As many apologies as you need to make you feel better about hoe RIDICULOUSLY DAMNED LATE THIS CHAPTER IS, MY GOD! Anyway, i't here now so I hope you enjoy it, we get introduced to another main character here, Aegis who's a young Light Mage boy, but I'll let you read on.
Aegis felt his body reform as he landed just outside the Wizard's Tower. He checked his immediate area and found no other Wizard has been teleported in magic range of him.
This is good. No starting surprises. He thought before walking through the Wizard Tower's huge doors and deciding to lie in wait for the first fool to walk through the doors unprepared, he hoped it would be a Dark Mage so he could annihilate them there and then, but he knew there was roughly a 1 in 9 chance of that happening so decided to stick with the medium spells he was quite practiced in. Suddenly, Temp's voice rang out among the mages.
"Mages, please standby. The Battle Round is starting shortly. However there has been a new rule that will be introduced: if you successfully defeat a mage in battle, you are exempt from being defeated. Please take this into account when planning your battles," it said before a giant number 5 appeared in the air; which turned to a 4, then a 3. It became apparently everyone that it was counting down to the start of the round, however Aegis found that he couldn't move.
Probably a good way to stop anyone getting sneaky hits in before the round begins. He thought to himself as the number in the sky reached 0. His legs immediately felt alive again and he dodged behind the wall as the doors to the wizard tower were flung open, allowing Ultima to float in. He saw Aegis, recognising him as the Mage he was looking for and approached him.
"Oh, Ultima." Aegis breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the Mentor and Leader of all the Light Mages, but that soon turned to surprise when Ultima grabbed him by the neck and started speaking to him in hushed tones.
"Found you. Rumours spreading around the other mages suggest you want to win this here little tournament." Aegis didn't know how to respond to this, was Ultima threatening him, warning him or just flat out trying to sabotage his own operation? Either way, Aegis didn't respond so Ultima continued. "Well, I plan to win every single round AND beat that pompous Dark Lord by any means necessary! So I'd…" He thought out this word for what seemed like ages but was only a few seconds. "…appreciate it if you didn't interfere." Ultima dropped Aegis to the floor at that point and walked out, leaving Aegis to his thoughts.
After spending about an hour inside the Wizard's Tower, Aegis decided that no one was coming in and, since the objective was to stay alive, he moved up the floors until he got the portal that would take him to Heaven, if it wasn't disabled during the tournament. At least I can draw holy power form that if worst comes to worst. As if reading his mind, Aegis heard a Mage's footsteps walk up the tower. Better get ready and hope it isn't Ultima again he thought to himself, before the signature brown and green robes of an Earth mage showed themselves from the stairs. Aegis ducked and hid behind the pillars of the portal so as not to be seen. The Earth mage had a quick look around the room before declaring
"No one here, same as all the other floors," and moving towards the stairs. Before he could make it all the way up there, Aegis sped out from the pillar, and yelled
"Piercing Beam!" A huge white laser beam shot out from Aegis' hands, smashing into the Earth Mage, completely ignoring the notorious defence all Earth Mages have and sending him crashing to the floor. He got himself up and faced Aegis, who was now charging up another shot of the same spell. Seeing this, he ran up to the roof where they could fight better. Aegis used a small part of the energy he was charging to cast Radiant Light and hurled a ball of Holy Energy onto the roof, which promptly exploded briefly stunning the Earth Mage and allowing Aegis to run to the roof and slash at the Earth Mage's magical defence with his sword. Recovering from the blast, the Earth Mage-that Aegis found was called Landslide from his telepathy-went into a fighting stance, casting the spell that had the same name as him. Aegis dodged only just in time out of the way as rocks came crashing down on the spot that he had only a moment ago occupied. "I see your reflexes are as good as they say." Landslide said, his voice deep and gravelly
"I don't recall hearing that, but if you say so," Aegis replied before leaping into the air and performing a jumping slash right onto the Earth Mage's head. Landslide calmly removed Aegis and his sword, before throwing them into the barrier surrounding the Tower's roof that prevents anyone from falling off. "Fine then," Aegis said calmly "I'll finish you off! Moon Beams!" Aegis rapidly slashed his sword, cutting the air in front of him and sending beams of Light Energy in the shape of a Crescent Moon right at his foe, who took the brunt of the blast and fell over, incapacitated. As the form of the Earth Mage dissipated to be reanimated in the loser's area, Aegis looked over the roof of the tower at the myriad of battles taking place below him. "Heh, maybe my next battle will be as epic as some of those." He said aloud to no one in particular before lying next to the forcefield and falling asleep, knowing he would be safe from further attacks.
Temp and co looked onward to the battles that were playing out over the day the Battle Round took place over.
"Some nice fighting going on out there. I think this one's going well so far," Dragon observed before Alain remarked back at him
"They are trained mages you know. Not the sort Temp has locked up in his cage of an Underworld."
"Hey! I'm listening you know." Temp said, kicking Alain to shut him up, Kaka laughed at this which earned him a kick from Alain. This is going to be good thought Temp as the many battles between the mages continued to ravage on through the night…
The next round of the Olympiad should hopefully be in the next chapter so look forward to that. I'll try not to completely forget about writing next time XD.
