She's getting married. I should be happy for her, for them. She loves Tom, and he loves her. Those two facts should be enough for me to put it all to bed. They've been together forever, now. He's not the same horny, egocentric, plebeian he once was. Tom's certainly matured, proven himself to be a fine officer, a good man —time and time, again. He's earned my respect.
But I can't help the way I feel, like, somehow, he's not worthy of her. Hell, maybe, it's not him. Maybe, no one will ever be good enough to have my girl.
