This was only going to be two chapters long originally but I quite like how this is going so I might make it a longer story.
Pls review!
Natasha turned back to Tony . Tony had tears streaming down his face and was drinking his scotch, showing no intention of slowing down.
Well, the bottle was the first step.
"Tony come on, give me the bottle." Natasha tried, starting off by attempting to coax Tony into giving her the bottle himself. After not saying or doing anything, it was clear that that was not going to be an option.
Natasha walked up to Tony and began to try and snatch the bottle away from him.
"Hey... Natasha... Let go!" Tony said, struggling to hold onto his bottle. However, he was too drunk and no match for Natasha's strength, who managed to pry the bottle out of his hands.
Now that that was taken care of, Natasha now had to help him calm down and get him to go to sleep, which was going to be a challenge as Tony was sobbing uncontrollably and still drunk off his ass.
"Hey Tony, Tony, calm down, it's okay." Natasha said, trying to enclose him in an embrace, but Tony shoved her hands away.
"No, no it's not okay. They're dead because of me." Tony said in between sobs.
"Honey, it wasn't your fault." Natasha said, trying to reassure Tony.
"Yes, yes it was. They never would've been in that car had it not been for me and then they would still be alive." Tony insisted.
"Tony, you didn't know that Howard was going to stage a car accident."
"But I should have guessed, I should have known that he would do something like that. I should have waited before running away from him when he was that angry. I should have done anything, but I did nothing and they died for... my... mistake." Tony said, barely managing to form the last sentence as he was crying too hard.
"Honey, you couldn't have known. It wasn't your fault." Natasha said again, her heart breaking at the sight of the normally confident and calm Tony so broken and vulnerable.
Natasha tried again to pull him into an embrace and this time Tony didn't resist.
Natasha held his trembling, sobbing body and let him sob into her, pulling him close.
"Shhh...shhhh...it's okay." Natasha soothed. "Tony, why don't you try to go to sleep?"
Tony immeadiately pulled himself from Natasha's hold.
"No, I can't."
"What do you mean you can't?" Natasha questioned. Tony simply shook his head in response. "Is it nightmares?"
"Maybe" Tony mumbled back in response.
"Hey, it's okay, I'll stay with you."
"Promise?"
"Promise." Tony started to reach down to take his shoes off but Natasha stopped him. "I'll do it." She said before reaching down and taking his shoes off for him. "Now come on. Lie down."
Natasha sat down next to him on the bed and let him lie down, pulling his head to rest on her chest. It took about 10 minutes for the sobbing to stop. After that, Natasha waited until she heard his breathing even out, before gently removing his head from her chest and getting up out of the bed.
He was fast asleep. Careful not to wake him, she examined his hand from where he'd punched the mirror. There were a few bits of broken mirror shards embedded into his hand. It didn't look to be that deep except for one piece. She'd get Bruce to take the shards out and dress his hand.
She told Jarvis to dim the lights, before creeping out the door and gently shutting it behind her
The next chapter will have the rest of the team again.
Sorry that this was a slightly shorter chapter than the first.
