Hermione ran into him slamming her full body into his. She hugged him for all she had, she had made the biggest mistake of her life choosing Weasley over him and she just prayed that it wasn't too late.
Harry took the beaded bag that had been with them throughout the Horcrux hunt which he knew she probably had her whole life in. Taking her into the kitchen and siting her down his new elf Jobkey set about making a pot of tea and coffee for the table along with a selection of biscuits.
Harry could tell that Hermione wasn't right as she didn't shout at him for having an elf, looking at her, she was staring at her hands that were in her lap obviously trying to figure out what to say to him. He was still pissed at her, for abandoning him.
"Harry, I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened between us and now.. now… now its all gone wrong".
"I can tell you what happened. You chose the jealous layabout as your boyfriend and completely cut me out of everything".
Hermione looked like she had been slapped in the face, what made it worse was that he was right. She had chosen Ron over Harry not only romantically but as everything else as well. She was about to respond to him when he beat her to it.
"So, what has he done this time then?"
Hermione burst into tears remembering the conversation that she overheard. Harry made himself busy by pouring them both a cup of tea. Every time she went to speak, a fresh wave of emotion hit her bring in more tears.
Pissed at her or not he hated seeing her like this so decided bed would be the best option. Looking at the clock, Harry suggested that they retire for the night and then night and have a chat tomorrow morning. Giving a teary nod Harry lead Hermione up to the guest room, Harry had decorated it in royal blue and gold. It had a four poster bed with an en-suit shower room next to the built in wardrobe.
"The house has changed a lot since you were last here, the wards especially. You won't be able to enter some of the rooms, as they are protected by blood wards that will only allow my blood in. The library is one of them. The dark books Molly threw away were all saved by Kreacher it is one of the most dangerous collections of books in the world. If you need anything just call Jobkey".
With that Harry pulled the door closed and headed to his own room on the third floor. Harrys room was the whole top floor done in red and gold with creams thrown in, so it wasn't an exact replica of the Gryffindor common room. As he entered his room Jobkey popped in and reminded him that wards were still lowered which changed with a thought. The wards snapped back up meaning he was safe to go to bed.
Just as he settled into bed and was drifting of to sleep, it was like groundhog day his eyes closed someone fired a spell at the wards. Deciding he couldn't be bothered to get out of bed again he asked Jobkey to see who it was and get rid of them whoever it was.
Daphne Greengrass was not a happy lady. She was the ice queen of Hogwarts, and most importantly she got what she wanted, Potter was the top of her list. She was sexy she knew she was and given an evening with Potter she could show him a new world. As her mother said the best way to a man is through his cock not his stomach.
Now he wasn't even coming to the door for her anymore having the cheek to send an elf to get rid of her. However, her plan was in motion. A letter with a plea for help. All her research had shown that the hero complex that he had was real. So, fabricating a story where her family had learned of her interest in Harry and were kicking her out of the family was communicated in the letter. The meeting was to happen in a private place, as to protect her from any more issues with her family. She had booked a private room above the leaky cauldron which had a secret adjoining room to a bedroom that she had booked for the night, if everything went the way she wanted all she had to do was wait 3 days.
The elf left the note on the kitchen worktop knowing that her master always enters this room first once he has woken up. However, this morning was different, Harry woke, and made a beeline straight for Hermiones room. Knocking on the door Harry heard frantic movements from the other side before she calmly said that he could come in.
"would you care for breakfast in the garden, the weather is nice and warm for this time of year and I thought that it would be better to have a chat out in the open".
With a small nod of her head he led her through the drawing room to doors that were not their last time she was here. He had obviously used some space expansion charms out here as there was a large green garden laid mainly to lawn but with a beautiful boarder that had all muggle plants in like rose bushes and honeysuckle.
At the end of the garden was a small pagoda with two chairs around a little cast iron table, it looked beautiful and if this was a date it would be amazing. This wasn't a date though and she knew that she had some serious grovelling to do just to get back into Harrys good books never mind the possibility of a relationship.
The table had some pastries on with tea and coffee in pots just like last night. They say to rip of the plaster quickly, and last night while she was tossing and turning in the most comfortable bed she had ever slept in she decided to do just that.
After they had both built their meals and poured their drinks in silence Harry just looked at her, she wasn't sure, but she had a feeling that this was her chance. Her one and only chance to make things right.
"So, in case you haven't noticed I have been the worse friend in the world to you. if you still call me a friend" she said with a hesitant smile. Seeing that wasn't returned in anyway her gaze dropped to her hands.
"I chose him over you, in every way until I cut you out of my life. I didn't even write to you. Me! The person is always nagging you to write to me".
"I Just didn't know what to say, I knew that you had feelings for me and to be honest I had them for you. have them for you I meant have them for you".
"But it's my fault, I didn't see me, plain old Hermione Granger living life with Harry Potter. The Harry Potter, the Man-Who-Won. I'm just a Muggleborn know it all how could I have completed with all the girls of these families that can trace their magic back to merlin himself".
Her eyes flicked to meet Harrys here she saw anger, thinking this was getting worse she continued on trying to get him to forgive her.
"I can see that you are angry about me cutting you out and not writing but I hope that I will be able to forgive me".
A very uneasy silence washed over the two, Harry much to Hermiones surprise was the first to break it.
"I'm not angry about the letters I can forgive you for them. But you thought that you were not good enough for me. You didn't even speak to me, you knew I had feelings and then left without a word. I thought you hated me, I thought I was an idiot".
"I'm not sure if I can forgive you for that it will take time. It may never happen. You can stay here for as long as you want and there is gold in the kitchen help yourself".
With that Harry pushed his chair back and walked away. Hermiones eyes following him all the way to the house before she let out a sob.
