I gasped. How could this be? My father was looking for a crew. Well the answer was simple, I would find my father. Little did I know that it would take me years before I would ever set eyes on my father.
"Hey, Knife? Ya okay?"
I turned till I was facing Kidd.
"Do ya hear tha' Kidd?" I asked.
"Wha'?" He asked. As ignorant as ever.
I sighed and whispered
"listen to the crowd."
I watched his face go through a mix of emotions, till it settled on determined. His face was scrunched up in concentration. His long, chocolate hair was fluttering around his face. His dark eyes were focusing on nothing but I know how intense they could be. We both hadn't washed in days but when the breeze blew towards me he smelled the perfect mix of salt, sea, and Kidd…wait what is this. No. I shake my head to banish these runaway thoughts.
"I'm going wi' ya, Knife."
That is Kidd. No arguing with him. He was not going to take no for an answer.
"Well, were gonna need a ship."
There was one I had my eye on. It was a beautiful ship. She had all her rigging. She wasn't too big, just big enough to be impressive. She was a deep cherry wood color. The Dark Queen of Fate. But she was easily a twenty man crew. I turned to Kidd.
"Were gonna need twenty crewmen, and enough gold to buy a ship."
He smiled, "I know 20 men willin' to work for food and adventure, but gold …that might be difficult." He frowned.
"Hey, I punched his arm, "were pirates, we'll think of something'"
We walked up to the man in charge of The Dark Queen of Fate. He was a fat, balding man, in a greasy shirt and….had forgotten to put on trousers this morning.'
"Hey, were interested in buyin' your ship." I said
"No kid is getting' the Queen." He spat.
Well this jerk wasn't even going to offer us a chance at buying her, than we would resort to other measures.
"Well, me'sire if you won't consider us buyers than we will resort to other measures. I was gonna go about this a right an' proper way, but ya leave me no choice."
With that Kidd and I turned around and left.
Time to resort to piracy.
