After Dean's initial freakout, the Winchesters tried to decide what to do next. Sam pulled his laptop out and opened it on the small table in their motel room. He sat in the chair and immediately jumped back up.
"Why do you insist on not wearing pants to bed?" he grumbled at Dean as he dug out a pair of somewhat clean jeans.
"Freedom, my friend," Dean responded absentmindedly. He was in the bathroom, studying his (Sam's) face. "Hey, did you know that if you grew a beard, you would look like Jesus?"
Sam chose to ignore Dean. He returned to the computer at the table, silently willing it to warm up faster. The motel's wifi was stronger than most he had used before, yet it still moved at a painstaking pace, and only served to make him irritated. Finally, the computer was on. He flipped through all of their notes, searching for a link between all the previous victims. There had to be something that connected each of the deaths.
"What would you do if I cut your hair off?" Dean's question interrupted Sam's train of thought.
"What?" he asked, having hardly heard what his older brother said.
"Dude, it's so long," Dean continued. In the bathroom, he was pulling Sam's bangs down in front of his eyes. "I don't understand why you don't keep it up all the time, or just cut it off."
Standing up, Sam walked over to stand in the entrance of the bathroom. It was unsettling to have to look up at himself making faces he usually saw on Dean's face. His brother held up a lock of Sam's hair, studying it in the mirror closely.
"Dean, knock it off, leave it alone," Sam snapped, reaching up (up? That was so wrong) and pulling Dean's arm down. "Come on, we need to figure this out!"
Dean rolled his eyes but followed Sam out of the bathroom. He laughed, causing Sam to turn around.
"I'm finally taller than you, Sammy," Dean grinned. "All is right with the world, we don't need to fix this!"
It was Sam's turn to roll his eyes.
"Come on, man, be serious," he said, crossing the room to Dean's bag of clothes. He began digging through, but Dean raced over and pulled the bag away from him.
"You don't just go through a man's personal belongings!" Dean said. Instead, he dug through the bag while Sam stood, hands on his hips, watching what looked like himself picking out clothes for him. Dean ended up simply throwing a plaid shirt on the bed and zipping up the bag.
"You've already got the shirt and the jeans on," he pointed out before moving over to Sam's bag.
When they were finally dressed, they packed all of their belongings to prevent any possible thieves from stealing their more valuable items. After locking up the room, they crossed the parking lot toward the Impala. Sam had discovered the keys in Dean's jeans pocket, choosing to remain quiet about finding them. He jogged ahead of his brother to the driver's door.
"Hey, what the-?" Dean exclaimed.
"Technically I'm you now, so I get to drive," Sam said, attempting to prevent a wide smile from appearing on his face. He unlocked the car and ducked inside. He nearly fell over, having ducked much lower than his brother's body needed, the momentum nearly throwing him across the seat. Sam managed to catch himself before he looked too ridiculous and tossed his bag into the back seat.
Dean trudged around the front of the car to the passenger seat, grumbling under his breath about stupid little brothers and how unfair it was. He opened the door and pulled himself into the car. Suddenly, a searing pain spread from the left side of his head, causing him to double over, hanging halfway out of the car, clinging to the spot the pain was coming from. After a moment's recovery, he could hear laughter from inside of the car. He sat up, being extra careful this time about where his head was, finally sitting fully inside the vehicle and shutting the door a little more violently than he usually would have.
"Screw you, you freaking tall monster," Dean snapped at his younger brother.
Sam started the Impala and pulled it out of the parking lot, still chuckling to himself. He definitely wanted to be back inside his own body, but maybe it wouldn't be so bad for right now.
A/N: Hey everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for reading this! I'm pretty new to this site, but I've been writing fanfiction for years. I would absolutely love any helpful comments/criticism! I'm kind of struggling with where I want to go with this, mainly the filler chapters (not necessarily filler, just the middle of the story), so any plot suggestions would be great! Thank you!
