SeeU gazed at the Host Club, her eyes widening. Wait – what? Wasn't this the music room? One – SeeU's brain identified him as Suoh Tamaki, the son of the academy's chairman, and the official leader of the Host Club, approached them, a wide grin plastered on his face. Tianyi had gone stock-still, and Mayu had stopped putting on makeup. "Uh – isn't this the music room?" Her voice sounded small inside the large room.
Tamaki waved his hand dismissively. "Yes, but the Host Club is occupying it. So, what brings you here today?" He swept down with a grand flourish of his arms, and kissed the back of her hand. SeeU watched him, and then swiftly pulled her hand away.
A band of other Host Club members were in separate parts of the room, along with a parade of giggling girls. Nope, SeeU thought, this is definitely not where we want to be. "Um, well, sorry, it seems like we went to the wrong room…"
Tamaki Suoh cut her off, slinging his arm over her shoulder. Why did humans do this gesture? SeeU took a mental note. Was it a sign of affection? No, this Tamaki didn't even know her name. Besides, according to the various tapes she had downloaded from the security cameras into her brain, Tamaki Suoh was in a relationship with Fujioka Haruhi, the girl who was wearing the boy's uniform.
She gently pushed him. "No, I already said –" He again put his arm on her shoulder.
"C'mon, you have got to be here for a reason," He cooed. Suddenly, a short growl interrupted him, and all at once Mayu held the axe at his throat, her pupils dilated. Mayu moved her position on the axe so only those nearby could see it. "Don't – touch – her. She doesn't like it. So stop." Her voice was quiet, but it racked in superiority. Mayu narrowed her eyes and threatened to press the blade closer, until Tamaki let go of her shoulder.
SeeU turned around, horrified. It was a good thing that Mayu was so worried about her, but what if they reported this to the chairman? Worse still, this was the chairman's son. Grabbing Mayu's shoulder, she muttered a quick 'sorry' to Tamaki Suoh, and whispered to Tianyi (Who was gaping at Mayu and SeeU both), "Please clean this up for us!" and ushered Mayu out of the room.
She slammed the door closed, and some emotion called anger bubbled up within her. Anger was an easy emotion to learn. "Mayu! How could you… you… he's the chairman's son!"
Mayu huffed, and then she smiled sweetly. "But you didn't like it when he did that. I was just making sure you were safe."
SeeU snorted. "Safe, my ass! Seriously Mayu, we can't afford to mess up now. The media will be in chaos!" Mayu pouted, but didn't say anything. She stuck her axe back into the schoolbag, and brought out her stuffed bunny. She lifted her lips to it, and said, "But you're safe~" The microphone on the top had been adjusted earlier apparently, and Mayu's lilting voice came out as a loud whisper. SeeU shook her head, just as the Vocaloid Tone Rion came bouncing up the stairs, humming to herself.
Tone Rion waved energetically when she spotted the Vocaloid duo. "Hey~ Mayu, SeeU~ did you – why do you look so sullen?" She tilted her head to the side, pondering, staring at SeeU's face.
The Korean Vocaloid snorted. "Rion – no, Rikka, - Mayu decided to pull out her axe on Tamaki Suoh."
Tone Rion's face became unreadable for a second, and SeeU was sure she was searching the Ouran Databanks. Then she gasped, and said, "You attacked the son of the chairman?"
Mayu seemed undaunted by Tone Rion's shocked reaction, and merely gave her a placid smile. "Yep~" She cheerfully swatted at a runaway fly. Tone Rion shook her head, amazed. "Where is Tianyi-chan?"
"I left her in there to apologize to the Host Club," SeeU said simplistically. She shoved her hand into her schoolbag as the sound of the bell chimed throughout the building, signifying a warning to go to class. "Whoops! We gotta go!"
Tone Rion narrowed her pert eyes. "Hm… Mayu-mi, don't you have music class next? I can go with you,"
Mayu nodded sweetly. "Okay. See you later, SeeU!" She waved, lowering one finger at a time, and followed Rion down the corridor, leaving the Vocaloid alone to contemplate the events. SeeU shook her head with frustration as Tianyi rounded the corner, unmistakably red. "SeeU… Let's go to science, now," Her voice was strained for a moment, something SeeU's keen ears picked up on, but it disappeared within seconds. SeeU nodded and they headed down the stairs.
Mayu characteristically smiled gently at everyone who passed by, and they gave her light smiles, too. As it turned out, fellow Vocaloids Avanna and CUL were in her class as well, disguised as Ayako and Kouko. It didn't bother Mayu. She was sweet to them, although Avanna was a little wary. Mayu didn't understand why, but some people seemed to have their own opinions, she thought.
The teacher, a clumsy woman her databanks confirmed named 'Run Tachibana'. Although the woman was great at playing the piano and flute, she was hopeless at everything else. Ms. Tachibana kept tripping over books, feet, nothing, and instruments. Although Mayu really didn't need to take a music course, she had decided previously that she would observe the efforts of the other students. So far, she wasn't getting much.
The only ones who played perfectly were of course, her, CUL and Avanna, because they were robots. Robots played everything perfectly, but recently, a chip called the 'O.F. Chip' was installed into their system, otherwise known as the 'organized faulty chip', and it caused the Vocaloids to make human mistakes, mistakes that a human would normally make.
CUL's violin sound slightly twanged in when she played the F sharp, and CUL made a face. Not normally detected by human ears, the mistake went unnoticed by most. To CUL, however, it was the most irritating noise yet. Because of this close-knit feature, the Vocaloids were called 'perfectionists' more than once.
Tone Rion sniffed disdainfully when she hit an entirely different note from the one required to play the piece. Normally, the Vocaloids were programmed to hit the note accurately and acutely, but the O.F. Chip was really doing its job.
Ms. Tachibana waved her hands merrily in the air. "Yoohoo~ my students! Let's play some music now, shall we?" She clumsily banged on the xylophone next to her, creating a loud array of various sounds. Avanna winced at the noise, as her hearing (Being an American Vocaloid) had been modified to hear slightly better than the rest of them.
CUL braced herself as Ms. Tachibana played a horrible imitation of 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' on the xylophone. A student yelled, "Go back to playing the piano, Tachibana-sensei,"
She made a face before going back to her piano reluctantly. Mayu blew a few more notes on her clarinet, and soon the bell rang. "Boo~~~" Ms. Tachibana whined as the students hurried to file out of the room. Mayu slid out of the room, smiling.
This had certainly been an interesting day, she mused.
It looks like I finally finished chapter 2's update. I have to say it's a big improvement. Who knows what I had in mind in 2012. By the way guys, Happy New Year's Eve! Yes, I updated this on the thirty-first of December.
Well, keep in tune! I'm sorry and I apologize for the lack of updates, but I'm trying to rewrite every chapter, while writing chapter 8. Thanks to everybody who favorited/followed this sloth story! I promise I'll try to update chapter 3 and finish 8 before my winter break is over. I've had slow net connection these past few days.
