Chapter 2: Sandblast City
Jack Rabbit (That's his name, not making it up.) walked around the city, making sure everything was in order, and that his orders were being followed. As he made his rounds, he heard a rumbling noise. As the noise got louder he sighed and picked up his radio. "Avery, the DEL is back again. Just increase the shield power and hit them with a couple of E.M.P.s. As much as I like beating them up, it is kind of getting old." His orders sent, Jack started to walk back to his office, and more importantly, a nap.
A large explosion made the ground shake as a projectile hit the city's shield. "Avery! I thought I said to hit them with an E.M.P. Why are the still here?!" He yelled into his radio. A stuttered reply came back. "I did, Jack. I think I just made them mad." Jack turned to look at what Avery was yammering about, but dropped the radio when he saw what was coming. Slowly recovering, he picked up the radio. "Avery, send out a distress call. I don't care if Eggman himself shows up. Just get someone here before we're just spots on the floor."
MPFS Gerald Robotnik
Maria surveyed her fleet of airships as they broke through the atmosphere and began to descend toward their first target. The fleet shifted as the began to form up around the Gerald, her personal battle cruiser. "TAPS, what is our ETA?" She asked the control program as she sat down in her command chair. "ETA is ten minutes." Maria smiled, they were making better time than she thought. "Good, any indication of GUN attempting to counterattack us?" The computer brought up a display with multiple red triangles starting to appear near the main GUN bases. "GUN appears to be launching fighters to try and intercept the fleet. Fortunately, their fastest fighters wont be able to reach us until Sandblast city has been under siege for at least thirty minutes." The computer answered. Maria leaned back in her chair and grinned. "Good, good." Her eyes fly open as a dot appears on the radar near New Mobotropolis. "TAPS, what is that dot?" The computer made noises as if it was confused as the dot made its way towards the city at an unusually fast pace. "Unknown object is currently on course for Sandblast City, speed is currently exceeding that of almost all known machines." Maria's grinned returned as she got out of her chair made her way off of the bridge. "TAPS, continue on as planned. I believe one of our special guests is one his way, and I want to deal with him personally."
As the doors closed behind her the computer could hear her almost insane chuckling as she walked down the corridor towards her personal hanger. The program watched her walk down the halls for a bit, all the while she laughed and muttered to herself. The screen in in the front of the bridge flashed up a new windows as TAPS began to speak. "Orders confirmed. Continuing with Sandblast City invasion as planned." There was a pause, and then another window opened, this time a red one. "New subsystem command added. Beginning psychological observation of Commander Robotnik."
Near Sandblast City
Sonic the Hedgehog slowed down as he neared Sandblast city. He was hoping GUN was just being over dramatic when they said that Sandblast City was going to be wiped out, but they were right. The City's shield were already starting to shrink, the shields constricting to cover a smaller area in an attempt to stay active under the barrage of fire from the airships over head. Meanwhile, the parts of the city that were already exposed by the shrinking shield were already destroyed or captured by the robots that were surrounding the city.
Sonic picked up his pace until he was stopped by a laser blast that nearly hit him. Looking up, he saw his attacker grin at him as they descended. A girl with blue eyes, and blonde hair with two yellow ears peaking out landed in front of him. "So, you're the Sonic the Hedgehog that I keep hearing about." She said with an even, almost polite tone. "Uh... Yeah. And you are?" She smirked. supposedly being dead for fifty years had its perks. "Excuse me for the lack of introduction, I am Maria Robotnik, the commander of the Mobius Purification Force." Sonic tensed at the mention of her last name. "Robotnik huh. I guess your working for that slime ball Eggman then." Sonic stated with contempt. Maria vivibly grew irritated. "No, and you will do well to not associate me with my idiot cousin. Now, I will give you one chance, leave this place at once. If you do not, then I will be forced to deal with me myself." Sonic let the words sink in and then began to laugh. "You, beat me? Oh that's rich. Now, I'll make my offer, stop your attack on Sandblast City and I wont have to rough you up." Maria just shook her head and sighed. "I suppose that was too much to hope for. So be it then."
Maria unsheathed her sword and pointed it at the hedgehog. "Farewell then." Maria flicked her fingers and sent a laser blast from the tip of her sword straight at the hedgehog. Sonic sped around behind Maria and laughed. "You're too slow!" Sonic launched a homing attack at the back of her head in the hopes of knocking her out. Unfortunately for him Maria managed to match his speed as she spun around and blocked the attack with her sword, while simultaneously sending electricity through her blade to zap the rodent. Sonic received the biggest shock of his life.
As Maria stood over the barely conscious hedgehog, she laughed. "You're just a little bit to reliant on that residual power ring energy aren't you? Well, I am not my cousin. Instead of trying to counteract it, I used it against you. You know how the old saying goes "too much of a good thing is bad for you". Have a good rest. I think some more of your friends are showing up so I'll be back." And with that, Maria jumped off to meet that GUN forces that were beginning to enter the fray.

Thanks for reading! Sorry about how long it is taking me to update. College finals for the semester are coming up so I am using my Thanksgiving break to update some of my fanfiction and maybe post a new one as well.
