Sage woke slowly, stretching with a yawn. It was a beautiful day, but rather early. That seemed odd to the normally late riser, but maybe elves didn't need as much sleep as humans did. Something was wrong though, and suddenly she realized what it was; she had planned on starting and ending each chapter with Eragon. As the main character he certainly deserved that honor. That stupid narrator had shone up early again. She would go see him right away, but first she had to get ready.
Did elves have morning breath? Eww; they did. But did they have tooth brushes? Sage hunted around the tent to no avail until she remembered learning that before toothbrushes some people chewed on the ends of licorice root, and the splintered wood cleaned their teeth, and licorice at least was better than morning breath. She hunted around again, this time finding a cup of stick, one of which she stuck in her mouth and began to chew on. Thanking her lucky stars for obscure bits of knowledge, she finished getting dressed, and added her twin swords to her belt.
Finally, she determined herself to be decent, and headed out into the sunlight. Sage meant to go see Eragon right away, she really did, but then she remembered the existence of something called breakfast, and headed out to find some.
"Wow, I sure am hungry!" She exclaimed not so quietly, hoping a member of the crowd she was in would take pity on her, and lead her to food. A smallish boy did come to her rescue, and grabbed her hand so they wouldn't be separated in the huge crowd. After a while, the elf spoke. "Shouldn't you be more intimidated?" She asked, "Because, I'm, you know, an elf?"
"Well, I used to be intimidated by anyone important, but Lady Nasuada has me run errands for all sorts, like Eragon Shadeslayer, some of his other elven guards, important dwarves, and even Saphira once or twice. I kind of got over the whole thing."
"Oh, okay, that makes sense." Sage said, nodding her head in agreement. Neither of them noticed that they were being watched.

A certain were cat paced back and forth in front of another certain witch. He wasn't in awe of her at all! He said for about the buzilionth time.
"Then maybe she isn't one of these Sues that you keep going on about." Replied Angela, as she had every other time before.
But what else could she be?
"Well, maybe he's just used to famous people like you said that he said."
You don't just get used to a Sue! They make everyone lust after them, because they have to be perfect or they aren't a Sue!
"Well he is only 11."
A particularly bad Suethor wouldn't hesitate to corrupt innocence, but we could possibly only have a half sue on our hands. He still should have shown adoration for her though.
"Well, he was probably trying to act cool in front of her."
Yes, but he couldn't of completely resisted her charms! And he wasn't in awe of her at all!
Angela sighed. "Well then maybe she isn't one of these Sues that you keep going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about."

"Saphira!" Sage squealed. The elf had finished eating and decided that this would be a good chapter to visit everyone's favorite dragon, and the boy-who-was-not-intimidated-by-her-elfenness (whose name was Samuel) had led her to Eragon's tent. Though she had gotten there twice on her own it was better safe than sorry, and this was a lot faster. Soon she would have the layout down, but until then…
Pointed ear?
"Hi Saphira!" she gushed.
Pointed ear, I was napping. Is Eragon in trouble?
"Uh, not that I know of… Should he be? Is it my turn to guard him?"
That is none of my concern. I was merely wondering what your very good reason for interrupting my sleep was.
"What?" Sage exclaimed, hurt and shock on her face. She hadn't quite mastered Arya's patented my-face-never-shows-any-emotion-unless-a-certain-dragon-rider-has-asked-me-out-yet-again-in-which-case-I-will-show-disgust-mixed-with-pity look. "I just wanted to meet you. I mean, I see you sometimes while doing my guarding thing, but we've never been formally introduced… I just thought…"
Saphira yawned then, showing nearly all of her sharp, pointy, huge teeth. Sage gulped then.
"Well sorry about all of that. I guess that I'll just be off now, and you can be sure that I won't bother you again!" She said very quickly while backing away. "Bye!" she squeaked.
Once the elf was a safe distance away, (i.e. in her tent, under the covers) she began to get over the shock of what had just happened. Saphira hadn't liked her! How was that possible? Wasn't everyone supposed to like her? This wasn't the way things were supposed to work!
First, Solembum refused to even speak to her. How was she supposed to win him over like that? Then she had offended Elva and between her and the were-cat they would definitely turn Angela against her, and she was one of her favorite characters!
Nasuada was overworked and overwhelmed so it was understandable that a random elf barging into her tent would probably catch her at a bad moment, but the dark skinned leader would likely be embarrassed and didn't have time to spare on her anyway.
Arya put up with her, and was really nice to teach her swordplay, but enjoyed kicking her but a little too much. And Eragon was annoyed by how often she popped up and being in his tent. He was probably annoyed that he had seen all those fairths of Arya. It wasn't like she told anyone, not even the readers…oops!
Well, maybe she could be annoying, but that was just part of her charm! Certainly she deserved some respect as an author. Would C.P, THE AUTHOR (cue lightning bolt), get this kind of treatment should he appear in his own books?
Sage wanted Greenie now more than ever; people would have to like her if she was a rider, and even if they didn't, Greenie would stay by her no matter what. What she needed was a good plan to get the green egg. And then hope that he would hatch for her.
But wait! Those other elven guards… Friend possibilities! Ten other O.C. friend opportunities! (not counting herself or Blodhgarm) Ten other elves who probably wouldn't hate her! She could go meet them… But she had to spar with Arya now. AND SHE WAS GOING TO BE LATE! Her soliloquy had taken up way too much time! Arya was going to kill her. It was time to find out just how fast she could run without fearing a dragon's wrath.
Hey! Silverleaf here. I've decided on shorter chapters and quicker updates, though I understand that this is not a quick update. Thank you to all the wonderful reviewers. Hopefully I'll post something new soon!
If anyone would particularly like a place as a member of the guard they should put details in the review. I have room for 5 female and 5 male. Please include the following:
-gender
-name
-physical appearance
-at least three characteristics or quirks
-other misc.
You could also include a brief history, and if a male O.C. so wishes he could specify that he would like to be the guard Sage is planning to 'fall for' (bearing in mind that I fully intend to keep it PG rated or K+ to if you're going by fanfiction ratings… I'm going to keep it clean.)
See you next time!
