But ending the war had cost Harry a lot more the Harry ever thought it would, and in the end ending the war didn't fill Harry with any sense of joy or accomplishment; not with how much said war had cost him.
First, and worst off to Harry, was that just before Voldemort had finally been finished off once and for all he had managed to fire one last spell. One not directed at Harry, like he had originally though when he almost instinctively moved out of the way of said spell, but at his sister in all but blood who had been fighting right at his side. Hitting her dead on before in a splash of crimson.
The spell in question had cost Voldemort the last of his magic but it had done what the dark lord had wanted and crushed Harry in a way he himself had never been able to while alive. As said spell decapitated Hermione in an instant; causing her blood to splatter all over Harry's face as he brokenly looked at his now fallen sister's body.
Then, not only had Harry lost his sister, the only person Harry felt he could call family….at least in this world that is, Harry found out some even more crushing, news not long after the death of his sister.
Because not even a week after Voldemort had been killed, and only a day after Hermione had been buried, Harry over heard a conversation he knew that he shouldn't have between several people he had thought of as his friends; almost as family in fact.
These people were Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Molly Weasley, and Arthur Weasley, all of who had decided to harshly whisper in what they had thought was an abandon room of Hogwarts one night. It really had only been by chance that Harry had been able to over hear them seeing as that same night Harry, once more unable to sleep, had decided to walk around the freshly repaired school. Hoping to keep his mind of his darkening thoughts; he wasn't so lucky.
The conversation he had overheard, that nearly broke all the trust he had in people, and did destroy the trust he had in the wizarding world as it was, was actually something that answered quite a few questions that both Harry and Hermione had once they had thought back over their years at Hogwarts while going over the laws the wizarding world had; at Hermione insistence that is.
What was said between the traitorous four in the room told Harry that between the four of them, as well as Dumbledore and in some parts rather unknowingly by Snape, was that the majority of his life had been planned out. In fact if what he was hearing was true it was still being planned out by them; without him having any say in it what so ever.
Everything from the abuse he had suffered growing up in the Dursley's house hold, to utter ignorance from everyone he had tried to get help from in the muggle world to get away from said family, to the so called test that Dumbledore had planned out for him each year, to even what classes and friends he was allowed to have.
It had all been mapped out for him the very day he had been placed with the Dursley's to begin with. Mainly at first by Dumbledore but then once he had hit the age of ten both Molly and Author had joined in with the help of their two children, Ron and Ginny, to help make it go as smooth as possible. And Harry had fallen for it hook line and sinker for the longest time.
Harry gritting his teeth continued to listen in on the fours conversation learning about everything he could from them. Like how they had also planned out his future and how Dumbledore had made it all that much more difficult for them for daring to die before they could get the contract permanently into play.
A contract that they would have told him was from his parents, to keep him from protesting too much or even looking to deeply into it, and a contract that would have made him marry Ginny rather he had wanted to or not; and it had been not for quite a while now.
In fact if he was hearing everything right the contract in question would have given Ginny more power over pretty much everything as the one with 'pure' blood. Making Harry wonder just how they had planned on passing said contract off as something his parents would have agreed with see as the pureblood idealism was something his parent's had always fought against; seeing as his mother had been muggle born after all.
Not that this lack of contract seemed to put any damper on their plans as Molly, after ranting a bit about how they would have to do this the old fashion way, told both Ginny and Ron about the different potions that could be used to control Harry. To make, as they called him, the depressing little fuck with too much power and gold on his hands, fall in love with Ginny.
Which after they Married and Ginny got pregnant with a child, which Molly reassured her daughter didn't have to actually be Harry's, that they would make Harry leave a will, playing on his fears of leaving his family unprotected and unprepared, leaving everything to them before killing him in some fashion, or putting him in Azkaban prison. So that they could finally get all the money and fame they so rightly deserved.
Harry, having worked hard with Hermione over controlling his temper throughout the last year while the two of them had looked for Voldemort's horcruxes, managed to stop himself from exploding in both rage and anguish. Therefor alerting the traitors in the room that he was right outside the room they were in and now knew what they were planning for him.
Instead, after biting his lips till he drew blood to remind himself to stay calm, Harry spun around and stormed out of the Castle. Doing his best to do so as quite as he could, while also keeping a tight leash on his magic; not wanting to damage the castle that has just been repaired. No matter how satisfying he maybe to release some of the rage he was currently feeling.
Harry after he left the castle wasted no time spin around to appaparate with on place on his mind Grinngotts. He needed to get there, he needed to hopefully get the goblins on his side and then he needed to get as far away from the greedy hands of the wizarding world as he could. Because Harry knew it was only those four that would try to use him in some way; not in the least bit. No the whole wizarding world would do so, hell they had been doing so since he was only a one year old baby after all; so why would that change after he had done what they wanted.
Harry once he was at Gringotts wasted no time going into the bank, even as he knew that he wouldn't get the warmest reaction from the bank as he did so. What considered the fact the last time he had been in said bank he had stolen something before riding out on the back of a dragon; destroying part of the roof of the bank as he did so.
At the same time, and hoping that Hermione had been right when she had told him this, Harry was going to take responsibility for what he had done and pay for the damages that he had cost them, then some; something the Goblins would respect. Or at least would cause them to listen to him without trying to either rob him blind or run him through with one of their numerous weapons. At least hopefully they would.
Knowing this Harry did his best to ignore the weapons that were currently being pointed at him and instead quickly walked over to the front desk and in a polite but firm voice, that Hermione had taken to calling his general tone, told the Goblin there.
"I would like to talk about paying for the damages I caused. As well as talk to the manager of all my accounts about something that could highly benefit both the goblin nation; as well as myself. Would I be able to do this?"
As Harry said this he couldn't help but gather his magic under his skin as a just in case if he did have to either make a quick escape or have to fight his way out of the bank; if he could fight his way out that is. After all Hermione could be wrong about what she had said about the goblins; it had happened before however rare that had been.
Fortunately it seemed that in this case Hermione hadn't been wrong as after giving Harry a hard stare for a good minute the goblin he had been speaking to gestured for Harry to follow him while telling the still tense, war torn teen in question.
"For both the damages you and you friend caused as well as whatever plan you think could possible benefit the bank you need to speak to the head goblin here, not you mangers. Fair warning though if the clan head doesn't like you plan or thinks you insulting he will separate you head from your shoulders without any hesitation, and no matter how powerful your magic maybe there no way someone as scrawny as you will be able to stop our leader; even if you did end the most recent dark lord."
Harry hearing this couldn't help but lick his lips nervous he could tell that the Goblin wasn't bragging, nor was he underestimating Harry like most people did; he was simply state both a fact and warning to Harry at the same. A warning Harry decided to listen to and take to heart.
It took only a couple of minutes for Harry to get to where the head goblin was at, and during that time Harry had focused on putting his plan together. It was a rough plan and a lot of it was still dealt with a good amount of guess work as well as what he had read in his mother's letter. Not to mention, another good portion of it was based on the research he had done with Hermione over the previous year, but at the moment it was all he had.
And knowing what he did Harry was going to run with it, after all without it he'd pretty much loose his freedom; something Harry wasn't willing to loose now that he finally had it. Say what you will but now that Harry had been able to have the smallest taste of freedom he would fight tooth and nail before he lost it again. Which was something that would happen if he remained where he was.
As soon as Harry was lead into where the head goblin was waiting, which Harry as he entered noted that it looked like a grand chamber of some sort with a large desk made out of metal Harry had never seen before, but could tell was highly magical in some way, right in the center of the room.
It was an impressive, rather intimidating room, more so because of all the large weapons mounted on the walls; all extremely well taken care of and in no way just show cases. Seeing all of these weapons, and then seeing how large and muscular the head goblin was Harry was reminded once again why the Goblins were considered a strong warrior race.
Harry knowing just from the sheer presences of the head goblin that this wasn't a goblin to mess with quickly walked into the room and gave a short but polite bow to the goblin behind the desk. Before getting to the point of why he was there seeing as the head goblin had now raised an eyebrow at him wondering just what he had to say.
"I would like to pay all the damages that I and my friend did to this bank when we escaped from here and if you would hear me out I would like to make a request that could potentially benefit not only me but the goblin nation as well." What he said seemed to have gotten the head goblin's attention because now instead of leaning back slightly in a rather relaxed stance the head goblin was now leaning forward listening to what Harry had to say. Harry seeing this continued on; getting the feeling that the goblin in front of him wasn't the patient sort as he did so.
"Well, slightly after I had come of my seventeen birthday last year, and a good month or two before I had wrongly destroyed part of this bank I had my inheritance done…mostly due to a letter I had gotten from my mother to prove something to myself. It was because of this I had found out that I was, and still am, the lord of the Potter family, lord of the Black family, lord of the Peverell family. Not to mention through right of conquest, I am also currently now the lord of the Slytherin family. What my deal would be would be is to not only to pay all the damages that I have caused, which I shall honor even if you don't agree with the plan I currently have…" here Harry paused slightly debating how to best word this before taking a leaf out of the letter his mother had given him and decided to be rather blunt about his plan; being from a warrior race maybe the goblin in front of him would rather appreciate it that way anyway.
"What I would like to request, and what my plan is, is that I would like to offer a trade of sorts. On top of paying all the damages that the bank obtained I would also like to offer all the goblin made items from all my vaults, even those that had been fully paid off and no longer owned by the goblin nation, however few those maybe, as well half of all the money, and I mean all the money from all the vaults that belong to me, to the goblin nation. In return I humbly ask that you train me to the best of your abilities. I get the feeling that I will need to be extremely strong to survive where I am currently planning on heading and I can't think of anyone better to train me up for that then a strong warrior race such as yours."
Harry after this was said waited with baited breath to see just how the goblin in front of him would react, hoping all the while that said goblin accepted because honestly he didn't know what he would do next if the goblin refused. Except perhaps pay off the damages he had caused to the bank in the first place before going out in a desperate search for someone else who could train, as well as hide, him from the wizarding world.
At least until he could escape the wizarding world and go through the veil where his supposed father was at that is. However it seemed that once again luck was on his side as the Goblin, after a moment of silence and what felt like a soul deep searching look, answered Harry.
"Alright, but know this by the time were done with you, you're going to be cursing yourself for ever asking this of us." And didn't that reply send a nice warm fuzzy feeling down his spine.
