Ten years later...
It was still darkout outside, hours away from being morning. Yet, slowly opening his eyes, the teen whose eyes were like the big blue sky woke up. His eyes were full of tears. The reason why, he knew better than anyone.
Pushing himself up, he wiped them away before making his way out to the balcony and took a look of the kingdom destined to be his one day. It was beautiful, however, that was only the outside layer. Deep inside, he knew how corrupted this place truly are. After all, he once saw it with his little two eyes. While some children lived happily, minding their own business, others were sold away as slaves, forced to obey whatever commands their masters gave them, even if that meant they have to die.
As the cool breezes blew pass his hair, the bullet shape earing on his left ear started to swing while the memory of the little boy he met long ago rushed through his mind. He promised he would come back and bring him away. But he failed to fulfill it. The next night, when he came back with a group of guards, the boy was gone. His master wasn't willing to corporate because he did nothing wrong. But once he found out the one he attacked yesterday was the prince, he coughed up everything. When the story ended, tears ran down his cheeks uncontrollably. The boy...his master punished him to dead because he failed to deliver a package on time. The man was thrown in the dungeon after that, where he could never see the light of day again. Yet, none of that mattered anymore. No matter what punishment was given, nothing could bring him back to life.
Looking up toward the sky while holding onto the earing on his left ear, his tears once again fell as his whisper was whisked away in the wind.
...
Carrying a big and heavy tray of hot foods with her hands, a maid with blonde hair made her way toward the prince's chamber. Once there, she was confuse on how she would knock when carrying such a tray when the door opened.
"A-ah..."
"Hm?"
"G-good morning, your highness." She bowed.
"Morning. Are those for me?"
"Y-yes."
"I see." He reached his hands out and took the whole tray. "Thank you. By the way, are you new? I haven't seen you before."
"Yes... Today is actually my first day..."
"What is you name?"
"It is Maya, your highness."
"Well, Maya, would you care to join me for breakfast?" He smiled while her face slowly turned red.
"E-ehhh!? T-there is no way I could--"
"It is fine. I won't be able to finish all of these by myself."
"B-but."
"No but. This is an order."
"I...understand." And he stepped aside, letting her in.
...
Half way through his breakfast, there was a knocking of a door. It was another maid with a message from his father, the king. He had been summoned. Replying to the maid, he pushed himself up, putting on his red cap and grabbed his sword before leaving. Maya followed him outside too while bring the tray with her. After that, she bowed her head, saying goodbye to him and quickly ran back to the kitchen while he made his way to his father's chamber. As he took a turn of the corner, he bumped into someone. Even though it was his fault for not looking, before he could say anything, the other teen kneeled down and apologized to him.
"Please stand up. It was my fault for not looking where I was going not yours."
"You are too kind, your grace."
"I am just simply saying the truth. Anyway, I better get going. The king is waiting for me."
"Have a good day."
"Thanks. You too." He smiled
After that, he was off again without knowing what happened today was going to change his life a second time.
