Ginger woke up to the sound of songbirds chirping and singing their beautiful little tunes. She looked around to see that herself and Rocky had fallen asleep on the blanket last night and didn't go home to their hut. Ginger turns her head slightly and gave the sleeping rooster a kiss on his cheek, Rocky starting to wake up
"Good morning, fly boy." Ginger smiles as he opened his eyes
"Didn't we go home last night?" Rocky yawns, unwrapping his wings from around his mate and sitting up
"No but I don't mind. I'm just glad we both had a good time last night." Ginger feels the top of her head and looks for her hat. She saw the green hat and picked it up, putting it on her head
Rocky got to his feet. "Shall we head back, doll face?"
"Yes darling." Ginger stands up
They walk home to their hut when Jeffrey came over and asked many questions about their date from last night, more so towards Ginger which Rocky picked up on immediately. Did he have a crush on her? It sure seemed like it...
Rocky didn't want to seem rude or start another argument with Ginger later on so he excused himself from the two, parting ways. The American rooster made his way to the main hut. Perhaps listening to some music on the radio will cheer him up. However, someone was already there, two hens to be exact. But not just any hens...they saw Rocky enter the building and approach him since they weren't his main focus
"Hey Rocky."
Rocky was surprised to see two of his ex girlfriends from America standing right in front of him. Chelsea and Melody
"H- hey ladies. What brings you to England?" He nervously smiles
"Well, Melody and I were talking about how I've been wanting to visit since you came back to the farm and she said about accompanying me. It's not easy being away from America." Chelsea explains to her long time crush, looking him in the eyes
"You know, even with a few gray feathers you still look good." Melody laughs
Rocky glances down at his body for a quick second. "Yeah, that's what happens when you get old." He tugs at his bandanna. Why did it feel like a million degrees all of a sudden?
"Can you excuse us?" Chelsea asked the white feathered hen, Melody nodding and leaving the hut
Rocky tensed up at this. What was she going to say to him? This was getting too unbearable for the rooster
"I heard things are a little rough between you and Ginger. How are you holding up? Do I need to talk to her for you?" Chelsea took a step closer
"Uh, fine. Actually, we're on the mend right now. Yep. Don't worry about us." Rocky avoids eye contact, feeling uncomfortable
"Ok good." Chelsea nods
"Dad."
They turn to see Ricky and Rosemary in the doorway. "Can we ask you something?"
"Sure. I'll see you around, Chelsea." Rocky said. He left with the two, thankful that his son showed up and got him out of there
"We walked by and saw you with her and thought you could use some help." Ricky glances at his dad
"I appreciate it." Rocky pats him on the back
"Dad, I need advice though." Ricky admits
"On what?" Rocky asked
"Well, Rosemary wants chicks and I'm not sure if I'm father material." Ricky tells him the problem
"Even though I've told him he'll be a wonderful father." Rosemary chimes in
"I'll be honest, I never imagined myself with chicks of my own but look at me now. It's one of the greatest things I've ever done. Being a parent isn't as bad as you think it is." Rocky said, patting one of his chicks on the head as he walked by
"What if they hate me?" Ricky sighs
"They'll get over it. Don't sweat it, kiddo." Rocky chuckles softly
"See? You'll be fine." Rosemary grabs hold of her mate's wing
"Thanks dad." Ricky said. He gave Rosemary's wing a gentle squeeze before winking at the short hen. "So she actually came to England. I didn't think she'd ever come here since our trip two months ago."
"Yeah, it's a bit of a surprise." Rocky nods
"I'll say. Be careful, pop. I'm not an expert on romance or at least not yet, but I have a funny feeling she's trying to win you back." Ricky glances at the American rooster
"That's ridiculous. She knows I'm with your mother." Rocky shakes his head
"Well, we should go. It was good to see you, Mr. Rhodes. Come on, you big flirt." Rosemary pulls Ricky along in the direction of their hut
"Bye dad!" Ricky calls out over his shoulder. "Remember what I said!"
Rocky sighs to himself and mentally wing palms. Kids. Speaking of kids, one of his chicks was trying to get his attention by jumping around his feet
"Papa!" The chick chirps
"Hey. What are you up to, sweetheart?" Rocky looks down at the little hen
"Momma said to ask you if you can watch me for awhile." She said sweetly, skipping beside him
"Sure. Where is your mother?" Rocky scoops up his daughter in his wings, causing the chick to giggle and move closer
"At the cricket course." Melissa replies
Rocky went to the cricket course to talk to Melissa's mother to let the hen know that her daughter was with him incase she would worry about where the chick wandered off to since it wasn't the first time
"Lacey. Melissa is with me." Rocky called out
"Ok, thank you. I'll come get her after the game." Lacey said
Chelsea just so happened to be nearby and approached her best friend. "Hey Rocky. Is she yours?"
Rocky was caught off guard, flinching slightly and turning to look at her. "Oh, uh yeah. Melissa is one of my chicks. She likes to sneak off though without her mother's permission."
"That's because I wuv you, daddy." Melissa nuzzles into his neck
"She's adorable." Chelsea compliments
"Thanks. Is there anything I can help you with?" Rocky shifts the chick in his wings. He overheard Jeffrey and looks in his direction
"Well, it's just that...we're still together. Aren't we? In a secret relationship?" Chelsea lowers her voice
"Uh, Yeah. At least I think we are." Rocky blushed lightly
"Thank you." Chelsea gives him a quick peck on the cheek
"No problem, Chels." Rocky smiles a little. He made his way over to Jeffrey with Chelsea to see what was going on. The newcomer was at the main hut with some of the hens, including Ginger. He was telling them jokes and the hens loved it
"How do ghosts like their eggs? Terrifried." Jeffrey said, the hens laughing while Ginger just shook her head
"I've got a better one, ladies. How do you make an egg laugh? Tell it a yolk." Rocky speaks up
The hens laughed it up with the roosters jokes, except for Ginger that is. Jeffrey felt a little intimidated by the Rhode Island Red and knew he had to step up his game. Or jokes that is
"Daddy, tell another one." Melissa giggles
"Alright." Rocky chuckles. "What does a rooster use to get up so early in the morning? An alarm cluck."
The hens cracked up yet again but Jeffrey wasn't giving in to Rocky. "Oh yeah? Well what's a chicks favorite game? Beak a boo."
More laughter left the hens and Rocky didn't like it. He especially didn't like it when Jeffrey turned to Ginger to ask her a joke. He definitely knew at this point that Jeffrey had a crush on Ginger and he didn't like it at all
"Hey Ginger. What's a roosters favorite movie?" Jeffrey smiles at the green eyed hen
"You mean besides Chicken Run?" Ginger raised a brow
"Yeah. Besides Chicken Run." Jeffrey nods
"What?" Ginger asked
"That's hentertainment!" Jeffrey laughs, slapping his knee and the other hens join in
Ginger wing palms and shook her head. She couldn't take it anymore. The feisty hen walked up to Rocky and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I'll be home if you need me. Try not to have too much fun." She said before leaving
"Rocky? Do you think maybe we could go for a walk?" Chelsea asked, Rocky holding up a finger
"Can I hear the joke about the henhouse roof?" Jeffrey begins another joke
"No. Because it's over your head." Rocky replies, the hut filling with a few laughs and clapping. Jeffrey narrows his eyes slightly. Clever move
Rocky went outside with Chelsea and puts down Melissa. "Alright. I think it's time for you to go back to your mother." He smiles at his little girl
"Bye daddy. See you tomorrow." Melissa hugs his legs before running off
Rocky and Chelsea went on a walk, catching up on what has happened lately and even bringing up a few things from their chickhood and teenage years. Chelsea leaned against Rocky since no one was around to see them. "I missed you."
"Did you now? I would never have guessed." Rocky chuckles softly
"Do you think that maybe you could try to visit sometime? By yourself?" Chelsea glances up at him
"If I'm not too busy." Rocky makes eye contact with Chelsea
"Fair enough." Chelsea takes hold of his wing. "I've been meaning to ask you if you're ok with me adopting a chick."
"For real?" Rocky was a little surprised at this
"Yes. I wanted to get your opinion on it before I go and do it first." Chelsea said
"I don't have a problem with it." Rocky strokes his thumb over her wing clutched in his
Oooh snap. Things are getting real, folks xD it's game on between Rocky and Jeffrey. until the next chapter
