Chapter 1: A New Threat Appears

It was a beautiful morning, the skies were clear and the air felt clean, pure even. Birds sang and it seemed like it would be a perfectly calm day as had been custom since Frieza and his father had attempted to destroy the planet. Of course, the Prince Vegeta cared little for all this beauty, he had been training since before sunrise inside his gravity chamber, this was what he loved, pushing his body to new heights and achieving new feats of power.

So far he had barely broken a sweat and just as he was getting into his training he heard a loud bang at the door. 'Every time…' the Prince thought to himself.

"Vegeta, breakfast is ready!" Bulma shouted through the door. She walked back to the kitchen so she could continue watching the T.V. once she heard him turn off the gravity simulation.

Vegeta dried himself off and shut down the simulation. He walked in the kitchen and sat down to feast on a breakfast fit for a Prince.

"I hope you enjoy it sweetie!" Bulma's mother said as she placed a final set of pancakes on the table for Vegeta to enjoy. He grunted in response, which she happily took as his way of thanking her. "I'll be upstairs if you need anything else." The Prince grunted again as he chewed through some eggs.

The Prince paused for a second to and raised his gaze to the T.V. which the woman was currently watching while she sipped on her morning coffee. They hadn't talked very much since Goku's death, mostly maintaining a distance and only talking to each other out of necessity. The fact that they had a child together did nothing to alleviate the awkwardness of their current situation. He would train and she would tinker in her lab all day.

Vegeta had made it clear a few days prior that he would begin training Trunks as soon as he could walk properly, Bulma didn't object as he long as he didn't go too hard on the kid. The Prince did not have much of a connection to the child, but he had saiyan blood and no son of his would become a weakling. The mere thought was maddening to him.

"Must be some sort of terrorist attack…" Bulma said to herself.

Vegeta began paying attention as an explosion appeared on-screen.

"We are reporting live from Amenbo Island, this is complete insanity!" Fire was raging across the streets, rubble littered the floor and thick black smoke obstructed the view of the scene.

"We've just received word that the cause of this destruction is two young adults, there they are right now! They appear to be teenagers even!" The camera focused on two figures obstructed by the smoke, you could barely make out their faces.

"Wait, what is th - OH MY GOD, RUN!" Suddenly a bright light blinded their view and the transmission cut off, leaving Bulma frightened and Vegeta bewildered.

"Vegeta, could you go to that island and check it out? We have no idea what kind of threat this is." Bulma's eyes widened when she saw Vegeta's puzzled expression.

"What's wrong? Are they that powerful? What is it? Say something Vegeta!"

The Prince ignored her as he continued to try and sense their energy, he was certain those were energy blasts as they were certainly not using any energy blasters.

"I can't sense them…"

"What do you mean you can't sense them? You can't possibly have forgotten how!"

"No, of course not. I'm leaving." With that the Prince went upstairs and dressed up in the armor Bulma had recently created for him.

"Here," Bulma said as she handed him a watch. "The coordinates to the island are there, since you can't sense them, it'll lead you to their location."

Vegeta took the watch, looked her in the eyes one last time and then walked outside, where he took off into the sky.

'Please come back to me Vegeta…' Bulma was scared, she didn't know why but something about this situation just seemed off to her. 'Vegeta is more powerful than anyone, I know he'll be fine… But then why I am so worried? I just don't think I could deal with losing him, especially after we never got a chance to fix things between us.'

"Gohan, you can come down now! Breakfast is on the table!"

"I'm coming mom!" Came the reply from upstairs.

Gohan excitedly jumped out of his chair and hurried downstairs to satisfy his saiyan appetite. Gohan immediately sat on his chair and began digging in while his mother washed the dishes and watched the news on their small T.V.

"We are reporting live from Amenbo Island, this is complete insanity!" Gohan immediately perked his head up and his eyes widened at the destruction he was witnessing.

Chi-Chi tried to change the channel to stop her son getting any ideas but Gohan signaled at her to stop. "Wait, what is that? - OH MY GOD, RUN!" Gohan was forced to watch, he remained speechless as the transmission cut out, the last thing he saw was the two humanoid figures floating behind the thick veil of smoke.

A minute later, Chi-Chi and Gohan still hadn't moved, too stunned to speak or do anything. Right as the silence began to become unbearable the phone rang. Gohan slowly walked over to the phone, as if he knew he would dread whatever he heard on the other side.

A frightened voice confirmed Gohan's fears. "Hey there Gohan, you saw it right?"

"Yes Krillin… I did, unfortunately." He replied

"They said it was on Amenbo island, Yamcha and I are going now, you're coming right?" Krillin asked.

"Yeah, I'm on my way, I'll see you there Krillin, good luck."

"You too kiddo." Krillin nodded to Yamcha and they took off soon after.

"You are not going anywhere!" Chi-Chi screamed at her only son.

"Mom, I have to help those people, we could all be in danger!"

"That is not my problem, you are my son and my main concern."

"I'll be fine mom, I'm a Super Saiyan now and I'm sure Vegeta's headed there too! No one can stop the two of us." Right as Chi-Chi was about to berate her child for trying to go against her wishes and put himself in harm's way again they heard the front door open.

"Mr. Piccolo, you heard right?"

"Yes, and it doesn't look good, we're going to need you Gohan."

"Come on Piccolo, is this really necessary? Gohan's still just a kid…"

"Gohan is more powerful than all of us Chi-Chi, he'll be fine, but I promise if things get too dangerous I'll make sure he gets out of there"

Chi-Chi had grown to trust Piccolo immensely since Goku's untimely death. He had been a father to Gohan when he needed it most, and she appreciated that beyond measure. "Well, I guess if you'll be there I can allow him to go. But the moment things get too dangerous you make sure he leaves, alright?"

"You have my word." Piccolo assured her. With that Piccolo gave Gohan a purple gi identical to his own and they took off.

They had been flying for a few minutes and Piccolo had remained surprisingly silent, almost pensive it seemed. Gohan wondered what could be going through his mind. They couldn't sense whoever it was so they had no idea how powerful this opponent could be.

"Are you okay Mr. Piccolo?" The young boy asked.

"Listen Gohan," He began with a serious tone. "There is something I have to do, I trust you with this for now, remember our training, I'll join you as soon as I can, got it?"

"I don't understand Mr. Piccolo, where are you going?"

"Don't worry about it, take care Gohan." With that, the Namekian took off in the other direction, leaving the young saiyan confused.

"Alright then, I can do this, can't doubt myself now, those people need me!" The boy increased his speed and blasted toward the island.

The scene Vegeta witnessed upon arriving would have almost stunned him had it not been for his service under Frieza. There was no rhyme or reason to this madness, it was pure unadulterated chaos. Buildings destroyed, fires erupting all over, vehicles crashed or blown up, dead bodies littering the streets, the screams from those who were still alive. It wasn't calculated, just the work of a madman. The kind of fun Nappa would indulge in if left unchecked. If he was being honest with himself, it almost disgusted him.

"Well, look who showed up, I think we're about to have some real fun now sis!"

Vegeta directed his gaze upward, and grinned. "Well, you've certainly saved me the trouble of looking for you, just for that, I might kill you quickly!"

Hello there, it's been a long time hasn't it? Sorry about that, let's see if we can get this ball rolling again, for real this time. On that note, I'm trying to find an editor for this story. If you're interested in working with me to make this story as good as possible, you'll find my email in my profile bio. I need you to send me three things:

1)Your age

2)Country you are currently living in

3)One or two pieces you've written(could be an essay for school or just a story you wrote in your spare time, anything that shows off your prowess as a writer will do)

Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed the very first chapter, the action finally starts in the next one!

Comment responses are below

C- Great end to the prologue and looking forward to the story really starting.

Until the next one.

R- Thanks for the review, hope you enjoy the first chapter.

C- I really enjoyed the change in canon seeing as pretty much all the people who were supposed to be killed by the Androids managed to survive. I think that Vegeta and Piccolo would probably end up stepping up and having to do that so much sooner, unlike the Androids originally taking them utterly unawares.

What'd be interesting would be someone becoming strong enough to destroy 17 and 18 and then have Trunks & Gohan travel back in time to warn people in the past as well as prevent Goku's death

R- Thanks for the review. Yeah, Vegeta and Piccolo really need to step up now that Goku is permanently gone. The element of time travel will come into the story soon, you'll see how it all plays out.

C- This is utterly amazing! I can't wait for the next chapter!

R- Thanks for the review. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

C- Awesome concept (seeing as it involves Mirai Gohan aka Mr. BADASS) and great potential m8 XD

I particularly liked the fact that you kept all of the chars IN-character, eg: Chi-Chi (reacting to an unconscious Gohan) and Piccolo (carrying Gohan back to his home)

Sweet, good progression and a look into the prince's change in outlook. (Poor Bulma)

I'm honestly wondering just how well THIS version of Vegeta will fare against Androids 17 and 18... seeing as they outclass even a regular SSJ with ease (and the proud saiyan hasn't been keeping up with his training too!) ;P

Nyc approach with the prologue being three chapters long! LOL!

But yeah, it's cool that you're taking your time with this... since a proper pacing and 'flow' is required for AU stories in any case ;D

Good luck for the next one m8!

Btw, the fight scene was quite well-placed (flashback was totally anime-ish IMO, reminded me of good ol' DBZ!)

R- Thanks for the review. I try to keep the characters the same as they are in canon as much as possible, making sure every line of dialogue is something I could conceivably hear them saying in my head. I really dislike it when writers change the personality of a character for no good reason. If you're keeping the same background for the character, then the personality should remain the same. I'm glad you think I did a good job in this department. As for Vegeta, you'll have to wait and see how he handles this one! It was my first try at writing a fight scene so I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

C- This is an original story, with excellent grammar. I enjoyed reading the first three chapters and hope you do manage to keep updating. My only suggestion for you is to make each chapter longer, as it gets easier to get into a story with longer chapter

R- Thanks for the review. I'll work on the length for sure, thanks for the advice.

C- This story is great! I can't wait for the next chapter! Is Vegeta, going to be a bit of a father figure for Gohan?

R- Thanks for the review. The Prince can be very stubborn and arrogant at times, but he does recognize Gohan's power and even respects it, especially due to Gohan's young age. They'll have an interesting relationship, you'll have to wait and see!

C- Please update D: I had so much hope for this Fic :'/

When you said you were going to update on saturday...which saturday exactly did you mean? X.x

Guess your not coming back :'(

Its been awhile...and I hope your okay and nothing happened to you...all I ask is...please...i've been looking forever for an alternate mirai universe where the heroes win...I dont know if you gave up on this fic or not...but it was so well written...I could actually imagine how awesome it would be... If your healthy and doing okay, please, at least tell us that your on hiatus or couldnt finish it...but if something bad happened to you, I hope your okay :'/

R- Sorry about that friend, I'm back now, I'll continue to work on the story and hope you enjoy.

C- I Really Love This Story! One Idea though. Maybe you give us some detail on what characters look like (hair style, clothes, facial details ect.)

R- Thanks for the review. I have never been good with describing clothes to be honest, my wardrobe isn't exactly the most diverse to say the least. But I will work on improving that, thanks for the advice.

C- ookaaay i'll just go ahead and favorite this thank you

R- Thanks for the review, I'm very glad you've enjoyed it.

C- This is really good!

R- Thanks! I hope you enjoy.

C- I really like where this is going and I'm interested in reading more. Update soon please.

R- Thanks. Here it is, hope you enjoy.
