A/N: helloooooo i'm back! so yay (or not yay, that's for you to decide). it's currently 6:00 PM and i'm ignoring my homework so yay fun. i don't even remember what homework i have. maybe i don't have any lol. but anywayyyy here's another chapter! the next one will be in Scorpius's pov since we haven't really seen how he feels yet. i'm still kind of picking through this story and i might take it down on wattpad because i like this site soooo much better than wattpad because it's so much easier to find new stories and not just the extremely popular ones. anyway sorry for the paragraph cause yall probably don't even care about any of this but enjoy the chapter! oh and btw one last thing (i promise this is it) thanks for the reviews on the last chapter they were super nice and they made my day!
The next morning, Rose felt like a mess. She looked in the mirror and saw that she looked like a mess too. Her curly red hair was a tangled chaos, she had an acne breakout on her chin, and she had circles under her eyes. Of course she was this much of a mess on the first day of school.
She then felt something trickle down her leg. Of course she had her period on top of everything else.
"Fuck." Rose wasn't the type to swear much, but it was just that kind of day.
She took a long, hot shower even though she showered the night before. She didn't really care if she missed breakfast. She wasn't very hungry, and she didn't really want to talk to anybody anyway. She wondered if she could get away with not showing up to class, but she knew that wasn't feasible. It was the first day of school, after all.
After that, she put on her uniform and brushed out her hair, tying it up into a slightly messy high ponytail. She used some concealer to fix her acne and circles as well.
Rose checked her watch and noticed there was enough time left to grab some toast at breakfast, so she walked down to the Great Hall and sat in her usual spot next to Roni, taking a slice of toast and lightly buttering it before taking a bite.
"Hey Rosie," said Roni with a smile. "Ready for classes today?"
"Not really, no," said Rose tiredly.
"Oh, you'll be fine," said Roni, supportively patting Rose on the back. "By the way, Scorpius was looking for you earlier." Rose groaned. Of course he was looking for her. She turned to the Slytherin table to see if Scorpius was still there, and he was. He had seemingly been staring at her for a while because she locked eyes with him for a split second before she blushed and turned away.
"I'll talk to him later."
"Coming from you, that means you won't talk to him at all. What's wrong?" Roni asked, her tone sounding concerned.
"I'm just not in the mood today."
"Come on, he is one of your best friends. You always want to talk to him. Tell me what's wrong," Roni argued, and Rose sighed, deciding it wasn't worth it to protest anymore.
"I am still kind of upset about the whole train thing," she admitted.
"You have to forgive him for that, we all know that Scorp is a stupid idiot but he does care about you and you're one of his best friends. We'll always be special to him, but the kid turned hot over the summer which anyone with eyes can see, of course he is gonna seek out hot girls now that people realized that he exists for a reason other than his heritage. Give him a couple weeks and he will get over himself," said Roni. She was observing her long French manicured nails as she spoke.
"I... guess you're right. It's just-"
"What else could there possibly be?" asked Roni, and Rose turned as red as her hair.
"I like him."
"Him as in-?"
"Yes, that him, now shush!" Rose hissed.
"Well then you should tell him," Roni said nonchalantly and Rose looked at her like she was crazy.
"Are you kidding me? No!" she exclaimed. "What kind of idea is that? If he doesn't feel the same way, that'll ruin everything."
"It's the only way to find out if he likes you back."
"No, I am not telling him, and you have to promise not to tell him either," said Rose, and she looked into her friend's eyes so that she wouldn't lie.
"Okay, fine. But then at least stop moping and forgive him," said Roni. "But I won't tell Scorpius."
"Thank you."

Roni ran over to Rose on the way to class after breakfast. They usually walked together but Roni had gone to do something that day. "So Al and I were talking about your pathetic love life and-"
"You said you wouldn't tell!" Rose exclaimed, followed by a groan.
"I didn't tell Scorpius, and that's all I ever promised anyway. Besides, Al apparently already knew. But I asked him if he knew if Scorp likes you and he said he couldn't tell," she argued, and Rose mentally kicked herself for allowing a plot hole in a promise between her and Roni. Roni always found plot holes in promises and used them to her advantage.
"Why are you telling me this if you didn't get a definite answer?" asked Rose with a sigh.
"Do I need to do all the logical thinking in this friendship myself? The reason Al had to promise not to tell is obviously that Scorp asked him not to tell because he told Al he likes you!" Rose thought it about for a second, trying very hard to come up with an argument.
"Well, I am not taking the risk! Besides, it's just a stupid crush."
"Considering we are still talking about him, it's a pretty big crush."
"Can we do this another time? I already feel like shit today and I am not in the mood to go asking out boys," Rose said, slumping in her seat with a sigh.
"Okay, you know I love you. Now let's head to class, nothing like potions with the Slytherins on a shitty day."
When Rose and Roni arrived at potions, they looked at the board and it said to sit with your partner for the day. They had this class with the Slytherins, which is why Albus was sitting by himself twirling his quill between his fingers with a bored expression (his boyfriend was a Ravenclaw so he wasn't in their potions class and he was a bit of a drama queen so it was normal for him to act like this). However, he perked up and smiled when he saw the girls.
"Okay, I will work with Al and you can work with Scorp, since you guys are the smart ones and we're the dumb ones," said Roni, slipping into the seat next to Albus before Rose could protest. She then sighed and sat in the chair next to Scorpius. He was sitting at the table behind Al.
"Hey," Scorpius said awkwardly, and Rose looked over at him to see he was smiling sheepishly and running a hand through his hair.
"Hey." She gave him a quick, small smile and pulled her hair over her shoulder before looking up at the board and opening her book.
The teacher, Professor Autumn, entered the classroom right after Rose had found the right page in her textbook. Professor Slughorn had retired a couple of years ago, and Professor Autumn had been his replacement. She was a tall, slender woman with long lilac-colored hair always tied up in a ponytail and bright blue eyes. She was very young and quite pretty, and she was liked by a lot of students.
They had some questions from the textbook to answer in class that day, so Rose started writing her answers neatly on a piece of parchment. She didn't like partner work very much, and she usually only consulted her partner if she was stuck on a question for this type of assignment.
"So are you still mad at me then?" asked Scorpius without looking up from his paper, and Rose sighed.
"No, I'm not. No point in holding grudges."
"Then what's bothering you?" he asked, and he was now looking at her with a look of concern and sympathy.
"It's complicated," she said airily, not meeting his gaze and focusing on her paper. She gripped her quill tighter and started to write faster, making her normally tidy handwriting appear less neat.
"Come on, I still don't get why you tell stuff to Roni and not me. Earlier I saw her and Albus chatting so I went to say hi and she told me to go make out with some stupid blonde girl or something. I have never even kissed someone who I haven't dated, so what is that even supposed to mean?"
Suddenly, Roni turned around and burst out laughing. "You haven't kissed a girl without dating them? That is so priceless! Oh my gosh, people always think you are going to be some leather jacket, 4 girlfriends, cigarette smoking bad boy before they meet you but you are literally such a dork."
"Ok, Roni, we get it; you have at least 5 snogging partners at all times," Scorpius said with an eye roll. "But some of us actually date for the sentiment of it." Rose smiled to herself, thinking about how cute that statement was.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's just so funny to me that you're literally the least bad boy person ever despite your reputation it the wizarding community," Roni said, still laughing a bit. "But I need to drag you two into a game of truth or dare because you haven't done anything fun during your time here. I don't even know how I ended up in this friend group." She turned back around and got back to doing her paper after a couple more giggles.
"Don't worry about Roni, it's not personal. Being mean is kinda her thing," said Rose to Scorpius without looking up from her paper.
"I know, but she's not wrong. I sometimes wish I could be carefree like her, but I'm just not exciting and rebellious like that. I worry too much, to be honest."
"Well, I think that's okay," Rose said, and her heart started to beat a little faster. "I think some girls like guys that are thoughtful. Not everyone wants a bad boy."
"Do you really think so?" Scorpius asked, glancing at her without turning his head for a couple of seconds before starting to write again.
"Yeah. I know so. Because I'm not into bad boys, so there's at least one girl in the world who isn't into them," she responded with a small laugh, and Scorpius laughed too.
The bell rang and Rosie packed up her stuff, shooting Scorpius a smile and a wave before walking out with Roni.
