Ch. 1.2: Frontier Lessons

Ash rushed, getting his clothes on, Pikachu staring fascinatingly at his trainer's rush, before he grabbed his trainer's hat, which resulted in his trainer taking hat with a grin, "Thank you buddy. (Kachu!)" As he rushed down stairs, finding his mother cooking a meal, Ash asked, "Mom, what are you doing up?"

Delia looked at her son skeptically, "I honestly don't expect you to go to Saffron City on an empty stomach? So I'm making your meal before you go."

Ash nodded, Pikachu copying the motion, "Thank you, Mom!"

Stopping by the Prof. Oak's Lab, Ash called out, "Hey Professor!"

The old man looked up to the open door, "Hello, Ash, good to see you my boy, what brings you here?"

He explained, "I'm going traveling, I was wondering if I could take some of my Pokémon with me before I go?"

Oak nodded, "Of course, they're your Pokémon, just make sure to check in with me & regularly switch them out, you don't want them to get to weak without any training. Understood?"

Ash nodded, "Yes sir." Before he ran to the door.

Ash nodded to Pikachu, who jumped to the floor, releasing a blast of lightning, causing all Pokémon of Ash's to see it & rush to the area, after all of them got to the area, Ash spoke up, "Hey, I'm going to Saffron City, and maybe traveling around the regions we know. I'll be rotating you all around, so don't worry..." as he stared at some of his Pokémon, before he went to grab their Pokéballs, as he spoke, "I'll be taking Ninetales, Gible, Buizel, Cubone, Mienfoo & Flygon, okay, I'll rotate when I call the Professor, okay guys?" His Pokémon nodded, though some were saddened, they got over it.

With Pikachu on his shoulder, as he was hugged by his Mother, Ash whined, "Mom, I'll stopping by ever now & then, or call, your gonna kill me, if you crush me any further!"

Delia responded, "I know, it's just I worry that something bad may happen to you. Remember to take things easy you aren't on a journey, you still don't have to push yourself. & make sure to take care of yourself & your Pokémon (Yes mom, I'm not a kid anymore!) I know, now go make Pallet town proud. (I will!) & don't forget to change your underwear! (MOM!)" ash waved one last time to Professor Oak, before sending out Flygon, the Dragonfly roared, before he took to the sky with Ash, before Ash yelled, "Now! To Saffron!" Flygon roared, before launching like a bullet, leaving a wake of dust around in it's wake.

Delia sighed, "Good luck." Hoping her son found a calling.

As the dragonfly flew through the air, shifting easily to wind changes, Ash called, "Hey Flygon! (Gon?) remember how we met?" Flygon nodded his head in response, remembering the strange day it met Ash.

Flashback

Ash & Pikachu were finally on the road again, that's when Pikachu jumpe off at the last second, as Ash tripped on a something, followed by a yelp of a Pokémon, as he got back up, he looked behind himself, finding a Trapinch under his foot, before the Trapinch lunged, before getting knocked over by Pikachu's Quick Attack, before it got ready to attack, & to Ash & Pikachu's shock, it lunged forward in a burst of speed, water splashing around it, before Ash called, "Pikachu! Agility! Then Thunderbolt!" His mouse nodded, before disappearing, before he appeared behind Trapinch, striking with the lightning, Trapinch flinched, before he slowly started moving, feeling pain, before he roared, using Superpower, striking Pikachu, before he collapsed, his muscles going against him & locking up, Ash took this chance, before throwing the only ball that wasn't in his bag, a Friend Ball, capturing the beast of a Pokémon.

It shook once...

Twice...

Three times...

Then the soft ping, signifying capture. Reaching out for it, Ash held it up, "Yes! We did it, our very first Pokémon! (Pika!)"

That was the first time he came across a Delta Species, or rather a Pokémon who possessed a slight type change & shift of moves, the Trapinch was strong, he actually learned the Pokémon was released by a trainer who wasn't impressed with it, the funny part was, Trapinch's rare typing made him even harder to beat, combine his original move pool it's the few moves he learn do to the unique typing, he was slightly stronger, knowing the moves; Aqua Jet, Hydro Pump & Ice Beam. Flygon stayed as one of his strongest partners, coming to his aid & prove capable enough to match Entei before Charizard's arrival.

The Flygon roared, as it landed on the concrete floor of Saffron, in front of the Pokémon Center, Ash thanked the Delta Dragon, before recalling him, he heard a greeting, "Hello Ash." Before being brought into a crushing hug from Scott.

Ash joked, gasping for air, "Scott, if my Mom doesn't kill me, you will..."

Scott chuckled, letting go, as he responded, "Sorry, it's been a couple of years since we've last met, anyway, follow me. I wish to talk to you while we get to the Frontier Building."

Agreeing, he followed, Scott explained, "There are some requirements we wish for you to have, something not many people know with a few exception is, we wish for every Frontier Brain member to befriend or obtain a Legendary Pokémon, while I understand they're elusive, we want to push for Frontier Brains to befriend Legendary Pokémon & show the world that trainers can handle the responsibility & friendship with having a powerful Pokémon. (Okay. What else?) a location. (Huh?) By location we mean an area the Frontier Brain calls home, while we'll pick out the place, the location is very simple to where you feel closest, like the Indigo Plateau or Lavender Town. (Can we have it in Pallet Town?) of course, the next thing we need to go over will be your building & that's about it. (Okay.)" as they made small chat, figuring out what happened to each other for the past few years.

Reaching a building, Scott asked, "Now before you come in, I want to ask one last time, are you sure you want to join as a Frontier Brain?"

Ash, without flinching nor hesitating, responded, "Yes, I'm 100% sure... but when we get everything done, I want to tell you something, very important, to you & all the Frontier Brains about someone I met in Alola who has a unique case. Can I?"

Scout nodded, "Of course, whatever it is, I'll contact the Brains for you to tell them." Ash bowed in gratefulness, "Thank You." As he & Scott entered the building.

The Seven Kanto Frontier Brains were talking, Lucy then asked, "Don't you wonder why Scott called us together?"

On six individual screens, the individual Sinnoh Frontiers were in each screen, the second strongest of the six: Palmer, yelled impatiently, "What is that guy gonna get here!?"

The strongest of the Sinnoh Brains, a trainer named Ghost responded, "Now's not the time to freak out Palmer, just a give it a few minutes, they should be in soon, remember, patience is key." As he calmly look ed at a Delphox that seem to signal him something, he responded with a nod, while he begun his own research while he worked, ,pulling up designs of Frontier buildings, like the Battle Tower & the Battle Maison. He wanted to chat with Scott about recruiting the four girls that ran the Battle Maison.

Lucy frowned, seeing the display on the main screen, looking at the Sinnoh FB, she asked, "Why do that? Are you expecting a new Frontier Brain?"

He answered nonchalantly, "No Delphox said you Brains are."

"WHAT!?" Was everyone else's reaction (Except for Brandon, who had a slight smirk), Ghost asked, "Scott told you, huh Brandon." It wasn't a question, it was a statement, Brandon nodded, "Yeah, he told me because he trusted me the most to keep a secret."

Before anyone else could ask any further, Scott walked in alone, seeing the looks of the FB, he looked at Brandon, who pointed at ghost, which caused the man to laughed, "Should've known it took the Psychic with foresight abilities to figure it out, well, guess no need to keep it a secret, we're getting a new Frontier."

Upon that line, all hell broke loose, while Brandon & Ghost waited patiently, as Scott tried to stop them from freaking out, until they heard Palmer roar, "SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET SCOTT SHOW US THE NEW BRAIN!" Upon them all sitting up, Scott shot a grateful look to Palmer, who responded, "Just show the kid, I'm getting bored." As he impatiently stared at Scott.

Scott cleared his voice, "Okay, thank you again Palmer, but to the point, the newest Kanto Frontier Brain is going to be Ashura Gray Ketchum." As on cue, the raven haired trainer walked in, a grin on his face, all the Brains who knew him were shocked, Ghost looked at him, almost spaced out, as his eyes became a deep blue without their pupil, as his Delphox held on to him, staring at her flame, as she ushered Scott to continue, who laughed, "Well, this was a secret, but Ash called last night & well, asked me if he could become a Frontier Brain, it's as simple as that."

Anabel greeted, "It's good to see you again Ash."

Ash greeted, though something was off about his voice, it sounded slightly strained, "It's good to see you again Anabel." Before he greeted, "It's great to see you guys again!"

Lucy nodded, "It's quite the pleasure to see you too Ash & I'm sure some people miss you a lot..."

Ash merely blinked, confused, while Anabel & Greta glared at her, angry, Palmer greeted, "It's greet to see you again kid, you really did well, Rhyperior's wanting a second go at one of your Pokémon."

Ash nodded, "I got the perfect Pokémon to fight him, we'll battle next time we meet in person, okay?"

Palmer nodded, "You better remember."

Scott called, "Alright before anything else proceeds, we need you to pick out your location & your building."

Ash nodded, before seeing the buildings, most were the generic Battle locations, that's when his eyes landed on this location, it was a fortress, except there were plants, like it was a natural location, he pointed to it, "I'd like this one near Pallet Town."

Scott readjusted his glass, "The Battle Fortress, huh, never thought you'd pick that one, okay, & near Pallet as well, okay, it''l take about six months, around the time of the World Tournament, this gives you the chance to train your Pokémon & complete the requirements, understood?"

Ash nodded, "Yes sir, I understood, now can I do it? (Yes.) okay where's your video phone?" After few more questions, Ash typed down a number, before it was picked up by Prof. Kukui, who greeted, "Hey Ash, great to see you, what brings you here?"

Ash explained, "I need to get a hold of Lila, can please put her on?"

Kukui nodded, "Alright." After a minute or two, someone else picked up, her voice sounding familiar to Anabel, "Why do you need to... call... Ash..." she met eye to eye with Anabel, while everyone else gawked, Lila looked exactly like Anabel, the only difference was she was wearing a more tropical outfit.

Before anyone freaked out, Ash quickly settled it, "This is Lila, she not a clone, nor a doppelgänger, she Anabel from a different reality, one where the Battle Frontier opened up in Hoenn instead of Kanto, she's a strong trainer, on par with Anabel, but don't freak out please, she's the exact same person as Anabel, only from a different reality, I came up with the name Lila so I don't get her confused for you Anabel."

Scott looked fascinated, "So now there are two Anabel, that's amazing, & could be very beneficial for the Battle Frontier to meet with the Battle Tree, okay Ash, it's good you told us this, nice to meet you Lila."

Ghost snapped out of his trance, before he said, "Scott, I'm leaving, but before I go, Delphox, fetch!" As the screen disappeared, while Delphox reappeared, before grabbing Ash & disappeared, causing everyone except Scott, to be shocked.

Before insanity occurred, Scott spoke, "Ghost is up to something, if he does something that extreme, he must have saw something, so for now, just go back to you're locations, don't worry about Ash, he'll be just fine, maybe the test subject to Ghost plans, but alright all the same."

As he teleported into a lab, he heard, "Good job Delphox." The fox merely nodded, getting a pat on the head, as she smiled inwardly at the silent praise, Ghost helps Ash up, explaining, "I wish to do something with you, I've been having bad daydreams & nightares about the future to come, yet the beings core in the premonition aren't clear, only visible in Haze or as a silhouette, but your face appeared in ultimate images, so I wish to do something before you go on your way..."

Before Ash could respond, Ghost slammed a strange gear onto Ash's arm, causing ash to gasp in shock, before he cried out, a he felt the device stab through his skin, anchoring itself to his very bones, before a glove like device came out of the machine, & clamped down on his hand, as he felt a massive surged of pain in his whole right arm, Ghost looked fascinated, like the sight wasn't just enjoyable, he was actually taking notes, jotting them down, after the pain seared for what felt like hours, it eventually died down, as he lifted his hand up, he winced in slight pain, before the sensation finally disappeared, sighing, Ghost commented, "Well, looks like the process is finished... I'm glad the machine fits you, it seems that this will hold better than my previous attempts."

Ash asked, almost in horror, "What is this?"

Ghost offered his hand, "it's nothing more than a special device, it's meant for capturing special kinds of Pokémon, just be careful, what I wanted to do was recruit someone for my experiment, I what to gather data, the last device I made was a failure due to not possessing a clamp like that, it was also bulkier than before, so I'm glad the device worked... I want to keep tabs on a new FB without issue, so that machine will send information to me, understood?"

Ash could only nodded, still overwhelmed, before Ghost nodded, "As an apology, I wish to give you this." As he held out an eg to him, Ghost explained, "I found this egg a couple weeks ago, it's unlike anything I've seen, I wish for you to possess it, for now..." accepting the egg, Ghost laughed, "Don't worry it was made to be less bulky compared to the original, after a week, you'll won't even feel it, so good luck with your career." Delphox nodded, before teleporting Ash back to the Battle Frontier HQ.

Ash was walking through the forest, contemplating on everything that happened, the Legendary rule was simple enough, he had a Pokémon he relied on, but he could find a Pokémon to find & bond with.

He sighed, Pikachu called, "Pika pi, chu Pikachu."

Ash responded, "I'm fine, just anxious, today was a very crazy one, right? (chu, chu.) I hope we can get all prepared before six months are done. Right? (Pika!) Alright! Let's Go, Pikachu! (PIKACHU!)"

AN: Tell me what I could do to make these two chapters better, I'll work on them before I do small frames of Ash's adventures, specifically the most notable once, such as catching new Pokémon & new changes.

Just so you know, this IS a Different AU Ash & I have plans for this, Ghost is the person with the premonition in the first chapter. Don't worry, this is going to have a unique one I believe.

Delta Pokémon of two kinds, genetic type difference then genetic experiments or just direct environmental change, like with Pokémon Insurgence's Delta Scyther.
