"Who's hand is that?" Gumi shouted, pointing upwards at the long fingers peeping out of the window sill.
Before anyone could answer, Galaco had slid herself off the window, now falling headfirst to the ground; arms spread out like wings.
"NO!" Piko and Cul hollered.
They tried and grappled for Galaco the second they managed to break the door down but they were only millimeters away from a lock of her hair as she made the fall. The duo now looked out of the window, their white hands gripping onto the grooves of the window sill. Everything seemed to have warped into slow motion
Gackupo cursed. He hoped that his inflatable eggplant was in the right spot.
Meiko, who was gripping the neck of her bottle so tightly in fear, slowly let her fingers loose and dropped the bottle. It did not shatter.
Rin suddenly went into hysterics as Galaco's body neared the ground. She could not tell if Galaco would land on the eggplant or on the hard, solid ground. Rin stopped holding onto the stem of the inflatable eggplant and hopped-ran away, eyes as round and blue as they could.
"Rin- hold yourself together!" Len yelled at her in frustration.
They had to catch Galaco, they must. Everyone mattered. If they had to shift the air bed at the last minute, they must.
But just then, Kaito broke off from the group and ran ten steps diagonally from where he was stationed, his long and thin arms stretching out, his eyes trained on what was above.
Luka's hands shivered as she zoomed in onto Kaito whose arms were streching out to catch Galaco who was off range of the inflatable eggplant. She begged that he would catch her.
Kaito's knees buckled in an odd manner as Galaco crashed into him.
"Kaito! Galaco!" Meiko shouted as she dashed towards them, stooping down to check for Galaco's pulse.
Behind her was the police and paramedics. The other vocaloids ran towards them.
"Is she okay?"
"Kaito, you okay?"
"Oh my gosh..."
"The paramedics are here!"
"Galaco..." Meiko started, standing up, a smile of relief breaking out of her pale face. "Is not dead."
Miku tottered towards the ward, hands hugging a huge bouqet of daffodils. She knew Galaco liked those. She was very, very late.
When she stepped in, her other friends were either standing or sitting around Galaco in her bed. A needle was injected into each of her hand. Her eyes were closed and her mouth was slightly open.
"Is-Is she okay?" Miku whimpered.
They all turned to her.
"More or less," Luka whispered.
"The paramedics said that she will live, but while they were in the Emergency Room, they realized something..." Cul stated.
Miku's throat grew tight.
"Apparently, her voice bank is broken. So they are making an appeal for her master to allow them to create a new one for her," Kaito continued.
Miku looked down at Kaito's knees.
"Are-Are your knees... Alright?"
"Well, they are brittle knees. But they'll hold," Meiko said half-teasingly, nudging Kaito on the shoulder. "I thought someone more strong and manly should have done the heroic deed instead." She slyly added, giving Gackupo a side glance.
Gackupo just sighed.
"Kaito made the run first, and I would never have made it to where Galaco landed," he said in defense.
"Aha..." Gumi said pointedly, elbowing him playfully, looking up the ceiling.
Gackupo's face made everyone giggle.
Galaco stifled, opening her eyes. Everyone ceased their laughter.
"Galaco!" They chorused, rushing towards her.
She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out, not even a sound. She felt puzzled. She should have been dead, the very least here. She blinked dumbfounded, at everyone's eyes and slowly pointed at her throat questioningly. Kaito repeated himself for her once again.
Galaco looked at him, then his knees, then slowly pointed at them.
"They are fine, don't worry," Kaito reassured her smilingly.
Galaco looked one round at everyone again, and tears welled up in her eyes, her lips curling into a wistful frown.
"Nee, Galaco," Miku said cheerfully as she went forward to hold her hand together gently. "Nobody wants you gone, so don't think you are a burden to us."
Galaco felt a smile coming from herself.
So she was appreciated by her friends.
Never mind her masters.
She felt like singing all over again.
Just then, one of the nurses shuffled in.
"The masters have responded; they have considered to let us conduct surgery on Galaco for a new voice bank."
Everybody cheered.
"Who knows, your voice may turn out sounding better and nicer!" Rin exclaimed.
Tears came to Galaco again, but they were tears of happiness and gratitude.
