The Champion Chronicles

By: Wolf's Honour

Summary: An invitation sets Ash and his trusted Pikachu on a course to the world-class Valley of Champions Conference, a tournament where hundreds of the world's best trainers compete for eternal glory. Can he overcome the competition and win the title of "Pokemon Master" or be cast aside?

Hey there everyone. So I got a lot of people thinking that this fic is dead and out of the works. Thinking that I hung everyone's OCs to dry and that I lied to them thinking I wasn't going to finish the first chapter.

Well let me just say that all those accusations… are false.

I'll admit that I haven't been exactly working on TCC for a while, since if you follow me as a writer I've been working primarily on Transcending Bonds and Digital Redemption: Sasuke's Awakening. However, I did make extensive notes here and there regarding everyone's OCs and spent a lot of time researching Pokemon battles of other fanfictions and the anime in general so I could make really detailed battles and also get a grasp of all of your OC's Pokemon and their abilities. I have been focusing on work and school but I am here to tell you that TCC…

IS. NOT. DEAD.

I am in the works of Chapter One write now since I was having a hard time finding a way to start off my fic, but I WILL give you guys a taste of what is to come in my story. The battles that you are about to see are open to change and these battles are only practice bouts for me and are in way final. I take extreme consideration of all OC's personalities, their Pokemon and their battling styles when writing these battles and to those who believe there OC is on the losing end, let me just say again that nothing here is FINAL.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon.

"Welcome one and all to the 13th inaugural Valley of Champion's Conference" voiced a woman in her early twenties. Her voice was elegant, as was her style of attire – a white shoulderless dress that went past her mid thigh, wearing slim, black pantyhose. Her hair was blonde and beautifully straight and her smile glowed as she once again spoke inside the mic. "Today is the beginning of the Preliminaries of the tournament, and what a gorgeous day to have a Pokemon battle, especially here in Stadium Twelve!"

"I'm your commentator, Alisa Debois, and I'll be providing you viewers around the world with live coverage of our first day of preliminary match-ups," she continued, before looking over her lap-top that brought her a feed about the Pokemon trainers who would be battling it out first. "Today we're gonna have a battle of first-years! That's right everyone, both of the Trainers on display for our next battle are first-years to this Pokemon World Tournament!"

Another chorus of roars arose from the stands, a modestly-sized crowd having gathered to watch the battle. Content with the reaction, Alisa went on, her enthusiasm driving itself forward. "Without further ado, let us give a warm welcome to the Trainers who will be battling for us today! In the Blue corner, straight from the Johto Region, for the very first time at the Valley of Champions, I give you Vann Silverback of Violet City!"

Hearing his name through the muting steel door in front of him, Vann kissed his Charizard pendant before running out as the door slid aside, revealing the battlefield before them as it was bathed in sunlight. Waving wildly to the crowd, he made his way towards the centre circle. "Thanks everyone! You're all about to see something amazing today, for I plan to win all six of my Preliminary matches!"

"A bold and confident statement from the fiery Vann, ladies and gentlemen," said Alisa, clapping her hands together as the crowd went ecstatic. "Although he has been in the Top 16 of every regional league and Top 15 in last year's Shanghai International Tournament, can he back up those bold declarations in the face of such seasoned competition?" She then moved on with her introductions. "And now, in the Red Corner, straight out of the Kanto Region, is Evelyn Hughes of Pallet Town!"

As the door slide open on the other end of the stadium, a brunette came calmly walking out onto the field. Her cobalt blue eyes shining brilliantly in the sun light with a smile to boot. She wore a white long sleeve shirt with skinny light blue jeans, and black and pink high top sneakers. Black fingerless gloves adorn her hands and she wore a white hat with a pink Poké Ball ion on it that covered the top of her head.

"Evelyn Hughes made a surprise appearance in her first Pokemon League competition, making it to the Top 8 in the Indigo Plateau Conference! Not to mention she too has been in the Top 16 of every league she has participated in as well! Her battling style and reputation as a fierce opponent by her past opposition makes her one to be feared and favoured in this year's tournament!"

As Vann's opponent finally joined him in the centre circle, he extended a gloved hand. "Hey there, shawty! Lets have a good battle!"

Evelyn smiled at the young man before grasping his hand with her own. "You can call me Evelyn and I wish you the best of luck." she replied, and as quick as she had shook it she let go and returned back to her side of the field. Vann stared at her back for a lingering moment before smirking and returning to his side as well.

"Now with the exchange of greetings done, we shall now take a look on the Jumbotron to see who will have the first move," Alisa said, and a instant later the crowd's attention was on the massive screen, seeing a small circles with their faces on parallel of each other and highlighted in their corner's color. The light turned on and began to spin quickly before slowly dying down and coming to a full stop on Evelyn's face. "And Evelyn will have the first move!"

As if on cue, a referee appeared on the side of the field and announced. "With Evelyn making the first move, both Trainers are under the understanding and accordance of the Pokemon International Battle Federation rules and that both trainers are permitted to use only two Pokemon. The moment one Trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle, the victor shall receive one point and both trainer's continue in the preliminaries. In the event of a tie, both trainer's shall receive half a point and continue in the preliminaries. Breaches will result in penalization; further breaches warrant disqualification. Do both Trainers understand?"

"Yes/No doubt!" Both Evelyn and Vann said in unison respectively.

"Then let the battle commence!"

Evelyn's smile dropped the moment the referee said those words, her facing now brimming with focus and seriousness. "Sorry Vann, but I don't attend to lose to you."

She pulled her hand to her belt and grasped a single Poke Ball before hurling it high in the air. "It's ass kicking time, Cassie!" The Poke Ball split open with a flash of white, and the form of a Breloom appeared on the field, its legs immediately going wild as it danced around on the field.

"And Evelyn decided to start off her first-year preliminary match with a Breloom, and a rather powerful one by the looks of it!" announced Alisa excitedly. "Not an unexpected choice, considering that she has started each of her first-year runs with that Breloom! Now what will Vann choose to counter his opponent's Pokemon?"

Vann smirked as he watched in admiration to the dancing Breloom. "Wow! I gotta find out where that Breloom learned those moves! It could definitely help with my choreography in my dance contest!"

Evelyn was not amused. "Although I enjoy the sight of you admiring Cassie, I'd rather you hurried up and chose your Pokemon! I have a battle to win!"

Vann smirk didn't fade as he reeled a hand back and reached for a poke ball. "Yeah I can do that after I win the match! Let's burn it up out there, Slyther!"

Tossed onto the battlefield, the small red ball split open, a brilliant white light escaping and taking form on the field. Once the light died down, a large and long purple snake Pokemon stood, its eyes glowing menacingly at the Breloom. "Charrbok!"

"And Vann has chosen an Arbok, a wise choice on his part!" Alisa commented in approval of Vann's choice. "Arbok is a poison-type Pokemon, thus giving him a type, as well as a height, advantage over his grass-type opponent!"

Evelyn wasted no time in making the first move. "Cassie, use Mach Punch!"

Its hand glowing, the Breloom went surging forward towards Slyther.

"Smack her away with Iron Tail, Slyther!" Vann commanded.

"Charr Bokk!" Slyther wasted no time, gathering energy in his body's tail before whipping it around as fast as lightning at the Breloom. Cassie's Mach Punch collided with the Iron Tail, both Pokemon seeming evenly matched before Slyther sent the Breloom flying backwards.

"Nice work Slyther!" Vann praised, feeling the adrenaline rushing in his body. "Follow it up with Pin Missile!"

"Charr!" Opening its mouth, the Arbok unleashed a barrage of light needles towards Evelyn's Pokemon.

"Cassie, counter it with Energy Ball!" On command, the Breloom shot off a giant ball of green energy at the incoming Pin Missile. Both attacks collided and a moment later exploded in a large gust of smoke.

"Damnit I can't see a thing in there," Evelyn cursed.

The cloud of dust and smoke began to die down and Evelyn and her Breloom stared wide-eyed when Vann's Arbok was no where to be found.

"Wait where did he go?"

"Now, Slyther!" Vann shouted.

On cue, Slyther emerged from the ground behind Breloom and immediately wrapped itself around Evelyn's Pokemon. Its large body began squeezing the life out of the Breloom, who screeched in pain.

"Excellent use of terrain made on Vann's part!" Alisa yelled in her mic. "Using the aftershock of the explosion for cover, he had his Arbok dig beneath the ground and waited for the right moment to strike!"

Vann smirked before raising his hand. "Now Slyther, finish this with Poison Fang!"

"Quick Cassie, get away from that Arbok!" Evelyn yelled in vain.

Slyther opened its large mouth, its fangs glowing dark purple before they came down on the Breloom. The mushroom Pokemon howled in pain as the fangs pierced her, and almost immediately she could feel the effects of the poison coursing inside her.

"This is rather tortuous to watch, ladies and gents," Alisa said grimly. "Taking advantage of the fact Breloom is still a grass-type, Vann lets loose his Arbok's powerful Poison Fang and it seems that it is too much for Breloom to handle."

"Cassie!" Evelyn shouted in concern for her Pokemon.

Eventually Breloom's painful howl died down and Slyther took his fangs out of the Pokemon, leaving two small looking holes parallel of each other in its neck before releasing it from its constriction. Almost immediately Breloom fell hard and face first in the ground, its eyes in swirls.

"Breloom is unable to battle," the referee announced before raising the red flag in his left hand. "The victory goes to Vann and his Arbok!"

The crowd roared in approval.

Vann grinned wildly at Slyther. "Good job, Slyther. One more and it's a wrap!"

"Charr!" Slyther glanced to his trainer and nodded in agreement.

"Cassie return." Evelyn commanded after bringing out her Breloom's Poke Ball, watching as she was engulfed in red light and returned to the ball. The runner up of last year's Lily of the Valley Conference looked upon Cassie's ball for a brief moment before minimizing the ball and retuning her focus to the battle at hand. Her cobalt blue eyes narrowed down on Vann.

"It seems I've underestimated you," Evelyn admitted loud enough for Vann to hear, taking hold of her other Poke Ball. "But you haven't won this by a long shot."

Vann looked at Evelyn. "Whatever you say shawty."

Evelyn's cheeks tinted red in both embarrassment and anger, her free hand curling into a tight fist at her side. "I told you my name is Evelyn!"

"Then how bout I call you beautiful instead than?"

"That's it!" Evelyn threw her Poke Ball out. "Time to pulverize him Scarlet!"

Tossed onto the battlefield, Evelyn's ball split open, a brilliant white light escaping and taking form on the field, revealing a very powerful Pokemon that stood on two legs, fire erupting from around its neck. "Tyysionnn!"

"And things are heating up out here as Evelyn has now chosen a Typhlosion to take the field, and it appears more than ready to take on Vann's Arbok!" Alisa commented, her enthusiasm met by the crowd that roared for the battle to continue.

Vann eyes widened slightly, admiring the sight of Evelyn's Pokemon. "So you got a Typhlosion too, huh? She looks really powerful."

"Of course she looks powerful," Evelyn retorted with a smirk, adjusting her bonnie slightly. "I train and take care of all of my Pokemon to be at their peak. Scarlet is no exception."

Her Typhlosion growled out a breath of flame in agreement.

"Their peak, huh," Vann smirked, eyes burning brightly at the obvious challenge presented before him. "Let's see about that!"

Unlike anything seen before, these two participants and their Pokemon had been battling each other to their breaking points, refusing to back down even though the situation would gradually change for better or worse for both of them.

Ash had never felt more thrilled or challenged before in his life and he was positive that his opponent, Raina Song, felt the same way. Even after he and Sceptile had defeated her fifth Pokemon, she still had one left, and would thus make this the final bout in their match.

And remembering her last battle, he was sure on what Pokemon she would use next.

"Come on out, Blaziken!" Raina Song said with a calm demeanor even as she was brought to her last Pokemon, hurling her poke ball up into the air as it released her closest, as well as strongest, Pokemon.

"And it appears that at last we see Raina's final Pokemon, her Blaziken!" The female commenter voiced with an icon of Blaziken appearing in Raina's last empty slot on the jumbotron screen above the stands. "We know well that the last we saw her Blaziken, it had tore its way through three Pokemon of Raina's last opponent, Xavier Carver, bringing her a 6-2 win! Can Ash and his Sceptile hold there ground against such a powerful Pokemon, as well as its type advantage?"

'So it is her Blaziken after all.' Ash grimaced, even though he had suspected it would be her Blaziken.

"Blaziken, close in on Sceptile with Fire Punch and Sky Uppercut !" he heard Raina order her Pokemon.

Blaziken immediately obeyed her command, jumping across the field with quick agility and precision while flames covered his left claw. It was a mere yard away from Sceptile.

"Quick Sceptile dodge and counter with Leaf Blade!" Ash commanded.

Sceptile responded, extending his right arm out to his side, the longs leaves hanging off the arms glowing together into one sharply green blade. The second that Blaziken was inches away from him, throwing his arm up to connect with his head, Sceptile moved. He watched the flare-coved claw fly past his face before seeing his opening and taking it, hurling his arm out horizontally and landing his Leaf Blade into Blaziken's side and beyond.

"An impressive counter made by Sceptile." The commenter said in surprise by it herself. "Even with a type disadvantage, Ash and his Sceptile have landed the first blow and dealt Blaziken a powerful Leaf Blade. It appears to have been a critical one, ladies and gents!"

Blaziken cawed out in pain and moved back to recover. Ash saw Raina's smirk fall as she realized that Blaziken had suffered a critical hit to the rib cage. "Blaziken are you okay?"

Blaziken took his stance once more, the fire from his wrist sprouting with vigor. "Blaze!"

"Stay on the attack, Sceptile!"

"Tile!" The Forest Pokemon continued the attack, advancing on Blaziken with multiple vertical and horizontal swings from his Leaf Blades. Blaziken avoided the blows as much as possible, unaware that he was being pushed towards a wall behind him.

"It appears that Blaziken has been pushed to a corner," the commentator stated.

"Blaziken, use the wall to jump over Sceptile!" Raina commanded.

Blaziken looked over his shoulder for a split moment to see the approximate distance of the wall before returning focus on the advancing Sceptile. He avoided another vertical slash of the Pokemon's Leaf Blade before jumping back towards the wall. He pressed his legs up against the wall and in a single motion jumped high up over Sceptile's head, twirling in the air before landing near his trainer.

"Blaziken!"

Sceptile turned around and snarled, believing that he had had him.

Ash saw the fire in Sceptile's eyes. "Don't lose focus, Sceptile! Use Leaf Storm!"

Sceptile nodded, focusing his energy on his attack and whipping his glowing pine tree shaped tail out, sending a tornado of brightly lit leaves towards Blaziken.

Raina retaliated. "Blast them away with Flamethrower!"

"Blazikenn!" The Hoenn starter Pokemon reared its head back, gathering its energy for the briefest of moments before releasing a powerful blast of flames towards the incoming Leaf Storm. The attacks collided, followed by an impressive but small explosion as the attacks seemingly canceled each other out, creating a wall of smoke that covered Ash's view of his opponent's side of the field.

"It appears we have a smokescreen on our hands, people," the commenter stated over the live speakers and radio.

Ash eye's widened as realization hit him. "Sceptile, stay alert and-"

"Quick Attack with Close Combat now, Blaziken!"

His order cut short as Blaziken dived through the smokescreen at a speed that rivaled Sceptile's and charged for the Forest Pokemon, both his claws up and ready to strike. Sceptile dodged the incoming barrage of punches and kicks, trying his best not to be struck by any of Blaziken's attacks. Blaziken swept Sceptile from beneath its feet with a powerful low kick and followed it up with an equally powerful kick directly into his abdomen, sending the Pokemon back and rolling a short distance across the hard ground of the field.

"Sceptile!"

Sceptile was struggling to get back on his feet, the effects of the powerful kick still reeling. "Scep…tilllle."

Raina didn't let up. "Now use Overheat, point-blank!"

"BLAZE!" Blaziken wasted no time, jumping up to the recovering Sceptile and spewed out a powerful and smooth Overheat attack that seemed to spiral rapidly before impacting against Sceptile. The Forest Pokemon cried out in agony as the force of the blast sent him flying into the hard cement wall followed by a blast of smoke.

"Sceptile no!" Ash cried out, desperation and fear with in his eyes as he watched the cloud of smoke cover his Pokemon, unable to tell if he was alright.

"Once again we've seen an impressive display of power from Raina Song's Blaziken," the commenter stated, excitement laced in her tone from what she was seeing. "Not wasting a second, her Blaziken followed up its powerful Close Combat with an even more powerful Overheat attack at point-blank range! Adding that to the fact that Sceptile is a Grass-type, it appears that this match may be over!"

Author's Notes: There you have it. Two battles with OCs Evelyn Hughes from Gentle Blossom, Raina Song from WingsofRain and my very own Vann Silverback. I'm still playing around with everyone else's OC and adding them to the overall plot that I have finally created for this fic but we're getting somewhere people.

In fact, as a promise to all of you and to myself, I will spit out the First Chapter by August 24, on my baby brother's birthday. All of you who have patiently been waiting for me to continue this fanfiction, thank you. I will repay that patience with a grand tournament fic of epic proportions.

However, I realize that I may still need a few more OC's as well so please follow my OC sheet. And if I can find a Beta-Reader for this, I'll greatly appreciate that. I will need a little help to make sure I captured everyone's OCs so please if you are willing to help, send me a PM.
