new-wet wings that try to fly
try to find a
shadowcave
away from prying eyes.
darkness bird
hiding bird
nests are built and then they fall
she sweeps and jumps and
flies away
and utters not a call.
demon bird
blackened bird
a careful spirit waits inside
and laughs and lurks
and beckons out
all that she tries to hide.
gemstone bird
raven bird
sooty feathers, bloodred eyes
there's nothing left to blot it out
all she can do is fly.
